My mother held my baby shower here and everything about the experience was wonderful. We’ve had a handful of people asking for info about hosting an event here as a result! Absolutely great!

Good food, good wine and good hospitality. Simple as that. H&J is my local bar. We also celebrated my business partner’s 50th birthday here and he was more than happy with the outcome. They have great music, and a good wine list. Let them choose the tasting with some cheese and charcuterie, then go with the meatballs.

Good atmosphere and wide choice of drinks but has limited food options and small servings too.

This location is cute, I’m a huge fan of christmas lights, add that to the woodworks from the bar to the seats, plus some flowers in mason jars, and you get what looks like a DIY homesy feel in a dimly lit cabin. Went here with a friend for Roberta’s specials and was not disappointed. We split 4 orders of square deliciousness, the Bee Sting, Cheesus Christ, Beastmaster, and the special of the day, the Upside down pizza. My favorites in order are the Beastmaster, Bee Sting, Cheesus Christ, Upside Down.

I came here for the Roberta’s takeover and had the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Story is kind of long, but the gist is that this seems like a good event space from all of the other reviews, but I know to never visit as a customer because the staff, including management, treat customers terribly. Anyways, here is what happened in bullet points: — Arrive at 6:00pm and and ask for a table for 4, told it will be 30 minutes and they will call me, I head out to a bar for a drink. — Three of the 4 of us arrive at 6:25pm, I have yet to be called but I know the 4th person just got off the subway and is about 5 minutes out, I wanted to see how much longer the wait was. — The host, who also claimed to be the owner, tells us that it will be 30 – 45 more minutes because our entire party is not present. This obviously made no sense to me because all I wanted to see was how many were ahead of us. We had yet to be called and we were never told of any policy regarding entire party. Why would it matter if we are all there 25 minutes after you told me it was a 30 minute wait? also, why would that bump me to the back of the line? — I try to get a logical reason from the host/owner as to why we have to wait 30 – 45 more minutes. His logic never makes sense to any of us(the 4th person in our party walks in while we are trying to figure out why we were bumped back) — The host/owner proceeds to rudely tell my friends wife that she’s obviously is not listening. This angers my friend who just walked in so he tells the host that he is being a jerk(more salty language was used, but at no point did anyone yell or make a scene). — We all walk out and the host/owner yells at us out in the street that«You don’t have this! You don’t have this pizza!» We all walk to another fine pizza establishment(yay Fornino!) and have a great meal. This was the most rude and strange service I have ever had at a restaurant, needless to say I won’t go back.

Came here for Roberta’s kitchen takeover. It’s a fine venue — no frills, seating parties at long tables right next to each other. The food was fine, the pizza toppings were good, but the deep dish aspect just felt like added carbs with no extra bang in each slice. The service was the worst part of the meal. The venue was a bit loud but repeatedly asking if I’m sure about my order is not why I came here. If I have leftovers, I’ll take them home. It’s not that hard. It also took a long time for everything — the ordering, the food, the bill. All in all it was an enjoyable meal, but that’s because I had good company, not because they provided a great experience.

I have been meaning to write H&J a review for sometime now. My friends hosted a large(75 person), non-traditional baby shower here for my husband and I, and I could have not been more pleased. The back catering hall was reserved for my party, while the main bar stayed open for regular patrons but this was not a problem because since we had the event much earlier in the day than H&J’s normal business hours, the venue was pretty much ours. Pamela, one of the owners, not only corresponded with my friends and I up until the event, but worked the event as well. She was super sweet, responsive, extremely accommodating, and had an all around comforting personality. We brought in our own catering, which the venue sets up and serves for a staffing fee, and we purchased a round of beer and wine for everyone for a toast. There were flowers on the tables, linens and glassware/playing were provided. Moreover, the space just had a very warm and inviting atmosphere. I could go on and on. After the shower, we got rave reviews from our guests, and I would not hesitate to host another event here. Thank you, Pam!

They always have a great rotation of quality beers and wines, and now they have whiskey! They also have solid food, and often have chefs come in for brunches and dinners. I just came for a Robertas kitchen takeover and it was AMAZING! Also, Kris(or Curd as they call him) is a solid bartender/cheese expert. Ask him for recommendations on pairings and you will not regret it.

I just hosted an event at Humboldt and Jackson and I couldn’t be happier with how everything came out. The venue is just so perfectly cozy and charming and made everyone feel comfortable as well as excited about the event. Sam and Bill were so easy to work with and made the whole thing stress-free. On top of the perfect ambiance, the food, drinks, service, and overall experience was just perfect. All of my friends loved the place and were trying to come up with the next event to host there as everyone just loved the place. I highly recommend this place for an event but it is also great just to visit with friends.

This is a great little neighborhood spot — love meeting a friend here for a beer. It has a lively spirit, like everyone is your friend. There is a great back area that can be rented out if you’re looking to have a little gathering. The food is good and the have a great beer/wine sample deal that is worth making a special trip.

I had my wedding at Humboldt and Jackson on Sept 19th and it was incredible! Pam, Bill and Sam at Humboldt and Jackson made everything about the entire process — from wedding planning, coordinating, to the actual ceremony and reception itself — an absolute delight. We were able to rent the entire venue, which fit 85 guests more than comfortably throughout the front and back rooms. The ceremony was hosted in the back room with the party flowing through both rooms for the rest of the evening. Literally everything was provided and included in our contract: A platform/stage for the ceremony, sound system, venue staff, a CHEF that created a menu customized to our guests’ dietary restrictions, an extensive selection of beautiful cheese and charcuterie platters for guests to eat throughout the night, and of course an open bar. Humboldt and Jackson even provided thoughtful details like candles and flower petals for the aisle, reserved signs for tables, printed menus, and flowers throughout the venue. Pam was our day-to-day contact leading up to the event and working with her was a literal dream. She was super responsive, always available, and offered to work directly with any third parties we chose to hire(Photo Booth, Dough donuts which we specially ordered, etc.) I truly felt like the only thing my husband and I had to worry about was looking great and showing up at the venue. Since Saturday, we’ve received countless texts and emails from our friends and family with the same feedback: it was the best wedding & party they’ve ever attended! If you’re searching for a wedding venue that makes planning a wedding feel easy, and delivers a beautiful and unforgettable wedding day, Humboldt and Jackson is the place.

This place is great! My boyfriend & I go for Tuesday night trivia and always end up ordering food and drinks. The menu is small which makes my life easier cause, let’s be real, I’m bad at making decisions. Meats and cheeses are all great, and the servers do always good job of explaining them to make sure you don’t get something you hate. The hummus is nooooms. We always have the same server/bartender and I should find out his name but he’s awesome and super nice.

This is a very cute little bar and restaurant. The lighting and ambiance are lovely. I would describe their menu as hipster bar food. They have a nice but small selection of local cheeses and meats. Their beer cheese and buffalo chicken rillettes are served in mason jars and are delicious. We also ordered the sausage platter, which was yummy, although the pork sausage was a bit dry. They have a pretty solid beer list, and some wines. I did not care much for my apricot sangria as it was far too watered down– more juice than wine. We will probably return as it is very cute and cozy(and nearby!). I also enjoyed the 1920s music playing in the background.

Its a strange feeling when you want to see a local business succeed, but you don’t want it to become so popular that you can’t get a seat at the bar yourself. Know what I mean? This is an amazing place to either duck in for a quick bite and a pint, or set up camp for the whole evening. Ive lived around the corner for several years, and was at first skeptical about«another bar» moving into our otherwise mainly residential nook in Williamsburg. Then I meet the owners. Sam, Billy, and Pam. Their business model is to have a cool place for locals to stop by and be social. They nailed it. I hadn’t realized what we were missing out on, and Im ho happy that they choose our hood. It has proven to be the perfect spot for a casual night out with other locals, and escape the mostly shitty Bedford Avenue scene. They remain true to their«American Tasting Room» mantra, by only providing their customers with the finest domestic beers, wines, meats, and cheeses. Not sure what you’re in the mood for? just ask. Their suggestions have been spot on so far. Oh…and the have an epic trivia night on Tuesdays.(Dr. Lazer’s Trivia Night) Definitely check it out. Its hosted by a local. Trivia night takes place in their gigantic back room that is perfect for parties, private events, and impromptu dance parties. Don’t pass this by. Try the sausage platter. Perfect date spot.

I’ve been meaning to visit this little corner bar for a while now because it looks so damned cute. Williamsburg trendy hipster, log cabins, plaid shirts, beards, deer, foxes and owls, hackneyed stereotype cute but, cute nonetheless. You’d imagine some real bourbons and a wood chip fire in here and that’s sort of the vibe I got when I got inside one rainy day. They predominantly do locally sourced beers, wines and bar snacks plus which is all very commendable. They make their alliances with local providers visibly clear & I do like that they all support each other. They are also encouraging of you to taste and sample the wine menu in smaller portions at $ 5 an eight of a glass. I took advantage of this and had 3 red– all very nice but all on the sweeter side of the spectrum. We ordered a little selection board of cured meats — the blueberry and elk was delicious! For a second I saw myself sniffing the whole sausage like a cigar, then violently dunking it into a jar of blueberry jam and ravenously taking a bite sucking out all the juice… Ok back to reality. This fantasy however was fully realized when the beer cheese fondue was served up with some pretzels and market veg. We hoovered up and scraped the cheese dish dry. My partner and I unanimously agreed next time, we are getting one each — no sharing. If I had one teeeeeny weeeeeny little criticism, it would be that the table bread was not very good. The cheeses and meats were so good it felt a shame. A Bakari stick would have got me ordering more drinks and cheeses no question. In all it was lovely. The interior boasts quite a number of tables that I couldn’t imagine being filled up unless they are planning to expand their menu to incorporate more proper meals. Either way we’ll be back.

I cannot say enough good stuff about this place. Just hosted a private party here to celebrate the upcoming birth of me and hubby’s first child. The place was everything we wanted from a venue. I had looked around the neighborhood for a venue to host our special event of around 50 people and was shocked at the astronomical prices of restaurants that had private party rooms. Had almost given up on the hood when I remembered passing by this place, which used to be an old-school Italian catering hall, and noticed it had been nicely redone. The owners are the most amazing young couple, I had been in here before and could not believe what they had done with the place. They had done their own renovations, making it more spacious and modern but all the while keeping the original warmth and charm of the place. For example, the original crystal chandelier still hangs in the vaulted ceiling of the party room. It just works with the newer pared-down décor, they just give it new life and it makes the space feel extra classy ;) We could not have asked for a better party. The vibe was intimate and loving. The proprietors let us bring our own flowers, food and music but still provided the ambiance through the décor, the lighting, the perks(read on) and most of all the impeccable service. The staff took care of the buffet all night, provided guests with open bar, and were there every time we needed something even though they still had their front of house guests to attend to.(I now wonder how they did that!) All the tables were laid out with linens, the venue’s own small flower arrangements, and candles. They provided us everything we needed including beautiful plates, flatware, servingware, chafing trays and buffet setup so guests could serve themselves. We really did not feel lacking of anything all night. When it suddenly occurred to us that everyone was arriving with heavy coats and we had not thought of where put them, the staff instantly produced a coat rack, assembled it, added hangers, and saved the day(the first of several times throughout the night). Every one of our needs was catered to and the staff treated our guests like gold. By the end of the night I left feeling as though I could NOTWAIT for our next event so that we could come back and throw a party here again. The best part is that all of this FITINOURBUDGET. Really, you are not going to get this much bang for your buck anywhere else in the area. Thank you Humboldt and Jackson! Looking forward to our next visit.

This bar is the cutest place ever. It has all the elements I am looking for in a bar. There’s a lot of attention being paid to the littlest details: the lights cast a glow without being too dim, the menu is printed on heavyweight textured paper with a beautiful typeface, the water glasses are petite and fit in the palm of your hand. The selection here is pretty much first date food: wine and beer flights, meat and cheese plates. Very wise choice economically too, since there’s no need for mixologists or chefs. However, I would highly recommend getting the mulled wine. It was smooth and just the right temperature — warm and soothing, but not so hot that the alcohol vapors were choking me a little. It’s served in a tea cup, so you drink delicately from it. And oh, they were playing really chill electronic music like Empire of The Sun. Whoo!

Very small menu… but I guess that’s why it’s called the tasting room… Meet & Cheese Voila! And snacks, The End. The«snacks» are over priced, I don’t know if I’m grasping what this place is doing exactly but it was pretty busy on opening night. If your don’t eat meat or cheese you probably will not enjoy this place and it’s definitely not a place for dinner.Name says it all«Tasting Room.» LoL Wine list is not bad and at $ 10 per glass it’s fairly priced.
