Stopped in to get some carryout the young man that was working was so knowledgeable and so friendly I could have talked to him for hours. Ordered three different roles all tuna. They were huge and they tasted amazing. Prices are very reasonable they gave me plenty of ginger but I think next time I’d ask for extra soy sauce if you’re getting carryout the containers were only filled half full the soy sauce.

Was on a business trip and wanted to eat good sushi. Was not disappointed ! The look and ambiance of the restaurant was ok nothing fancy but the food was very good! Even excellent! My friends were not big sushi lovers so they let me order and they just loved everything. The service was really friendly and our server was funny making us really feel at ease. I recommend this place for your next sushi craving and it was decent priced!

I went here for a celebration lunch with my family and friends. I’m giving Sushiya one star because the food tasted fine. The service was terrible though. To begin with, the waitress was not going to smile no matter what. It seemed like we were hassling her by being there. We ordered the Vegetarian Roll Plate which was described as «Chef’s choice 3 kind of rolls(total 18pcs), Futo Maki & Inari Plate.» My friend ordered the Sushi Plate described as «3 pieces of Nigiri Tuna Roll & Shrimp Tempura Roll.» When my vegetarian plate came it only had the three rolls on it. I asked the waitress about the Futo Maki and Inari and she said, «Sorry, the menu should have said „or“ instead of having a comma between the rolls and the Futo Maki.» I explained to her that it had a comma and then a «&», which led my husband and I to believe that all items were included. She just said, «Sorry, no.» and walked away. Even though she acknowledged that their menu was wrong, she was not at all concerned about fixing it. She could have easily said that it was wrong, but that they would honor it. No, she didn’t care that we were all left hungry. I had to order two more dishes for my kids since we only got 1⁄3 of the food that we thought we were getting. One of the dishes I ordered was a noodle bowl. It was such a small amount that my kids ate that in about 1 minute. Oh, and the three«chef’s choice» rolls were of course the most basic rolls they could make. And, when we ordered she never asked us which option we wanted(the three rolls or the Futo Maki), so was it really an either or? Also, I mentioned what my friend ordered because the«&» in her description was honored. She received both the tuna roll and the tempura roll. And, our water glasses were hardly ever refilled. We would have made more of a fuss, but we were there with friends and didn’t want to embarrass them or ruin the celebratory meal further. Clearly this restaurant is just concerned with gouging people rather than providing a nice experience.

We had a celebration dinner here and it really was great. The owner was so patient with us as we «studied»(as she put it) the menu. We are relatively new to sushi. We had a mixture of raw and not raw and everything was so good! California roll, Alaskan roll, Philly roll, and a few local rolls were ver good and so incredibly fresh. Even tried an Uni shooter. Definitely recommended.

We’ve been back to Sushiya a couple of times and each experience has been better and better. It is clear that our first trip was an anomaly. The food is consistently good(better than you’d expect given the strip mall location). My wife and I have had: Sushi Boat: 5⁄5 Nabe Udon: 5⁄5(dinner), 4⁄5(lunch) Yakisoba: 4.5÷5 White Tiger Roll: 5⁄5 Teriyaki: 4⁄5(a little small on the portion of meat) Hibachi: 5⁄5(great mix of items!) Veggie Rolls: 4⁄5 Calamari App: 5⁄5 Friendly staff, great servers. Great neighborhood spot.

Had a sushi craving in Williamsburg and naturally turned to Unilocal for help in picking a good spot. We were staying at a resort hotel on Ironbound Road and Sushiya scored points for both their good reviews and for being close to where we were staying. There seems to be a direct correlation between good sushi and bad strip malls — the dodgier the mall, the better the sushi in my experience! We were happy that the mall was a bit dodgy :) The atmosphere in the sushi house was nice, bright without being gaudy and super comfy chairs. No blasting AC either, thankfully. Our server was, in a word, intense. He was amped to serve everyone(he was the only server that evening) as quickly as possible, as well as seating everyone who came in. He earned his tips that night. My wife is a fan of the spicy, crunchy crab roll at Wasabi in Williamsville and she was hoping that they had something similar on the menu at Sushiya. They didn’t have such a roll on the menu, but they did offer to make her a special roll to her specifications, which was a nice offer. She decided against a specialty roll, but did order a California roll, which was fresh and tasty. I had the Alaskan roll(salmon) and the Spicy Tuna roll, both were excellent. The fish was firm but not too firm, the spice on the tuna roll was just right. They were very refreshing(and filling) after our appetizer of steamed edamame. I could take or leave edamame, it doesn’t add much to the meal for me, I usually order it because, aside from the salt, it is usually the healthiest appetizer on the menu. Prices are par for the course(relatively cheap) when it comes to strip mall sushi. Definitely check Sushiya out when you are in Williamsburg, you will not be disappointed!

I visit this place for lunch every time I visit Williamsburg. When available, definitely try their uni shooter. It’s fairly priced compared to other sushi places in the DMV area and it’s nicely done. Their chicken fried rice is excellent. Sushi platter is fresh but they only include general cut of sushi such as salmon and tuna. Service is very friendly and accommodating. Overall it’s a good sushi restaurant. Definitely give them a try if you visit Williamsburg.

Came in for a quick lunch with my daughter. I had the Yaki Soba with chicken that was ok. My daughter had the chicken rice bowl that was very good. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. The portions were perfect for lunch. I’d come back

Quality is average and portions are average and price is average. Service is prompt. Nothing stands out. Interior and lighting could use an update. Ambience is important for those prices and never felt like a nice place. Come for the sushi and you will be satisfied but the dining experience is forgettable.

Best sushi I have had in a while. We had TNT roll, and rainbow roll with a twist. The inside was spicy tuna with chopped peppers. Delicious! We also shared the miso soup perfect for a cool fall day, a house salad and a seaweed salad. The seaweed salad is unique. I highly recommend! In addition this place has hibachi. Nice atmosphere

Had the seaweed salad and a couple of rolls. I had the Strawberry roll which was good but doesn’t need the mayo sauce on there. Other than that the roll I would definitely get again. Also had an Alaskan roll & the salmon was tasty. The seaweed salad comes with a bit of squid salad on the side which had great flavor and tastes great alongside the seaweed salad. The staff was very attentive, friendly and overall awesome. This is a great spot for Sushi in Williamsburg and I will definintely be back soon!

We called and asked if we could push our reservation back 30 minutes. They told us no problem. We got to the restaurant and no one had apparently communicated anything to each other. They acted like they weren’t going to seat us because we were«late» and there was another reservation in 15 minutes. No one at the host station had any record of the change so they went around the restaurant and asked all the workers if they had spoken to us. Once they found the person that did, they decided to seat us. The ironic thing is the other reservation came in and got seated, and even with both of us being seated there was another hibachi station open the entire night. So I’m not sure what the problem was. The food is actually very good. Of all the hibachi places that I’ve been to, this was my favorite in terms of flavor. Our hibachi chef was friendly and put on a very entertaining show as well. My kids loved the show and they ate all of their food pretty quickly. However once we were seated, we didn’t get offered refills the entire night until our check was brought. Also, it’s not particularly clean. My son dropped his chopstick on the floor. I left it there at first and had him eat with his fork. When I went to pick it up there was a large black bug(beetle, not a roach) crawling on the chopstick. It scampered away and crawled under the wall behind the hibachi station. So, overall, the food is great but everything else leaves a bit to be desired. Not sure if I’ll be back, which is a shame because the food was actually quite good.

This place is legit!!! I popped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the prices and quality of my rolls. I had a spicy tuna and shrimp tempura and both were delicious! AND, this is coming from someone who just moved to the Burg from Hawaii. The fish was fresh … and my lunch was made with love. Friendly vibe … clean restaurant … I will for sure be back!!! STOKED to know I have a place to satisfy my sushi fix in a pinch. Arigato!

Poor service today. We had the shrimp&scallops on the hibachi. The chef had no personality though the food was ok. We never had the opportunity to order a second beverage and I had to get up and find a waiter to desperately ask for a glass of water!

Third time here, while the food is pretty good for this part of the state the service SUCKS! Sat at the table for 10 minutes before someone would acknowledge us. Couldn’t even get a glass of water. Food finally came and as I said before, it’s good for the area. We have had much better. The food is not reflected in the cost. This place is is way too expensive for the quality of food and service provided. I think this place has run its course with us and we are going to try other places in the area. Overall…meh

Good food and good service. We were promptly seated and the waiter came and took our order pretty quickly. I had questions about the sushi and the waiter answered my questions very easily. I was impressed. Our order came pretty quickly, it was nice and hot, and the sushi I ordered was really good. I will be returning here again.

My gf and I spent much time deciding what to have for dinner and came across Sushiya on Unilocal. It was 9:15 at the time and they were closing at 10. I called to make sure their kitchen wasn’t closed and went over there. By the time we got there, there was only 1 table of customers left. Unlike most places that frown upon late comers, we were greeted nicely. The food was fantastic. I had the large sashimi and my gf had the chicken and NY Strip teriyaki combo. Definetly worth checking out. P.s I think the place is Korean owned for those who care about it. I overheard them speaking in Korean.
