Liked their old location, so I thought I’d try their new place in Delano. Not a welcoming atmosphere, kinda cluttered and a little dirty. I got Quiche & it was dry and overcooked. Didn’t have very many options in baked goods. Great concept, but doesn’t seem like they are really into making it work. Will not be returning.

We searched Google looking for a good premium cupcake and sugar sisters came up. .so we swung in. The overall look is cute however the small cupcake selection was deterring and my cupcake was solid cold frozen in the center! I wouldn’t return!

I tried them for the first time at their old location. I wanted to order a cake for my son’s birthday. The woman at the counter seemed confused by the request. They didn’t seem to have any sort of process for taking cake orders, which seemed strange given that they’re a bakery. She gave me their email address and told me to send them an email. I did, however I never received a reply. I went to their new location a couple of months ago with family that was visiting from the East Coast. We all ordered something to try. My mother and brother also ordered coffee. I guess the best way to describe it is to say that the experience was nothing special. The coffee was terrible and the brownie I bought was disappointing. I didn’t even finish it and that’s pretty shocking for someone who loves brownies as much as I do. The sisters aren’t incredibly friendly. You would think that a family owned place, with pictures of the sisters baking when they were little covering a wall, would really try to make their customers feel like part of the family. Instead, we felt like we had awkwardly stumbled into a home where we weren’t unwelcome, but we weren’t particularly welcome either.

Sugar Sisters certainly had a rough go of it at their old location, though it seems like a small shop in Delano is probably a better fit for them. And while the reviews of the new shop haven’t exactly been pouring in, it’s probably better for them than some of the stories they used to have attached to their name. In any case, I personally never had any problems at their old location, and I continued to have no problems at the new one. The best bierock I’ve had in this city was at the old location — it was a vegetarian bierock and was full of good things like vegetables and not boring things like ground beef. Unfortunately, that’s gone, so you’re stuck with your basic beef with/without kraut. I had«with,» and liked it just fine. It’s either these or quiche, so your lunch options are limited, but the good thing about the bierock is it’s small enough to serve as a snack on a lazy day walking down Douglas. Plus, you get to have one of their fluorescent pink cupcakes, which aren’t too bad in their own right.
