I don’t know how many other«gringos» have been here to eat; but this place rocks! I had the sopa de mariscos and it was full of fish, shrimp, and mussels along with imitation crab. The broth was fantastic! They serve beer and the chips and salsa were adequate. I will be back!

Tortas are amazing, tacos are good, guisado is good, prices are great. I love this place.

El Perron is the best and truest kind of Mexican restaurant — it’s the type of place that doesn’t post hours, the type of place where close-minded people might judge it to be «dirty» based upon the exterior, and the type of place that doesn’t primarily speak English. The man works the front of the house, and the woman is in the back doing the cooking. They deal in a lot of soups — seafood soups especially — but there’s other things on the menu, like the guisado plates, either in red or green(green for me), containing nothing but a big pile of pork chunks cooked until tender and all the fat renders into a lip-smacking gravy. I also sampled their taco al pastor, which was overloaded with bright red meat, onion, and cilantro. The rice had frozen vegetables in it, but was otherwise fairly standard, as were the beans. I was also given a sample of a shrimp cocktail soup that they had cooking, and while I’m not a huge fan of using Clamato as a soup base, It was overall pretty okay. I would guess that weekday lunchtimes would probably be the best time to find them open, but whenever you happen to find them open, it’s worth a stop.
