In the third most egregious misuse of punctuation in restaurants names behind«Kababs…» and«Charlie’s „Famous“ Burgers,» Sit @ Thai Express promises to offer the same sort of fancy Thai food that westsiders have been enjoying for years(I assume — I haven’t been there yet), except now they’re on the other side of the Arkansas River, in a smaller location, with cheaper prices and a drive thru. And while I can give some kudos at the surprisingly nice ambiance inside that tiny restaurant, the food is pretty weak in comparison to my previous Thai encounters. All Thai is suited to carry-out, but with the extra emphasis here(and no one else in the dining room), I didn’t feel much like eating in. It didn’t take long for my meal to come out, and they did me a solid by separately wrapping the soup, so if the lid came open on the ride home, it wouldn’t soak my can or the rest of the food. I think I’m going to keep the Tom Yum as a point of comparison for my exploration of Wichita’s Thai restaurant scene. Even though Sit @ Thai Express was only the second restaurant under which this policy has been in effect, I could tell the soup was not a very good rendition — sour, yes, and with a little bit of heat, but aside from the cilantro, there was no galangal or lemongrass in my cup, and I have a hard time believing much was used at all. Tomato and ordinary button mushrooms served as the vegetable component. There was also a small ordinary garden salad that was boring, unnecessary, and I threw it away. The pad kee mao(drunken noodles) were more disappointing. The noodles themselves were severely overcooked, clumping together and breaking at the slightest provocation. They were stir fried with soy sauce, egg, some basil, and the tiny bits of beef that I chose as my protein. Some chopped peanuts served as a finishing touch. There was very little complexity in this dish, and absolutely no heat of which to speak. Sit @ Thai Express, despite having a name that is a bit oxymoronic, does provide Thai food quickly and on the cheap. Your mileage here is dependant on how much you prize speed and value over the more complex flavors of what some of the neighboring Thai restaurants in the area have to offer.

Friendly service and décor is fine, although the seating area is smallish. Had the Yellow Curry. Curry tasted fine but was extremely salty compared with other Thai places I’ve been. Beef was a little tough and some had a slightly off taste. My friends all gave lukewarm reviews to the place. General consensus is that there’s no need to go here when it’s less than a mile from the far superior Thai Tradition.

This is really good Thai food… Not great, but really good and CHEAP! The price makes up for it being less than great. Biggest drawback? The hours! Seriously, it’s a bit ridiculous. If I work late, no Thai for me. Not from here, anyway. Plan ahead though, and this is a great deal for good food.

I’ve driven by here a hundred times and thought of stopping in, but I finally did today and I was so impressed! I ordered the Drunken Noodle with chicken and the spring rolls, and both were delicious. The Drunken Noodle came with a little salad and egg roll, and everything was super fresh! Service was great, menu is basic but covers all the main attractions in American-style Thai food, and it was quick! They also have a punch card thing where if you buy 9 meals you get the 10th free(or something like that), so I’m planning on eating there at least 8 more times. Try it!

I have been here 4 times in the past month for lunch take-out. Being a vegetarian, it is difficult to fast places to eat with decent options, and I really like when places have a veggie menu/options so you don’t have to ask them to alter anything for you. Thai Express has 3 vegan options, but I have not asked yet if they can make any of their other options without animal products(such as yellow curry!). Two times I went the food was excellent, the other two times it was ok. Not sure why the difference. The portions are good and filling, but seems to vary a little bit how much you get. Overall, I think the place is worth a try for the vegetarian options, and good place to grab lunch.

I’ve always found little hole-in-the-wall restaurants to be be very good and Sit@ does not disappoint. Had basic Pad Thai and it was super. Fresh and steamy. Mug root beer was perfectly chilled. Went for lunch. I will come back.

Food is delicious! However, I’ll never go back at night by myself. Parking is not lit and scary. The carry out bag & containers are too small. I had a mess of sauce by the time I got home. Not much fun!
