Good food, wait staff needs experience. 1 hour order to serving time. Our waitress was too busy filling take out orders to serve her paying, normally well tipping customers. 5 couples were seated after us and were long gone before we finished. They had a different waitress. I would consider this a 4 except for the so-so service(more than just this visit).

I come here often since I live on this side of town. Service is excellent and I’ve never had to wait very long for food. I like the atmosphere, too. The place itself is clean and roomy. I love their Japanese burritos! I like to mix the three sauces that come with the burritos: sriracha, spicy mayo and eel sauce. The soy wrap is thin and crunchy. As of now, none of their items have disappointed me though I’ve had better in other areas. However, I would have to say for a sushi restaurant in Wichita, this place is quite decent! My friend and I came here last week just 30 minutes before closing time and were able to get our food and finish them right before 10:30. We never felt rush and everyone was extremely patient and nice. We ordered: yellowtail nigiri, surf clams, Japanese burritos, an eel roll and a baked tuna skin roll. All were amazing.

Used to be our favorite«cheap» sushi place in town. Quality of food has been degrading last few months. The service is terrible. We went there tonight waited for over 15 minutes without anyone taking our order. The hostess just threw the menus on the table and raced off. Its a case of a small business having some modest success then treating their customers like crap cause they think they are the holy grail, usually ownership issue!

First time at Rock location was over the weekend. Usually go to downtown location. Good as always and never disappointed! Wish they had comfy cushy booths to sit at!

Great sushi for wichita. Yellowtail was very tender. The place is clean and the service was fast. Will come back for sure. My daughter loved the teriyaki chicken and California roll. I had yellowtail sashimi and heart attack roll. Good prices for sushi and high quality food.

Delicious!!! Definitely coming back again! Good portions and fresh fresh fresh!!! We usually can finish multiple rolls but they gave so much fish in the sushi we couldn’t been finish it! Nigiri www awesome and so was the beer! They don’t have a full bar tho which is stated in the details of the restaurant. So don’t expect that but they had beer, wine, and of course sake!

Before I get into my mojo… I’d like to apologize for checking in at the wrong restaurant… when I was checking in, for some reason Wasabi Hinkaku was the first thing to pop up and at the time I didn’t check the actual location and saw the word Wasabi and immediately thought it was this sushi establishment, but it wasn’t…so you won’t be seeing that little checked in sign above my review for this place… which I’m a little ashamed of, but nonetheless I really was at THIS Wasabi! Okay so it goes without saying but there’s quite a number of sushi places in the Wichita area that are called Wasabi! We had a cousin who used to live in the area say that it’s a popular place for people to get sushi… but now that I think about it… which one was she talking about? We came to this one in particular because a native took us here urging us that it’s a great place and boy was she right! We were seated immediately, it wasn’t too busy that day, and we got our menus and got to work with selecting our delicacies, which I’d like to add are all pretty good(unless my sushi deprived mind is tricking me). For appetizers we got the Cucumber Salad($ 3.95), Avocado Salad($ 6.95) and the Japanese Burrito($ 7.95). All were awesome! If you want something light and refreshing(and if you don’t mind pickled cucumber) you’d really like the Cucumber Salad. Personally I think it’s a nice salad to share with maybe another person or 2 because even if the dish itself is small, I think eating all that pickled cucumber and imitation crab will get you too full for your main courses. The Avocado Salad on the other hand is a bit lighter on the tummy than the Cucumber Salad, since it’s full of spring mixed lettuce and a couple slices of avocados on it. The Japanese Burrito(My favorite!) is, I guess you can compare it to the size of a normal burrito, more filling. We had them split it in thirds which is actually a decent size for us to get a bit and try it out. I’m sure if 1 person tried it, it’ll be TOO filling for them to even get to the main courses. But I think my favorite part about the burrito is the 3 sauces they put on the plate, because you take the burrito and swirl it into the sauces, and it was pretty darn good! For the sushi itself, we got the Big Boss($ 11.95), Dancing Crunch($ 11.95) and the Fire Red Dragon($ 13.95). I would consider the prices normal for any sushi establishment. All were delicious and pretty large as well. I think the one thing worth noting is the Fire Red Dragon and how they wrap it in aluminum foil and lit the bottom on fire. It’s not a noticeable fire if you don’t stare at it hard, but it keeps the sushi pretty warm and if you’re into«hot sushi» then this is definitely a tummy warmer for you! Overall, the food was great and definitely satisfied my sushi cravings for the meantime. The service itself was good, they asked us where we were from and actually tried to have a conversation with us, which is good. It wasn’t fantastic service, but we enjoyed their company and their service. Ahh! And I forgot to mention but the sushi chefs make a huge effort into stopping what they’re doing to welcome you in(in Japanese of course) and also made the effort to say good bye to you. I really enjoyed that, because even though I see that normally in NY or Philly, you rarely ever see that in these states, especially Kansas. I would totally come back here if I’m ever in the area. It’s a great place for a small intimate hangout with family or friends.

Wichita has many sushi bars for a city so far landlocked, but that doesn’t mean the sushi has to be bad. In fact they always seem to get the fish here tasting very fresh! Of the sushi bars however I have over the years come to love Wasabi the most. The prices present a bargain but they do not skimp on quality or presentation! At times the service lacks a bit and occasionally the staff seems detached, but that is likely because they spend all day running. Just watch them sometime when it’s busy! They never stop! The sushi chefs know what they are doing and really do it well, you’ll enjoy the experience. Give it a try!

Good prices and some excellent specialty rolls. I had the Hama, 911 and one more that all very tasty. Good thing I was very hungry as it was very filling. Definitely will be going there again!

Some of the best sushi around. Ample seating, clean dining area, moderate prices. So many sushi rolls to chose from. I would avoid any rolls with scallops, last few times they were very fishy. Otherwise all the other rolls I’ve tried there have been great.

My go-to place when I’m craving sushi. The staff are friendly and attentive, and I feel welcome regardless of whether I’m alone or with company. They have do some very interesting fusion type sushi rolls that are good for a change… for example Coconut Gigolo has a peanut butter sauce. Sounds crazy — but trust me, it’s good!

I often eat alone when on the road for work, and love to see what kind of sushi I can find. My Kansas hometown has a couple of excellent sushi digs, so I was hopeful when coming in here. I ordered the plum wine, combination tempura, the Sydney roll & the Ichiban. Very happy with it all.

PLEASE fix issues with your service! We eat here regularly because the sushi is good; however I can’t tell you the number of times we’ve been left waiting or there were mistakes with our orders. Sunday at 4:00 several tables had been left uncleaned and two servers took turns ignoring us. It took 20 – 30 minutes to get our sushi with only 3 full tables in the entire place. If they fix customer service issues my rating has 4-star potential.

Still the best sushi in wichita, they have fixed the issues with to go orders and now I’m very satisfied when I order over the phone and in person. Crazy crab is the best, backed lobster it doesn’t matter what u order it’s all good, I catered over 200.00 worth and that was one of the best experiences, usually catered good isn’t that great but sushi makes an awesome alternative.

Great food however the customer service is horrible. Last week my wife had soda spilled on her. Not to mention they are not family friendly, there is not a changing station in the restroom so I had to take my month old daughter to the care to get changed. Then today we came in and immediately went to the restroom, the light didn’t work. We told our waitress. 45 min later the light still hadn’t been changed so I had to use my phone as light. I had to put it on the sink because there are no other surfaces and the sink was dripping, which I didn’t see because it’s pitch black in there and I got water all over my phone. I really hope management gets it together because the food is good.

I had lunch here on a Thursday with a party of 5; the restaurant was moderately packed and relatively quiet. Something must have went wrong up front because we didn’t get a waiter until about 5 minutes or so after seating, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. Our waitress was very accommodating, and we got a free fried dumpling appetizer out of it =) Anyways, I ordered the F-2 lunch combo(4 spicy tuna roll, 4 california roll, 5 pieces of sushi, Chef’s choice; plus a bowl of miso soup), and it tasted great. Very happy with the chef’s selections. I’ve yet to be unhappy with an order at any of the Wasabi restaurants in Wichita; it’s one of my favorite local lunch/dinner spots.

Terrible customer service, terrible policy. Their website and storefront advertise that they close at 10pm. After a very full day, in which I was unable to eat due to busyness, it was a welcome sight as just about every other place I looked up had already closed. However, when I went in, I was told, to their credit, politely, that last call was at 9:30. I walked in at 9:36 and was refused service. As someone who has worked in food service, I find this unacceptable from a customer service standpoint, as well as a policy standpoint. I get that everyone wants to go home as early as possible and shutting down a restaurant can really take a while. No one wants to stay late, especially on a weeknight. I get it. However, if you advertise that you close at 10, you offer your services until then. You don’t make up an arbitrary time that only the staff is familiar with and then refuse service to a paying customer who has no way of knowing differently. If you want to close at 9:30, just say so on your website and storefront. That would have avoided this entire experience. I wouldn’t have had to spend the time and effort to get there, nor would I have ignored any other potential option for getting food elsewhere. It was a somewhat embarrassing and extremely aggravating experience(amplified, again, by the fact that I had not had a chance to eat the entire day) and I will not be giving business to this store. The owners of Wasabi would do well to close when they say they will close. You cannot take your customers for granted. While I’m sure this place serves great sushi, there are other options for good sushi in town.

Highly suggest for both dine in and takeout! We’ve been here a few times and had nothing but excellent food! The special rolls are abundant and cater to a variety of tastes. There are also plenty of rolls with cooked fish for those less adventurous diners just starting their sushi experience. I haven’t been here on a super busy night, but for a weekday dinner, service was great! Negative: most of the rolls are a combination with crab or spicy tuna… or both.

The Ichiban roll at Old-Town Sushi Bar by Wasabi(that’s a mouthful, hereafter referred to as OTSBbW) reminds me of my fifth grade art class. Our teacher, Mrs. Horner, or something like that, was as insufferable as any elementary schoolmarm. We were instructed to make booklets detailing different shading styles, painting techniques and some other stuff that I wasn’t really able to grasp. I choose multi-colored paper, and finished my task, then presenting my masterpiece to the missus. She quickly looked at it, and told me to decorate it more — that it was too plain. I huffily stomped back to my desk and plastered stickers and glitter all over the thing like it was a unicorn’s playground. At the end of the hour, I turned in my chryselephantine booklet. The next day, it was returned. Grade? D. Reason? It was«too busy.» Care factor? Low. That was a beautiful masterpiece. Mrs. H could dunk herself in a pool of finger paint for all I cared. The point is: Order the Ichiban. It’s a simple spicy albacore roll, topped with seared albacore. That’s the simple part. The«busy» part is the core of what makes the Ichiban amazing, and worthy of an A-grade, in spite of what my 5th grade art teacher would have said. The pieces of the Ichiban are scattered around a pile of string-thin, lightly tempura battered, caramelized golden onions. This is oddly delicious, especially when smeared around in some combination of unagi sauce and spicy mayonnaise.
