Great little place to stop for a pit stop. The restrooms are open to the public and are well maintained. This place has a deli, gelato and pastry counter, bar, restaurant, and store. Deli: Serves up fresh cut deli meats and mean tasty sandwiches. My fave is the muffuletta sandwich made with the local grown olives. Bar: Located in the back to the left. They have cool sports memorabilia of the 49ers. Plus tons of mounted animal heads including a life size mount of a polar bear and I think a brown bear. You can order the same lunch or dinner menu items from the restaurant in the bar. But no minors are allowed to dine in this area. Restaurant: Located in the front left side. A couple of days ago, I had the tri tip steak sandwich on a grilled buttered French roll. It came with a side salad for $ 16.95. The steak was a huge serving size but too large and tough to eat as a sandwich. I had to cut it in pieces against the grain and restructure my sandwich to eat it. The wait staff was awesome, all very friendly and attentive. Shop: Food items imported from Italy, jarred olives from their orchards, jellies/jams, cookies, sauces, tshirts, greeting cards, and cold case with alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. Love their muffuletta spread. There are indoor tables that you can sit and eat. They also have a few outdoor tables. FYI – depending on the direction of the wind, you can smell the aroma of cattle. Hey you’re in farming cattle country.

What a cute rest stop! Its got bathrooms you can trust, gelato place in the back, and lots of deli foods and snacks at a typical(upscale) general goods store. There’s also a giant bar on the side for a post dinner hangout. The restaurant is huge. We were seated behind the fake grape decorations and the faux wine barres, so you can definitely say they tried. Full menu of entrees with the option or the smaller, «little less» portions. Soup/salad bar with every entrée, as well as a generous chunk of garlic bread. Definitely enough options for a satisfying appetizer, although they really need to label the items. Pretty sure I ate ham in my potato salad dish, which was not my objective as a weekday vegetarian. I had pesto spinach ravioli, which looked measly at first, but I ended up getting dominated by the heaviness of the cheese and sauce. So much yum. Boyfriend’s Chicken Alfredo also quite the feast, looking delicious to the last bite. This place gets extra kudos for being considerate of their main audience group, knowing we want to have a good meal, but also need to be somewhere soon. Immediately seated and served drinks, mini-buffet to start and food arrived quickly. Waiter already had check prepared before we even asked for it. Now that’s great service!

Stopped by here almost a year ago and I don’t think I will visit on my next stop up north. Granzella is known for offering a large selection of pickled goods and other gourmet items. However, their prices are more geared towards a very upscale audience which can afford fancy pickled goods and items of that similar profile. After seeing the prices of their deli, ice creams, and pickled goods I think it’s safer to find a local source near my home.

We love this spot as a great stop in between Sacramento & Redding to stretch your legs — shopping, browsing, & eating. We have stopped here numerous times. If you have a pizza craving while traveling, this is the place! The deli is busy & they make good sandwiches for the road or eat there. Their olive /snack shop is fun to shop around & sample olives. This day, we ate in the restaurant. We both had the steak sandwich which was good(little bit tough though, on toasted garlic bread), I had side green salad & my husband had a hardy portion of waffle sweet potato fries.

This review is for the bar at the back of the building. An excellent stop if visiting the nearby national wildlife refuges(crackpot«militia» folks need not apply). A well stocked bar, friendly people and solid value food make stopping by a no brainer. The staff have always made us feel welcome and deliver above and beyond. I can’t say enough positive about the service and friendliness here. A welcome respite on the I-5. No visit to Sacramento NWR is complete without a visit.

We ate here for dinner. I ordered the ravioli with spinach and ricotta in a meat sauce. It was so wonderful! My husband ordered the tri tip special steak and he loved it. The steak came in 3 pieces. We’d eat here again but we paid about $ 18 for the ravioli in meat sauce and in this area it should cost about $ 15. If they served endless minestrone soup and fresh endless bread it’d be worth the price. They are pricey but the food is good. Plus is they have 22 ounce draft beers for $ 5. The salad bar is nice with lots of selection. The burgers are expensive too. If you are cheap and have time, go eat down the street at La Fortuna Bakery.

I went here for the first time this weekend. What a great place in the middle of what seems like nowhere(or at least a very small town). Great atmosphere, casual, but seems to have so much charm. The group I was with had lunch in the restaurant, but you can also order in the deli if you want to get a sandwich for take-out There is also a sports bar for those who want a more lively place. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich and the garlic fries. Delicious. I also tried some of their olive samples in their store section which were wonderful. I’d want to go there whenever I’m in the area.

I love this place! You have to try the olives and the deli sandwiches. The staff is attentive, the location is a part of history and the décor spectacular. There are not many places where you can see so many trophies for hunters. If you want to stand next to a Polar bear this is the spot.

I wasn’t sure about this place cause I saw they had three and a half stars only. I gave them four cause they deserve it. The food was super good. Authentic Italian deli food. Muff – a something. That was yummy. It was artichoke hearts olives and peppers and it was so tasty. We shared a sandwich and each ordered a dinner salad. I ‘Clare I’m bout ta pop I’m so full. Beers from around the world. Can’t beat that. I tried an English beer with apricot it was so good.

The food at the restaurant was beyond disgusting. It was the worst food I have had in a long time. The sauce on our raviolis looked as if they opened a can of tomato paste and dumped it straight on the plate. And, it tasted like that as well. The garlic bread was drenched in margarine, not butter. The bread was mediocre, and it wasn’t even toasted. The salad bar was poor, and the soup looked as if it was sitting out there for two days. The iceberg lettuce was torn in large chunks. The salad sides were unappealing. The potato salad looked like it had been blended and tasted like tuna salad – maybe that is what it was. The olives were the only thing that were good at the salad bar. The personal pizza was too thick. The canadian bacon tasted as if it had been artificially flavored. The lasagna tasted as if I was licking a salt block. The pasta was chewy and tough. They used the same tomato paste on the lasagna that they used on the pizza. We were burping up that horrible flavor for hours. I had to eat at least 5 Tums to settle my stomach. They should really have the cooks eat their own food. The plates were definitely overpriced. Paying $ 15-$ 17 for a plate of food of this quality was very disappointing. I am really curious who is running this place now. At this rate, their food sales will plummet. I guess they make up for this in the bar. I used to go here in the 90’s, and I used to really enjoy the pizza. I periodically visited Granzella’s up until about five years ago, and it was always pretty good. It was horrible this last visit and I will never go here again.

This place is beyond belief bad. In the 1980s it was an oasis in a sea of sameness. Now it thinks it’s gourmet but it’s been running on autopilot for years. Deviled eggs? Taste one once in awhile while you’re making them. Just needs a little salt. Biscotti? How’d you end up with the ones in the package you did when there are so many others that are so much better? Every single thing here has been a disappointment compared to the Granzella’s of the past. I highly recommend that item by item they sit around taste with the staff to have as many opinions as possible, and encourage honesty, and make some changes as needed. I will say that it’s nice to be able to get a baguette in the area here. The pizza wasn’t bad. This review is mainly about the deli and how it seems to think it’s gourmet but is really mediocre at best. All my friends who knew Granzella’s during our college years bemoan what the deli was compared to what it is now. Seriously. Taste the damned deviled eggs and ask yourself if anything about is remarkable, let alone even just plain good. Add some salt to the filling. Add a little mustard and more mayonnaise. It’s so easy to make delicious deviled eggs and yet theirs are terrible. It’s honestly like the original owner’s heirs have enough business acumen to expand the business and keep it going(and even sell products in Corti Bros., no less) but as if none of them possesses a palate to taste with and make food for the public. You can’t just follow a recipe. You need to TASTE and adjust the seasoning and so on at the end. Every single thing in the deli, including the sandwiches, has been a disappointment in recent years, and if you weren’t around in the 1980s you just wouldn’t have a clue how much better they were then. Far from being a dig at Granzella’s, I’m hoping they read this and actually take it as a challenge to re-evalute and improve the deli items for sale(and the packaged goods like those terrible biscotti they sell). Almost ANY biscotti would be better than what I tasted from there recently. Best of luck to the Granzella’s family and team in getting this all worked out. You have a problem and really don’t seem to know it.

Fantastic food, great interior and design. Service was a bit slow however. Our waitress had 9 tables, only 3 of which had people seated. She didn’t check on us as often as a nearby waitress did on her tables, prompting me to ask the other gal for help a couple times.

Fantastic lunch! Hubby and I went for the first time. He had the mushroom burger w/potato salad, me, the avocado burger with bacon, bunless with a side salad. Burgers come with choice of fries, potato salad, soup, fruit or salad. Superb burgers, full of juicy flavor, the side salad, as far as salads go, was a small meal in itself and delicious! Service was quick and our tea was kept topped. The green pepper hot sauce on the table, good stuff, we used quite a bit, is sold on site. Bought a large bottle, $ 5.99, on the way out. The food $ 36 for 2 burgers and 2 ice teas. Worth a stop on our next drive up this way.

Hv bn going to Granzellas for generations! It gets btr and btr w/the yrs! W/the addition of the hotel and sports bar it’s jst that much more enjoyable! Our fav is the deli — always hs bn. Their sourdough rounds are amazing! We always order Genoa salami and provolone w/a sourdough round. After hvng sampled various olives, I’ve purchased several varieties for friends and families as gifts. Granzellas also offers goods such as pasta, hot sauces, oils, vinegars, specialty condiments, candies, gelato, beverages, wines, microbrews, cards, etc. The restaurant is fabulous! You can’t go wrong. I’m nt too keen on the gift shop however. It’s shopkeepers are unfriendly and @ times confrontational. There is an overwhelmingly abundant amount of goods offered. Some quite unique and others… well, they mk one scratch the olé noggin’ drawing a blank.

A restaurant with a high reputation due to its being one of the few quality non-chain places along an unenticing stretch of I-5, it’s actually got more of a coffee shop vibe. The salad bar was pretty pathetic although not repellent, and the chef had no idea how to sauté vegetables, judging from what I got. I did like the main, though. I had fried chicken, three not particularly large pieces with thick crunchy coating(no grease), and tender well-cooked meat inside. Service very good.

Second visit: I took our son this past weekend to go visit my husband who is still staying in Williams, CA. We told our son to pick what type of food he wanted so of course the 7 year old wanted PIZZA! We heard that this place had good pizza so we headed back for the second weekend in a row, boy oh boy am I glad we did!!! The pizza here is delicious! We ordered a large regular crust pizza(they have thin), I am a huge big and thick crust lover and this was perfect! We ordered half meatlover and half creamy garlic chicken pizza. Both were great but our favorite was the meatlover one. Next time I really want to try the combo since it has the meats that were on the meat lovers with some veggies! If you are a cheese lover then you will fall in love with the amount of cheese that they use on their pizza… I mean thick, stringy, melty goodness all over! And they don’t cheat you on the toppings either! Can’t wait to head back for that combo! My husband is now working an hour and 20 min past this place and we have plans for me to order a pizza Togo on my way to see him. It was even delicious the next two days as we finished off the leftovers! We ordered the large with a salad bar and it fed is that night at dinner, a midnight snack back at the hotel and two days later for lunch! First visit: My husband is staying near by for work so we got the chance to eat at the restaurant here. We have been to the deli and store part many times on the way up north. Our meals in the end were good but it took some requests and time to get it all right. I had the chicken Alfredo with broccoli. It was delicious once I got more sauce. It came out originally very dry and I had to ask for a side of sauce. It took about 5 min to get that. Luckily I was nearly full from my trip to the salad bar so I took most of it back to our hotel. My husband ordered the prime rib special. He ordered it rare and it looked rare when it came out but it was just the appearance, when it was cut into everything was completely brown and cooked done. They were able to replace it for him with the most rare piece they had to offer and it was delicious! Great flavor and so soft! There Fries were great and they had amazing horseradish sauce to go with it all. We really enjoyed the salad bar. They have the best croutons!!! The lady said they make them homemade with their sourdough bread and they are very garlicky which made them perfect. I also liked their green olive blend with peppercinis.ö

This was a great pit stop on our way to camping in Mendocino National Forest. We stopped on the way up because of all the signs saying they had an olive tasting bar and a deli. We tasted some olives and checked out the store area before ordering our sandwiches. The sandwiches were delicious and hit the spot. I really loved their hot and zesty olives but they only sold them in a large jar and I really didn’t need that many olives :) On our way back from camping a few days later we stopped again — this time to try their restaurant and dinner. The bar was hopping and the décor was fun. They have salad bar that reminds me of your typical midwest salad bar. It was good though and came with a lot of the different items on menu. My friend ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and it was very good. I had the country fried steak and OHMY! Gravy for days! The gravy was good and so was the steak but I really didn’t need the entire plate full of gravy. I couldn’t even see my potatoes under it all. I was still good though. This is a great pit stop on the 5.

Stopped by on a friend’s recommendation and it was worth the stop! Very tasty Bacon Burger… and the Mrs had the Patty Melt. A very busy place in the middle of the day, there’s a shop along with the restaurant where one can pick up some local goods and distinct beers. We picked up some of the locally made raspberry jam. Very cool place and great food.
