You used to call me on my cellphone. I bet Jordan can cook better than these chefs. 95 — 96 Bulls FTW!!!

One word: OUTSTANDING. This was a dinner experience unlike anything we’ve seen before. The corn bread lived up to its reputation and was truly life changing! It’s nice to see a restaurant whose mission is educating customers as well as serving excellent food. We will be recommending A Chef’s Kitchen to our friends and family, and we’re already planning our next visit. What a wonderful evening!

I am glad I went. The presentation and the entertainment was great. The food was good not great. I would go back for the presentation and entertainment not the food

If there’s one place I would suggest to go for a special occasion it would be A Chef’s Kitchen. Like others have said, you do have to plan ahead and call for a reservation in advance. Although, I have been lucky with cancelled reservations. Check the website and if a specific menu really stands out to you, just call and ask to be put on the waiting list. This is a dining experience, so plan on spending a few hours enjoying yourself with amazing food and great wine pairings. A Chef’s Kitchen is great for a romantic meal or a larger group of friends, but wouldn’t suggest it for younger children.

This is a must when visiting Williamsburg. You receive not only an incredible meal but amazing tips on food preparation and how they cooked the meal. You will need a reservation. You can’t call that day or even the week before. Worth every penny and then some!

For the high cost, it did not meet my expectations. It was very good but I can’t see returning due to the prices. Nice atmosphere and good service. Everything went fine but the value is highly questionable.

Okay this is an experience more than it is a meal but the food is fantastic so it’s definitely one you don’t want to miss. Reservations: If you want to ensure a seat at the show be sure to make reservations 90 days ahead of time. This place is harder to get reservations than the hottest nightclub in Manhattan. That said we went on a wait list and who would’ve thunk we got in! As did a businessman on a day of travel to Williamsburg… so there is hope for all you last minute-ers. Service: fantastic! All the staff that you’ll encounter are Chefs. Obviously Chef John and his Sous Chef are but the young lady serving is one as well. She prepared our soup, tasted fabulous! In any case these Chefs know how to treat a guest /patron. Meal: First off the Chef John uses a fixed menu but it changes each month so I won’t comment on specific dishes as you probably won’t have them. What I will say is everything we ate was awesome! Now for those of you with a finicky belly the menu is posted on the website so if there’s an item or two that you can’t eat then you’ll know way ahead of time. Price: Outstanding! My wife and I are major foodies at high and low cost restaurants and everyone in between. This one gives you all the quality(ANDMORE) you’d get at other 5 Star gourmet joints but at a much lower price. Fist off everyone gets 4 very healthy pours of various wines. One with each portion of their meal. That alone would $ 30 to $ 60 per patron. Second, this is a 5 course meal, not including the wonderful hor d’oeuvres we enjoyed… that size of meal will run at least the $ 85 you’d per person to get this experience. Lastly, there’s no need for pre or post entertainment(i.e. movie, etc.) as the Chefs’ are more entertaining than the latest 5 star movie review by Rotten Tomatoes. Cleanliness: Absolutely no worries this place is run by Chefs. Spotless kitchen. Overall: A MUST attend at least once! 5 Stars!

Three stars grudgingly. This place is way over hyped. The chef seems like a nice guy. The food was average. The meal cost $ 90 plus tip and stretched almost 3 hours. Seriously! What is the deal with Unilocal reviewers? Lemmings. I could easily name 3 – 4 restaurants I could get a better dinner for ½ the price. Most nights we do a better job at home. Overall under impressed.

2−10−15 Absolutely fabulous! Not only the food, but the whole experience of dinning and having your own private cooking lesson at the same time. We were greeted by Champagne and Hors d’oeuvres. There was a five course meal and wine pairing that lasted 3 hours long. Vegetable soup, salad with their own fresh made dressing-Rieling A seafood dish-Savignon blanc meat dish(Berkshire pork) Tempranillo. And a very different cheesecake for dessert. A very enjoyable night. The place has a well stocked wine area and kitchen paraphernalia for sale. Enjoy!

After looking forward to this restaurant experience for over a month, both my wife and I were way more entertained with the presentation, and the wine, than we were with the actual food selections. For the money, we could have eaten two nights at most any other restaurant in town and chosen our favorite foods as opposed to relying on the chef’s selections. No real knock against any of the food quality other than the fact that we wish there would have been a better dessert offering other than cheesecake that neither of us appreciated. YES we actually did taste it but did not go back for a second bite. Maybe perhaps some quality expensive ice cream for the non cheesecake fans to provide an option? We did have fun but doubt that we will ever attend any other chef selection dinners in the future.

Excellent dinner/activity! Went with a friend and we loved the food, the wines and the cooking show! We took notes all over the recipes they gave us. I am in food service and still learned some tips! What a great concept…

This has got to be the best place I have ever been to in my whole life. When you come in, the front is a retail store where you can buy most of the specialty products that this place teaches you how to cook. You go to the host stand and you are guided into the back where the host/hostess has reserved a table for you. Immodatly after being shown to your chair, you realize that the place is set up facing a stage and that you are the audience to a cooking class. As you are eating each course of the meal the chefs are explaining to you exactly how they are making the dishes you are eating. They guide you through the process and they have cooking down to a science. They explain what brand of sugars to use and why you use it over the other brands. They also explain the chemistry and the physics involved in simple terms. You get a total of 4 glasses of very good wine that are perfectly paired with each course. They tell you what wine you are getting and where it’s from so be sure to write it down as you go . They also send you home with the instructions for cooking the full meal and if you follow them and take notes, it will taste exactly like the meal of the day. It is a very small intimate experience with unique chefs that actually know what they are doing, so you do need to make your reservations at least three weeks in advance to ensure that you get a spot. It’s a bit pricey but it’s worth the wait and the money. I actually felt more educated after leaving the restaurant and it has made all of my cooking expirence a better. What an outstanding place to eat!

Okay, this was seriously one of the best nights I have had since we moved to Virginia a couple years ago. The food was incredible! The chefs were entertaining and hilarious and taught us all a lot. I wish I had someone to drive us home so that I could have had more of the wines. Each bottle is $ 10 and they are all fantastic. A five course meal with four full glasses of wine, entertainment and knowledge! What is there to dislike?! Appetizers: sparkling wine, blue cheese and pistachio balls and little pieces of bread with fig! So great! First course: corn and potato chowder, creamy and fresh with crunchy tortilla strips on top Second course: tomato and watermelon salad with cornbread. Oh my sweet goodness, the corn bread is amazing! Third course: scallops with squash nests. Seriously, the scallops were melt in your mouth. Best scallops I’ve ever had! Fourth course: Hereford steaks with a gruyère gratin. The steak was cooked perfectly! The potatoes were rich and cheesy. We were so full by this point we had to take some of the steak home because we couldn’t finish it. We were afraid we wouldn’t be able to eat the last course. Fifth course: sweet potato pie with meringue and. Candied pecans. This was so light, we were able to eat it all! We will be back for sure! I love this place. It is now our go to date place. You have to check it out!

This place is absolutely amazing I have been here four times with my wife for various occasions Valentine’s Day, birthdays and such and every time it has been delicious. There are usually things on the menu that I would not normally eat but the way it is prepared here is so good. It’s cooked right in front of you almost like a cooking show he explains ingredients where they came from why he does what he does and how he does what he does the cornbread is an absolute dream best cornbread I have ever had in my life I would pay the whole tab just to eat the cornbread some people say it’s a little pricey but if you look at what you get it really isn’t that much repair it was four different wines five course meal everything handmade right in front of you. If you haven’t been go you’ll never find a better restaurant

Spectacular. I’ve been twice six months apart and it was super delicious both times. They post their menus online and you can see what they’re serving that month and even if what you see doesn’t necessarily strike you as being in your particular wheelhouse… go anyway and eat what they give you. I have eaten things I normally don’t, and have always thoroughly enjoyed what the chef prepared. Tonight we had: –Soup — Summer squash and Vidalia onion chowder with three-pepper croutons and parsley-Basil pesto. Very tasty. Delicious croutons. I thought the soup needed a touch more salt, but my parents were happy with the salt level. –Salad: Baby spinach, strawberry and goat cheese salad with toasted pecan vinaigrette. Wonderful salad. I don’t eat goat cheese, but everything tasted delicious together. That toasted pecan vinaigrette… daaaamn! –Skillet baked corn bread Their signature thing that is always on the menu. I do not like corn bread. I love this stuff. Just slather it with honey butter and eat it. –Appetizer: Jockey Club crab cake with fresh and sun-dried tomato sauce and cucumber with grilled yellow bell pepper slaw. I would never have thought of pairing a red sauce with a crab cake, but that sauce with the crab cake and the slaw… nom. –Main course: Piccata of poulet rouge hen Marsala with Italian summer truffle-studded edamame purée and caper sauce. The pan sauce was to die for. Perfectly cooked chicken, and the edamame was super tasty. –Dessert: Lemon blueberry crumb cake with blueberry custard sauce. Jesus Christ in a chicken basket. Very good. Wonderful sauce and the crumb cake had a healthy layer of crumb topping. I licked my plate clean. Seriously. Now call them up, make a reservation, and make sure you go hungry.

Great ingredients not messed up. That is how chef John Gonzales describes his job. He and his chefs do much more than that. Sure, he does use the best ingredients, but there is so much more here. Every course of the meal was done perfectly. Expect to appreciate food tastes like you probably haven’t before. Not only that, you enjoy the meal as they cook it for you in a 30 seat kitchen. The chefs entertain you with jokes stories and other information, and openly offer to field your questions. It is pricey
