Lucke’s Cantina

Horrible service. Very slow! Don’t go to this place with hungry kids. The food is not worth the long wait and hungry meltdowns.

Walked in today on a Wednesday night, other than the bar, it looked like a decent steady dinner crowd– the sign said to «wait to be seated» but a waiter signaled us to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly. We took a seat outside and waited. We waited and waited — and waited some more — until we realized not only is no one coming to give us menus, but no one is even checking in on their two other tables. Not willing to wait any longer, and not ready to gamble with the possibility of poor service, we walked out with out anyone noticing us leaving. Really poor service, and I was really looking forward to a nice dinner out.

Picking up the Saturday Rib Special. They’re running a little behind so they offered me a drink on the house. Got a more of a «To Go» rather than «To Stay» drink. They thought my choice was appropriate. Smirnoff Raspberry Ice.

Great in the winter but forget summer weekends unless you want to wait. Don’t understand why they had a single bartender on a hot Saturday night in early August — for the entire restaurant! Owner nowhere to be found and unhappy folks all around. Maybe this place got too successful too fast.

The food was great. Waitress was good but it took forever. This is the 3 or 4 th time we have been here. Don’t come here unless you have 2 ½ hours to spare!!!

My bahama mama was so yummy! Food was ok — not the best authentic Mexican I’ve had. My husband’s and friend’s burritos contained rice that was uncooked and still crispy, so they were not charged for the burritos.
Good chips and salsa, but you have to pay like $ 7 for them.

We had a lousy meal here. Not very clean. Food did not seem authentic – my chicken fajita seemed to be glazed in teriyaki sauce. There is a charge for chips on the table. The margaritas we got were advertised as having top shelf liquor, but tasted as if made from 95% margarita mix and ice cubes. I’m sorry to say it, but I cannot recommend this restaurant. Lucke’s Cantina was not lucky for us.

The food was great! The server was very nice. The service was EXTREMELY slow. 2 hours and 15 minutes later, half of our group still had not received their meals. We asked for them to go and asked to speak with a manager. I was asked to leave my name and number. Not even the management cared to find out about our experience. Too bad, as the food is good… Only go if you have LOTS of time.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: the food is FANTASTIC. Very delicious. Chips tasted fresh and guacamole was one of the best I’ve ever had. Margarita was good and the food is worth the price.
HOWEVER, my family and I felt neglected by our server and felt that the service was lacking. First when we got in I had to flag down a server to get seated. When I flagged her down she said we can just find our own table in the back, even tho there was a sign that said «wait to be seated». Also other servers checked on their tables at least once every 5 – 10 minutes. Ours checked our table maybe 3 times the entire hour we were here. We had to flag the other servers down to get any service.
Now I understand it was busy on Mother’s Day but this was just a bit lacking Conclusion: good food, okay service. Still recommend the place. Come when it’s not busy!

I came here last weekend for Sunday brunch with a group of 6 pretty skeptical that I could get even halfway decent Mexican food in Wisconsin. The Texas snob in me was wrong and pleasantly surprised when my huevos rancheros turned out to be delicious. The preparation isn’t really your standard huevos, but it was still really good and the portion size is generous for what you pay ($ 6.95). I added chorizo for a little extra, which took the dish over the top. The bloody mary bar here is bomb. So many fixings and a ton of different bloody mary mixers to choose from (I stuck with the tried and true Zing Zang’s, of course). No 5^th star because my hashbrowns were so salty they were inedible and because the huevos weren’t 100% authentic. That said, the next time I’m in LG, I’ll be back for brunch!

Luckies has been our go to bar and restaurant since they’ve opened their doors. The owner is a U.S. Veteran and ensures everyone who walks through the door feels welcomed. The staff is friendly and their food is very delightful! I hope your try Luckies next time you’re in the Lake Geneva area.

Decent food, very expensive for what you get. Staff were short with us on the phone, and confused when we showed up to pick up our food. Not sure we’ll be back…

We tried calling for takeout on a Saturday night, and kept getting a busy signal — for about 1 HOUR! So I sent my husband to just go right to Lucke’s to put our order in, in person. When he got there, the hostess told him she had taken the phone off the hook because so many people were calling.
Um. What? You take your phone off the hook when customers are calling too much? WHAT?
Nice.

AWFUL SERVICE! We had a waitress who’s name was Karyn L. She was the worst waitress I have ever had. She said that she «couldn’t» do multiple checks. When we asked her why, she said it was because she didn’t want to go back and forth for each payment when it got busy. We asked if we could pay early, and she stormed off and said, «I would have had to do it anyway!» So rude! She only came back once to give us our food and had some one else give us a refill. When we were going to pay, instead of coming to us, she yelled from the door (since we were sitting outside) to come in and pay. We all decided not to tip her (which I usually tip 20%) but gratuity was added. Great food though! If it weren’t for the food I probably wouldn’t come back.

We went to Lucke’s because GF’s daughter loves their Guac. Like other Poor reviews the service was slow and the waitress was overwhelmed. The food aside from the Guac was far from anything special. I even left a note on the receipt about how poor the service was for a weekend night, I NEVER did that before. That’s how bad it was and we will not be back.

The waitress actually talked us out of ordering anything but quac and chips and convinced several tables of customers to leave without ordering explaining that the kitchen was slow taking over an hour per order. The pace of her service matched the kitchen. Didn’t even get a water refill. Had to track her down for our check. I’d have understood had the restaurant been packed but it was less than half full. All of the attention seemed focused on bar patrons.
Looking at other reviews, I’m wondering if anyone actually manages this place!
Won’t go back!

From the outside, it looks like it would be a decent place, but once inside it’s basically a bar with a back room with tables. The waitress took long and was too busy to come back and check on us. The margaritas were decent, and the food was decent, but not worth the price. I believe I’ve had better service and quantity from the taco trucks here in Milwaukee.

House margaritas were basically tequila and ice. I make them often enough to appreciate bad drinks. Any sour mix or Triple Sec? Young waiter guy would not correct it and was inattentive. Chimmys were meat and tortillas. Salsa was from a squirt bottle. Expensive for Mexican, although it is Lake Geneva. Won’t be back.

This place is great. The bartender reene is great so nice and friendly. The food is a awesome the eggs Benedict are killer. Must get a side of bacon with it. Sundays are great here. They have build your own bloody. This place is a must.

I really would like to rate this place higher as it is a go to for mexican food in the area, but the prices and the absolutely terrible service have to stop me from rating it any higher, I’ve been there 3 times sitting down for 10 – 15 minutes before getting up and leaving. Other times i have been there and have practically been forgotten about. The steak tacos are awesome and the other food is pretty good, It is odd paying a fairly large amount for chips and salsa when some places give you them for free.
As of late the last few times i have had the itch of Lucke’s i have called in my order for pickup, always works out well better service and i don’t have to wait for a refill on my drink. One complaint about that is there was a gratuity added in to my bill on a take out order, not sure if that is common practice but i thought it was very odd, Since then i have been looking for other places to eat.
