Still one of the best beer bars down the shore. Lot’s of crafts on tap, cask or hand drawn beer engine. Food is good and inexpensive. It’s not very big sowait times can be loooong in season. This time of year not too bad. My only issue is that the tiny liquor store’s selection of beers do not match what the bar offers. Oh well can’y have it all I guess.

don’t order the fried calamari, unless you like eating rubber bands

How is no one mentioning the great beer selection? They have a great craft beer selection both on tap and bottles. There is also a liquor store attached and they sell a good selection of wine and craft beers. I ordered a delirium argentum and my hubby had an alagash white. We were there for the first Sunday of the NFL season. There was a random collection of football fans from every team and everyone’s game was on somewhere in the bar. I wasn’t happy with the food. I ordered the nachos and the beef wasn’t seasoned. It also wasn’t mixed in, it was just put on top. We also orders the hot wings which were good. I would definitely go back for a great beer and to watch the game but not for the food.

First time here and it was awful. The service was terrible, the food mediocre. There were 6 of us, two adults and 4 children. The cook doesn’t know what a medium burger is. This was reputed to be a great place to eat. Obviously it’s just a bar disguised as an eatery.

Things we liked: salmon, burger, nachos. Things we didn’t like and reasons why: onion soup was super salty, grouper baked was overcooked, chicken fingers were not fresh but just frozen type. Priced too high for a very casual place. People came in bathing suits. Open door invited many flies which buzzed around our meals. Server was nice and friendly.

Always our go to place for over 15 years! We have a summer place in the Crest and this is our bar! The bar, bartenders and food are all great and consistent. Reasonable prices so you can bring the whole family and not drop a ton of money to eat. You need to visit this place so you can say you have been to the Crest Tavern, even buy a t-shirt. This is a landmark and the owners are always there. This is a great local neighborhood bar and restaurant. You can get anything here from a burger, nachos, turkey blt, salads, to a delicious dinner. One of our favorite is Mardi gras shrimp. They always have specials. New items on the menu this year, loved the new salmon dinner. There is just something for everyone! This is not a tourist trap like other places in the area, this is were the locals eat. Open all year round! TV’s at the bar. Drinks are reasonable and a good selection on tap. They also have a liquor store, sell lottery tickets and had a huge winning ticket 5 years back. Every year the owners do something different to make the place better. Find them on facebook and sign up for their email club to get specials. Just love this place!!! Bob makes the best dirty martini’s!!!

Service: waitress with an attitude if you ask questions about the food. Forgot part of the order and also didn’t really check up on us if we needed anything. Food: OK. Nothing to write home about. The taco bowl was very greasy. The burgers were bland.

Came in on a Tuesday night party of 2. Wait was long so we were offered to sit in the patio area. This is clearly the over flow area and the wait for service was about 10 – 12 minutes. Server was right to the point no enthusiasm or warm welcomes. Boyfriend go the bar favorite crispy chicken salad — it sucked so bad we had it returned. It was a bed of lettuce with large chicken fingers whole just flopped on top. My jack and ginger was very watered down :(– Mardi Gras shrimp we – ok– But they took the salad off the check and apologized.

Simply said, you have to know what to get and you’ll be very happy. My hubby got a salad and nachos and wasn’t too thrilled. However, my son had a burger and I had the chicken sandwich and we left very happy. We got in the door before 5 and beat the dinner rush.

BRINGBACKTHEFRENCHFRYSALAD. Needs to be redone inside. Has a sour toilet aroma. Needs a better menu, but has decent specials. My grandfather enjoys the pork chops but the first time I dined at this establishment, there was a yummy hair in my chicken pot pie. YUMM-O.

June 12-Jun 18, 2015 multiple visits. The place is a local staple and in season the parking lot is full from 1PM on, attesting to their popularity. And I will be back with friends. Favs: –Fish Tacos made from swordfish. 3 that were actually incredible. –Huff n puff double burger– my manly significant other leaves full. –Steak and Shrimp platter. Both perfectly done. –Creamsicle Cocktail– YUMME Happy Hour Specials are good. Bartenders are quick and attentive. Friendly too. Takeout is good. You can grab a myriad of beers from the cooler to take out too.

Neighborhood tappie and restaurant in the Crest. Sports bar. Lots of screens and local paraphernalia. One of the few and it stays open all year. Always mobbed in season. We stopped in after a walk around town. Sat at the bar. Great happy hour specials. Flying Fish on tap. Good craft brew out of Somerville. I had the IPA and the Belgian Summer Ale. Yum! We had chicken wings wings as a nosh. Good wings!

Excellent craft beer selection. They were one of the only bars in the state to serve Founders KBS. Food is fast and superior to the Bayview. Prices are reasonable. Lines are crazy during the season so show up early or eat at the bar. The coffee here is also a hidden gem.

The only dive bar this far south in the Wildwoods, the Crest Tavern is an institution. If you’re vacationing in the Crest or in Lower Township, chances are you are buying liquor here at some point. If you’ve been coming here long enough, you’ve probably mustered the courage(or have attempted to muster the courage) to have a drink at the bar. And once you have that first drink in the bar, you’re as good as a regular, and you’ve probably started eating the food too. The Crest Tavern can appear a bit intimidating to a first timer. The loud and raucous crowd is packed with beer-drinking, whisky-swilling 60, 70 and 80 year-olds, serious about getting their drink on.(Happy Hour starts at 2pm, if that tells you something.) I reckon many of these people are brave locals who tough it out year round. Which is to say, if you want to drink at the Crest Tavern, don’t act like a moron tourist and you’ll fit in just fine. Liquor store prices are inflated during the summer season, though not obnoxiously so. There’s not a vast selection, but you’ll find 99% of the things you need here. If you’re really jonesing for that vintage Screaming Eagle cabernet, well, you are pretty much S.O.L. here. The food is good, as far as bar food goes, but don’t expect anything fancy. I recommend the slow-roasted pork sandwich with sautéed spinach and shaved sharp provolone. If you have any veggivore’s in tow, they make a decent grilled veggie panini and several flatbread pizzas. And despite being a dive bar, it’s actually pretty kid friendly during the day.(1am, maybe not so much.) If you find yourself vacationing in the area, go stock up on liquor here, and then belly up to the bar for a few beers and maybe a shot or two. Live like a real local for an hour or two and you’ll have a great time.

Drinks were good. Can’t beat a margarita in a cactus glass. But, when I ordered the blackened steak salad and asked them to substitute the onion rings for french fries, And they came back and said they couldn’t do it, that was it for me. I removed the onion rings, added fries from my husbands meal and voilá. That’s all I wanted, and it was easy. Disappointed.
