The very worst hamburger, fries, onion rings of my life. Hamburger was rare, bun soggy, fries hard as a rock and I will never ever go back. I had to give 1 star just to give this review. They do not deserve a 1 star.

Burgers and atmosphere are great. Shakes are so-so. Fries and onion rings are dry and over-fried.

Not sure why there are so many Walt’s hamburger places that vary so much on their quality but for me, this one is the one to go to. A Nice juicy burger, fries and a drink at a reasonable price. The diner has a nice feel to it but it could use a bit of a sprucing up to make it more appealing. They have a juke box there and I wanted to listen to music but the volume was turned way down on it for some reason which was a bit of a bummer.

Just ate there for lunch. They forgot my order! I ordered and paid for 2 steak and cheese, and 1 brisket. She came out with 1 steak and cheese and 1 brisket. She said she’ll be back worn the other steak and cheese…20 minutes later I go up and ask where my steak and cheese was and she forgot to put the order in. Wow and what did she offer me, a free drink refill, wahoo. My wife and daughter finished their meals before mine even came out. Food was OK, I will not be returning. My daughter also said the bathroom was disgusting.

So many Walts. So many burgers. This is #3 in an investigation into the story behind the mysterious Walt, and the multitude of burgers he left behind. Though the building itself is very, very different from its Oliver location, this is definitely the same Walt from which that east side location sprung. Probably back around 1948, as the sign suggests. The menu is the same, too, though(like much of the west side of the city) everything here is a little harsher — the patty was cooked a little longer and the fries were more than a little overdone in an attempt to get crispy. They were crispy, and they also tastes like grease. It may have been my imagination, but I think the west side location also gives you a smaller drink with your value menu. Still, Walt thinks he can fool me by taking up shop on the far west side of town and in the shell of an old shiny diner? The exterior may be unique, but the burgers are all the same. Rating: 4 Walts out of 10

You notice the 50’s styling before you pull up into the parking lot. The inside has a great all-american diner feel to it. The smell that greets your nose causes your mouth to start watering. Onions being sauteed on the grill and mixing with fresh ground beef. Looking at the menu, it has Mexican fare in addition to hamburgers. I placed my order and paid with my credit card. I found a seat and didn’t wait for more than 3 min before I was greeted with a beautiful double cheeseburger dressed to the nines. The first thing you see is a fork. I picked up the burger and took a bite. The flavor was spectacular. The fries were the size of your typical McDonald’s, but some of the skin was still on. They were really good. I used the fork to finish my fries due to the copious amounts of ketchup that I used from the squeeze bottle that was on the table. I finished eating and got up to leave. My server came and cleared my table and before I could open the door, the gentleman behind the counter told me to have a nice day. This concluded a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. Next time I will try some Mexican food.

There are divine greasy burgers & fries, Then there are greasy burgers & fries that taste just plain greasy. This was the latter. Ive driven by Walt’s Classics a thousand times and always enjoyed the exterior but its been years since Ive consumed something from there. Today changed that though with a drive thru experience. The voice in the very low volume speaker box wasn’t friendly or inviting, but not exactly rude. When I pulled to the window it was obvious she was extremely preggers… So I’m ok with her lack of enthusiasm for serving me bovine. Once I got home with the grub and had a few bites, I found the fries to be unseasoned, the beef flavorless, and the onion rings were of the frozen variety. The Coca-Cola was spot on though. Spot On. Bleeh. I’m not saying I’ll never go back… but i think it might be quite a while before I do. Especially considering I wasn’t interested in finishing my burger nor fries.

I love Walt’s Classics design and décor. They’re among a few Starlite diners that has survived in Wichita(Brint’s Diner on E. Lincoln Street is a Valentine’s diner, I think). It’s a family-owned business and everything is made fresh every morning. Their fries are freshly cut and immediately fried in the hot oil. Burgers are not big & juicy. They’re smashed flat before grilling. Yes, this gives a crispier patty but it’s not for you if you’re in a mood for a succulent burger. They also have homemade tacos and old-fashioned milkshakes. Great atmosphere with modern CD jukebox. In a hurry? No worry. They even have a drive-thru for your quick lunch.
