Go to Cabella’s where they actually know something about the products they sell Even the firing rage is a joke –

Large selection, but a little pricey. Not impressed with the complete lack of customer service from the guys in the firearms section. I don’t plan on ever going back unless the rest of Wichita runs out of ammo.

I had never set foot in a Gander Mountain store before my visit a couple weeks ago. I went in with a couple of friends to use the indoor range. Range time is a bit pricey($ 25 per hour, per lane) if you’re going solo shooting, but since three of us were splitting the cost, it was quite reasonable. Also, there is no membership required, which is nice. While we were shooting on the range, one of the ever-present firearms experts was always ready to help with any questions we had, and even gave us some tips. Another of the firearms experts convinced us to spend some time in the 300-degree simulator after our live range time… and that’s where the fun began. Again, the cost seemed steep, but since it is simulated fire, you can rattle off a couple hundred shots without spending an extra penny on ammo. Plus, with it’s 300-degree panoramic views, the simulator gives you an almost real-world experience. I did a few target drills to get acquainted with the gun and the overall feel of the simulator, then we got into the training scenarios. It seemed a bit canned and corny at first, but as the instructor said, «you only get out of it what you put into it», so I got comfortable and started shouting at the screens and using the simulator for what it is — training. And for that, it is excellent. Screw the video game consoles, I want one of these simulators in my house! In any case, the visit was good for some firearms training, but their merchandise is overpriced. I’ll probably come back for more handgun practice, but I don’t see myself purchasing any equipment here.

Lots and lots of fishing supplies plus more! They also offer carry and conceal classes! It’s a little pricey but worth it if you’re looking for many options.

This would be the hunting/camping headquarters of Wichita. They are a yin to backwoods to yang. While backwoods is a backpackers dream, gander mountain provides all of your firearm, base camp, fishing supplies. They have a very large selection of firearms and firearm accessories. Pick whichever store suits your need they are both good stores.
