Just super good and very friendly. Super happy with my amp and going back to get guitar fixed and get the complimentary basics.

Went in for a set up and to replace a pick guard and fix an input jack. Asked them to order a certain pickguard if they could get it wholesale/​discounted. They went ahead and ordered it retail. Whatever. First time I came to pick it up, input jack wasn’t fixed. The next three times I showed up (during their listed hours) to pick up the guitar they were closed. Finally pick it up (no apologies for being closed the previous times) and they tell me it’s all good to go, minus the low fret which would need replacing; something I would have appreciated knowing about before picking up so I could have gotten that fixed. Amateurs. Save yourself the hassle and go to Main Drag.

This place is great — so great that I actually navigated to Unilocal dot com, had to tell it to remind me of my password, logged in, and sat down to write this review (the second one I’ve written, ever).
All of that is meant to illustrate that I wouldn’t be writing this if this shop wasn’t a really valuable addition to the community. It is. They have the location exactly right — just a few blocks away from The Sweatshop and close to the living quarters of a lot of musicians (like me!). They also have the inventory exactly right: Specialize in sticks, cords, patch cables, earplugs, picks, 14″ snare drumheads, Advil… all the little things you need but never have (or have, but is broken).
On top of all of that, the instruments they do have for sale are really crazy, interesting breeds that you won’t find at other places. Example: I went in there for the first time today intending just to buy drumsticks, and ended up leaving with a microphone meant for use in a U.S. Army tank. Because, c’mon, where else are you going to find something like that?
On top of all of that, their prices are super reasonable — cheaper than most places I’ve been in NYC (though, fwiw, they had also just started a sale when I went in). The owners Charlotte and Hank are incredibly personable, friendly, non-​pretentious, and seem genuinely excited to serve the community in this interesting little wedge of Brooklyn.
So, let’s review:
Locally-​owned? Check.
Helpful/​friendly staff? Check.
Has the essentials? Check.
Has stuff you wont find anywhere else? Check.
Is affordable? Check.
If you’re in the Montrose/​Grand Ave L area and need musical equipment, there’s basically no reason for you not to shop here.

Charlotte and Hank (a couple– how fucking cute is that!?) just opened this shop last Sunday and let me tell you– They not only know their shit but they are humble, friendly, personable and welcoming. They have the warmest hearts and I’m so glad I took a different route home from getting food in my new neighborhood this past Sunday. I am in the market for a new electric (they have rare and used guitars– electric and acoustic) and definitely want to support this place once I decide what I want! They sell gear, picks, cords, pedals, jewelry made by a local band, weird key instruments… amps… Just get in there and feel this new place out for yourselves. You can just feel the hard work and love they have put into this shop. You will thank me later. ;)
