Went there on my lunch and was highly disappointed!!! We got there and immediately ordered our appetizer because we were on lunch and did not have long. We ordered the chicken wing dip. Which was good when we finally got it. I ordered it at 12:03 and it got to our table at 12:45. Right before it came out I questioned the girl of what took so long and she proceeded to tell me they had to make the pitas. As if I am some idiot that thinks it takes 45 min to make pita bread. Don’t bullshit me just give it to me straight if your kitchen sucks or you suck and forgot to put my order in. Pizza came out 2 min after the appetizer so I am so glad I ordered that quickly. Pizza was not good either. It is extremely thin and the sauce was not great. Overall I am extremely disappointed in Grottos. Also after expressing that I thought it was terrible that we had to wait that long for an appetizer it was still on our bill. I was not mean about it and I never ask to have stuff taken off the bill but I do wait to see if they care they made their customer wait for crappy wing dip. And apparently they do not care cause it was on the bill. I saw several people also leaving because a waitress did not even come up to their table yet and they had been there 20 min. I will never go back.

OK… well first off… I’m am not a grotto pizza fan but I went with other folks from work… so I dealt with it… the taste of the food wasn’t even really the problem. Me and my other coworker got there before the others. So we ordered sodas and we figure we would put in the hot wing dip as an app so when the others got there it would be at the table… well…they got there… no dip… we all ordered(1 tray of pizza for all of us) no dip… another couple came in… no dip… the couple got their food… no dip… some other folks walked out who had ordered an app over 20 minutes ago and still didn’t get their app(they were on lunch like us and could not wait that long)…still no dip… we flagged down the waitress and she said it would be right out… well…here comes the damn dip… apparently it was the«pitas» fault because the cooks had to pinch it the right way??? What??? Pitas??? It was plain pizza dough, baked then cut into triangles!!! Don’t give me the excuse that it took so long cuz they were authentic pita breads! And! It clearly stated it was served with«fresh baked pizza crust wedges!» Don’t try and Bullshit me about pita dough when you clearly forgot to put in our app when we «thought» we ordered it. Wait, not done… then like not even 5 minutes after we got our dip, our pizza came out… listen…the buffalo dip was good… it sucked it took so long… and the pizza… like I said… I’m not a fan… and now I know why… the sauce tastes like the sauce on dominos pizza the morning after ordering it at 2 am the night before after coming home from the bar… and the crust… just sucks… dominos isn’t even close to a great pizza, but I would eat it any day over this pizza. I won’t be going back… the service especially put me over the top!

Seriously, get your beer menu straight. The first FIVE that I requested, they no longer offered. It gets a little annoying being told«no» over and over again. Unless I’m hearing it from my wife. But I digress. Very large restaurant inside with quite a number of tables. I can’t imagine that it ever gets that busy. We had a quiet table in a section with only two or three others occupied. I chose the shrimp alfredo pizza and it was pretty tasty. The crust was on the thin side but the toppings were solid. Lots of those very small shrimps with a creamy garlicky white sauce. Not the sort that easily picks up, this was a knife and fork job.

Great stop before or after hickey games. New Sicilian thick crust is very good as well as personal favorite Hawaiian pie. The chicken wing dip is good for starters. Beer menu is always featuring new styles and a daily draft special every night. Plenty of tv’s to catch all the sports action.

Had this pizza today for the first time in 25 years, man has it changed. Tasted like cardboard with burnt cheese bubbles on top. And way too expensive. This used to be a treat back in the day when visiting the lake. Never again.

We met here for a late date and some drinks and food. There isn’t much in the W-B area where both of these things can be satisfied at a late hour. Just to be clear. I hate sports. I want to kill sports. That being said, this is an awesome sports bar. It’s clean, brightly lit, and the service we received was perfect. The bartender who served us food at a table was attentive and didn’t hover. The food was very good for a sports bar. The programming was of such a volume that normal conversation was possible. The crowd was middle aged. No douchey college guys getting piss drunk and yelling about various balls while grabbing each other’s. And location. Thanks Grotto. We”ll be back.

I would rate the service less than one start seeing as how I was verbally berated and belittled by an employee in the middle of the dining room in front of a full restaurant for stopping in to pick up my dad and coming inside to get him with my dog waiting in the car. Don’t get me wrong, I love my dog and would never leave him in the heat in a vehicle, it just so happened I was moving all of my belongings from Philadelphia PA and had no where to go with the dog while I was waiting for my dad to come and help me unload the moving truck at a storage unit. I guess the capacity to identify a situation before you react is too much to ask for, and if the employee would have bothered to find out, I wasn’t there eating, I wasn’t leaving my dog unattended while I enjoyed a meal for an hour, I was literally just stopping in to get my dad and had no where else to go with my dog as he is moving with me. I would never condone someone treating someone else like that in the restaurant I am a general manager at, and would have tried to speak with someone privately before ridiculing them in front of the entire restaurant. Then again, maybe this employee felt the rights of the dog comes before the dignity of the person? All I know is if she had taken care to address the situation with empathy instead of just attacking me she would have been able to see the food and water the dog had in the back of the SUV, the wait time the dog was in the car was less than 10 minutes, and I was just picking my father up, not leaving my dog unattended in the heat while I enjoyed a leisurely lunch.

Got the meathead pizza, it was delicious. Would have enjoyed myself a bit more if the waitress didnt make make me wait over an hour for my food. Great food, terrible service

I have family in the area and since I grew up going to the Bloomsburg Fair every year as a kid, Grotto’s pizza was always a must so it is a bit nostalgic for me. I’ll go right into that I’m only giving 4 stars at this point because I’ve ONLY ever done takeout orders here so I don’t have anything to base a full experience on. I read a few of the other complaints in Unilocal reviews and have almost avoided eating here because I don’t want my Grotto memories tainted. I’ve been treated with mutual respect at the order counters and rarely had a problem. One time I called for a pick up order about 15 minutes before they opened. They accommodated but whoever was unlocking the door a handful of minutes early when I arrived gave me a bit of grief even though my product was done and waiting for me. I can’t remember a time I’ve ordered a topping, what’s the need? «One large plain pie to go, please». The consistency of the sweet yet subtle amount of sauce they use and a dash of cheese is something to be admired. There really aren’t many places that can match up with the TASTE of Grotto’s, it is extremely unique and is likely why it is still a hit on fair midways. My one minor complaint is why it seems to dry out fairly easily the next day and isn’t nearly as good reheated in an oven or microwave. The H2O in the dough must be on the light side but I’ll forgive them for what. Don’t waste your time with wings or the like… hell, even pepperoni would be overkill. It also seems like you should avoid sit down service. Call ahead 20 minutes, right before leaving the mall nearby or work, grab and go. Want a six pack of beer with it? They have those too! /drool

The food was pretty good: ordered pizza and eggplant parm. The service was fine. We are a young family with small kids. All our requests were fulfilled without any issues.

This is a local GEM. Same as the locations in Delaware. Grotto is the type of place you take people who are visiting from out of town to. Some are impressed, some are not, but I consider this to be as good as anything you can find the in the major cities.

Worst customer service. Waited one and one half hour for a pizza delivery. Was told that no one pick the order up to place it. I would have to wait another hour. No apology given. There are plenty of pizza places. This one is off the list. This was at the Wyoming valley mall.

I’m not sure why the majority is rating Grotto as a terrible place. I usually only get take out. Their thick crust is outstanding. I love their pizza. The sauce needs a little salt, but when you’re cooking for the public, you can’t add too much. It is a little expensive. Wings are meh. Not meaty enough. Grand slam sauce is good.

Decided to give this place a try after being skeptical. I should have stuck with my gut feeling and not ordered from this place. I ordered fried calamari a plain pizza and chicken tinder basket. The pizza tasted like it was old frozen pizza(disgusting). The calamari, if that’s what u wanna call it, was like eating pieces of breaded something. As for the chicken tenders my dog would not even eat it and he eats anything you put in front of him. They were very very dry the honey mustard didn’t even help. Fries were soggy as hell. Positively won’t be ordering from this place anymore. Believe that.

We go to Grotto pizza when ever we go to the beach and since we were in the area we thought we would eat here, first the interior reminded me of a Denny’s in the 1980’s, my wife ordered a boli and a caesar salad which she thought was both good, I ordered mild wings which were great. Also ordered a 8″ personal pepperoni pizza, which came with 4 pieces of pepperoni and tons of sauce, it was a GROSS any boxed pizza would have been better. The waitress had no personality and her attitude came through when after 2 bites I sent the pizza back, we worse part of the experience is when we now do go to the beach and when grotto pizza is mentioned I am only going to think about a terrible pizza I had here.

We love the Grotto Pizza’s in Delaware and frequent them quite regularly when we travel on vacation. While traveling home from Boston we were pleased to find a Grotto Pizza along the way. Since we were in a rush we ordered several of their par-baked pizzas to go with the intent of freezing/eating them upon our arrival home. The pizzas traveled very well and were quite good upon eating them. While they were good and tasted like the Grotto’s we were familiar with, they just were not as good as the ones found along the coast in DE.

1 star rating is as low as Unilocal will let me go, otherwise i would go lower. Ate at the mall location this past Wednesday, wasn’t a good experience. Waited 10 mins to be seated. The service was average, the food was ok. My daughters order was wrong and after fixing it they said they would take it off the bill. After receiving the bill, it was not removed. After questioning it they said they would take half off. Because if this we will not be returning.

I called Grotto when I rolled into the adjacent Red Roof Inn at 10:30pm after driving a day long. The reasons for doing so were several: I was extremely hungry, worn out, and in need on a meal that wouldn’t destroy me with all kinds of unsavory dairy products, hence my genuine excitement by the«Pizza Russo,» a veggie pie with cheese. That’s actually on your menu?! Sweet. When I phoned, the young woman actually tried to dissuade me from ordering. «We don’t deliver after 10,» was followed by, «Well, we close at 11 anyway» when I said I’d come the whopping ONEMILE and pick it up, as it was only 10:30(«It’s 10:34,» she pointed out. Ummm. Right. Whatever. This is a PICKUP order. I am not dining in or something. So, just make this pizza! For real: wow. And so, I was finally«permitted» to order a Pizza Russo and Tomato and Basil Sicilian. Out of the blue, she asked if I wanted onions on the latter. How random. And no. If I wanted onions, I’d have asked for a Tomato and Basil Sicilian Pizza with onions. Next up: she doesn’t know WHERETHEPLACESHEWORKS is located, expect that it’s «in the mall.» She did not know the NAME of the mall, and it wasn’t written on the menu either. Wow. Finally, she finds another employee who knew the address. So guess what happens next? The Pizza Russo has cheese. The Tomato and Basil has NO basil, but it DOES have onions. Seriously? Did you just get EVERYTHING wrong? I waited until 11 for the second order to come out, and stand there and stare at my pizza and she frantically tries(and fails) to lock the front door. No freebies or anything! Just a lot of «Oh no oops!» Damn. Really? This place has horrible, clueless(though«kind enough») service, and brutal food. Make sure you are in Wilkes-Barre before 10pm, as that’s when most businesses seemed to close – and trust me, you don’t want to get stuck with this place as your only option for very, very obvious reasons.

My waitress last night was super awesome, so I figured I have to update my review of this place. Not only did the waitress bring us our buzztime players before we even asked for them, she provided perfect service with a smile. The manager even came by to ask us how things were — that never happened before and I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. The food last night was great, too. They must have changed up their staff because the server that provided poor service is long gone, and the newer girl is absolutely the best server I’ve had in a long time! Keep up the good work, Grotto!

Whenever we pass through this area on the way to visit family we stop. I really love their pizza. Great sauce and always get«The Works» cos I love that it’s topped with garlic! Yum, yum, yum!!! Okay, now my mouth is watering and I’m several states away! Hmmm, maybe they’ll expand down to North Carolina! We could sure use some decent pizza here!
