Had the most disappointing experience. I have been recently disabled due to a spine injury/surgery. At the front door of Wichita Towne East JCPenny’s,(7700 E Kellogg) I asked for a wheel chair to be able to shop in the store. I was told«You have to walk down stairs to the opposite end of the mall, at Dillard’s, and get a wheel chair then return to shop». I asked to speak to the Manager. Rich, the manager, came to speak with me, apologized and said they call security and have security bring a chair to the person. I explained what I had been told by the person at the front door. He said that they had recently hired several new people and they must not know about the«policy». Great, EXCEPT, the women, a department head or assistant manager, standing beside me and who heard my concerns first, wearing a badge honoring her years of service, did not know about the service to disabled persons. Matter of fact, she had given me the same line as the person at the front door. Rich explained that they are fully compliant with ADA– MAYBE– but JCPenney absolutely made shopping for persons with disabilities difficult, not easy to access and a barrier.

was greeted or watched by a jewelry attendant we found a great deal on a watch it was cheaper than we thought we passed on the unknown and unexplained service plan we had to return a few minutes later because the watch did not work attendant was busy so we went to customer service(not the right name for it). we returned to the jewelry attendant and he took the watch and about 10 minutes later he returned and said battery was sluggish and he put a new one in. and gave us the watch and walked away. I use to work at that store and it looks nicer if you like the black and white look. but I would have been fired if I acted as tired, bored and uncommitted as this team.
