I was not that impressed with this coffee shop. I ordered an iced caramel hazelnut. It took a long time to make my grande and the flavor was just off. I think it had to be the caramel. I am not a fan of imitation caramel.

The coffee was good, the service was prompt, and the staff was friendly. I appreciate having something close to the hotel I was at.

Drive-up coffee stands are a cornerstone in coffee-loving parts of the country such as Seattle, but they aren’t very prominent in coffee-platonic cities like ours. I don’t know why — it seems like a good way to not have to worry about all of the extra overhead that comes with a full-fledged walk-in business. It’s only coffee for chrissakes — what more do you need than a drive-thru window? At the same time, how many independent coffee shops — walk-in or otherwise — do we have in this town? Mead’s Corner is pretty much it, unless you live in Riverside. People seem pretty content with Starbucks. So I support The Coffee Bug. Well, not financially support, because I still prefer to make coffee at home, but in I support the idea of The Coffee Bug for those who do not or choose not to invest hundreds of dollars in brewing equipment and beans to make a proper cup themselves. Considering its name, the picture in your mind is that this is a little shack like the stereotypical coffee shacks with which you are undoubtedly familiar. Once you pull up, though, you realize that the structure is quite a bit larger than expected. It’s a solid piece of craftsmanship, and could have probably accommodated walk-up service if they’d added a door. As for the products themselves, the drip coffee was strong and full-bodied, and the cappuccino was proportionally satisfactory, with a dense head of foam, and a well-pulled couple of shots of espresso. Nothing mind-blowing here, but enough to like for the morning commutes. I do think they would be wise to open earlier to get the REALLY early commuters — opening at 6AM is merely adequate for a coffee shop.

11⁄2012 Prices are similar to Starbucks but a smaller line. Hours are a little limiting, wish they would open earlier. I ordered the Pumpkin Pie Spicy Latte and really enjoyed it. Not to syrupy and a good treat during the fall.

I really like The Coffee Bug. They have a great selection of drinks and some delicious food items. It’s a drive thru only business with two drive thrus, so you never have to wait long to order or get your drink. Pay attention to their specials– they run deals like get a $ 25 gift card for $ 20, or get a free regular coffee with your order.
