coffee is great, vibe is great, and the design work is top notch! Luke and Ryan are the best!

I am in love Australian food now. Location: bear with me, I am here to express how much I love and am thrilled to finally be in Williamsburg! This place is hipster and artistic. On my way to pick up Manila Social Club’s ube donut, I decided to clean up my stomach by drinking some coffee. By bookmarking this place for a while, I took a walk and got there on a friday morning. Not a lot of people there, Sweatshop was not that impressive looking from the outside. It is just like a combo street fashion store with some food, some coffee, some bakeries and some vibes. Well, I was right but after the visit, I will just change«some» to «a lot of». They have tons of coffee/espresso choices. And the bakeries contain one of my fav donut store — Moe’s doughnut. Food: I had flat white. Four dollars. And this is far better than average flat white among all those coffee shop in Manhattan bound. Very denied coffee with moistured milk = the bomb signature of flat white. I finished it quickly and went back for another one. One thing worth mentioned is their coffee cup. They design the signature of their cup by doing some stamps. I peeked at their small room inside which looks like pretty designatory. Service: nice cute guy with the unforgettable accent. Was that austrilian? Not sure, but it was sexy. Overall: i think Wiiliamsbury gonna be my new biatch! 5 stars!

Yes, the name of place sounds like a joke from 30 Rock, but I swear it’s legit and not some hipster hoax. I had a few minutes for breakfast one day, so I stopped in to grab a flat white and egg sandwich. Both were truly fantastic, even if it did take a little longer than I would have liked. No big deal, I had time. The coffee was especially great, you can tell they’re really into the beans and high-quality milk. But I’ve gotta say… the breakfast sandwich was out of this world(photo added). It’s like $ 7, but hey, treat yo self. There are a few places to sit, so I’d suggest just taking it easy and having a few bites here before schlepping over to the L train.

So happy I found this little gem while exploring Brooklyn. Had a nice, quick brunch and an a beautiful latte(as well as a delicious donut to go!) before leaving town. Really, really, really good coffee. Environment was very small and a bit cramped, but certainly worth visiting. Can’t wait to visit this place again and try the avocado toast!

I only had coffee here — cappuccino It was too weak for my taste and too much milk added(incorrect proportions of milk to foam to espresso).

I’ve been eyeing this place ever since I walked past it whenever I’m in Williamsburg. Finally got a chance to venture in and have their drinks. First off, the space is exactly what you get when you look at it from the outside. Small as it is, it didn’t seem to be a cube like most small coffeeshops. The large window pane somehow makes the room look bigger and more spacious. Not to mention, there’s always seats, so that’s a plus. Both me and my friend ordered an Esky(espresso, ice cream, milk) and loved it. Despite our original intention of not getting it, I’m glad we wounded up ordering it anyway.(Screw the cold weather, have some cold drinks!) The ice cream perfectly balances the espresso and I didn’t have to add in any sugar or sweeteners. Always a major plus. Also, ice cream and coffee?! What could possibly top that?! All in all, best place to come by for some coffee from down under, artsy and cool vibes, bright space, nice people, I could go on. The neon lights indoor that spells out their name is pretty dope too.

I made a short visit to Sweatshop during my coffee shop excursion in WIlliamsburg. Its a small creative place, with limited seating. The guy behind the counter was cool and inviting. I ended up ordering the affogato, and no eats. It was enjoyable, but not memorable. The espresso had a nice strength to it, with a bit of sweet. The vibe in Sweatshop is a bit stiff for my liking. I physically feel everyone trying to be too cool to fit the vibe. Not a place I would stay and chill to enjoy coffee, but glad I got a chance to try it.

This is one of my favorite breakfast joints in Williamsburg. They pride themselves in their Australian coffee — and rightfully so! I’ve fallen in love with their toasted loaf, which is made of banana bread, mascarpone cheese, nuts, and berries. I also always get the flat white. The space is pretty small but I’ve always managed to find a seat earlier during the day on a weekday. It makes for a good to-go joint on the weekends, too.

Proper Aussie quality coffee Really liked the flat white that I’ve got here. I have to admit I never ordered flat whites while I lived in Sydney. But this was definitely the best flat white I’ve had in N America. Takes credit card There is some seating but it was pretty full when I visited on a weekday morning

This is a super popular coffee spot in Wiliamsburg that just didn’t do it for us. On a sunny Saturday morning, this place was packed with so many people you could barely get passed the steps to get inside and order. Once inside, the staff didn’t seem very friendly but the décor is very nice and relaxing. Well, it would’ve been relaxing if there wasn’t already 200 people in a 100 sqft room. We had the chai latte, cold brew, and a breakfast sandwich. Though the drinks were good and the breakfast hit the spot, the crowds just killed it for us. Good luck having a relaxing morning here, maybe it’s better to order and take it to go…

Sweatshop is just oozin with some serious NYC cool. As a coffee lover coming from the golden state of California, Sweatshop has easily skyrocketed to the top of my list for favorite cafes ever. And of course, it’s tucked away in the hipster capital of the world: Williamsburg. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the friendly baristas who helped me feel right at home. The owners of the shop designed the apparel and interior décor. It’s a great place to be cozy with a cup of coffee, or do some work. I ordered a long mac(cortado) which came with deliciously in a really cute shot glass. I also tried a co-yo bowl which tasted like a healthier and slightly beefed up acai bowl. It was filling and delicious. Of course after this happy high of caffeine and food, I had to order a second round of coffee. This time I got a sparky(espresso, tonic-water, ice, lime). Think a delicious espresso mojito, sans the rum. It gave me a good spark of energy and was very refreshing. Needless to say, I fell in love with Sweatshop and can’t wait to come back: D

Sweatshop is a little coffee dream come true. In typical college-girl-who-studied-abroad fashion, I miss the coffee more than almost anything else down under. Australians definitely know how to make a good espresso drink, and this place made my heart swell. The shop is small and well-decorated with good lighting and«death before decaf» written on small D.I.Y. milk crate tables. I got a flat white(heart flutter) and split the brekkie biscuit and avo smash toast with my friend. Everything was perfect, from the accent of the man who took our order, to the last crumb on the plate. The staff was very cognizant and offered to close the door when my friend was shivering, and delivered a coffee outside to a patron with a dog in tow. It seems that they are open to people camping out on laptops, but I could see that getting crowded as well. It’s safe to say that if I lived close, I would probably come here entirely too often.

This is like no other coffee shop I have been to before-very unique! I love how the staff members are all Australian, it makes you feel like you’re really there! The store itself is «shabby chic,» with crates as chairs and tables. Very small space in a basement in a quiet street. Kind of a random find I guess, but a pleasant one nonetheless. The cold brew here was awesome! Have to go back to try other drinks as well. According to Unilocal it is the only well reviewed place for coffee in the area so I recommend everyone give this place a go.

Very hipster Australian café in Williamsburg. Cute décor, friendly workers, good magazine reads, and most importantly, good coffee! I tried the Aussie ice coffee, which comes with a scoop of ice cream and it was just alright. I would say I liked their hot drinks better(flat white or cortado).

Very cute and hipster Aussie café. I have been told that Australians are such snobs about coffee that even Starbucks didn’t survive in Australia. That being said I had high hopes for this place. Glad to say they were met. It’s a small café that’s hidden underneath across the street from Foodtown of Williamsburg. You will probably miss it unless you look in at all the cute Aussie hipsters tapping away on their lappies. MacBook is mandatory dress code here. I ordered the flat white & the Kensington which was a grilled cheese sandwich. Both very delicious. The sandwich was cut into triangles which I very much appreciated. Heavily buttered. Just how I love my food. Next time I come here I am definitely trying the cheese sandwich with vegemite! Definitely come here if you have work to do or just want to lounge around at a café. 100000x better than a Starbucks.

Sweatshop is a hole in the wall(or ground, as it’s located at basement level) that has beautiful personality and great coffee. There are individual tables with limited seating each donned with different art/patterns and potted plants. By no means am I a coffee snob, but what I can say about the cappuccino and cortado that we had is that the milk was velvety smooth and frothy. There were no bubbles or air present in the drink at all, so that when you drink your coffee, the art stays in shape. The cappuccino was not bitter at all and did not need any other flavors because the espresso itself was almost sweet. PROS: + Mostly male customer demographic + Well dressed Brooklyn crowd + Great patterns/décor for your perfect coffee picture + Dog-friendly if you choose to sit on the outside benches + Australian accents! We ordered a red velvet donut and muesli. The red velvet donut wasn’t too sweet or overglazed, which complemented the coffee perfectly. The to-go version of the muesli is significantly smaller than when you dine-in for the same price because it is given in a plastic 16 oz cup and not filled all the way. When you dine in, the muesli comes in a large bowl. Otherwise, I loved the consistency of the yogurt(not thick) with the granola, raisins, honey, and fruit.

Flat whites and avocado toast are a match made in heaven. And even though I’ve tried each at various Aussie cafes in NYC, no combination of the two has stood out as the very best — until I came to Sweatshop today. The avocado toast wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill mashed avocado with red pepper flakes and some lemon juice. It was fabulously accented with fresh lime juice, generous hunks of feta and mint leaves. And the fried egg on top was fantastic. The flat white was amazing as well — I ordered the almond milk variety, which can be an even bigger challenge for baristas. However, the barista at Sweatshop excelled — the flat white came with those classic large bubbles and thick, decadent mouthfeel that only perfectly steamed milk can produce. And it didn’t hurt that Sweatshop’s vibe was perfect for customers of all types, from those hunkering down over their laptops(me) to those looking to chat with a friend. Only a couple of things could have made the Sweatshop experience better than it already is: 1. Some method of keeping the café smelling nice and devoid of the various smells of NYC. Another customer and I were sitting at an indoor table by the open window, and the scent of dog poop kept wafting in. Not an appetizing aroma when you’re trying to focus on your work/food/coffee. 2. Outlet cord extender! For once in my life I arrived with a fully charged laptop and thus didn’t need an outlet, but I noticed that others were not so fortunate. Plentiful electrical outlets would be fantastic for us worker bees. :) Thanks for a great afternoon, Sweatshop. Looking forward to stopping by again!

Can’t believe I haven’t written a review for sweatshop yet! Been coming here since its opening and I love how they have been consistently adding more items to their menu. The staff here is always friendly and answers any questions we have about the menu. The drinks and food are both awesome. First time I came here I had the Aussie iced coffee, so creamy and such a delicious treat. I’ve also had their latte and flat white, and have yet to try other options. Props to all the beautiful latte art as well. Every drink I order is always nicely prepared, thank you sweatshop baristas! Sweatshop accepts the CUPS app. Get a $ 10 discount using the code: 18RS4 when you sign up :) Oh and they have jaffles!

This is one of the few Williamsburg coffee shops that actually earns its status as a go-to place for ridic strong cold brew, solid eats, and a generally chill atmosphere. Hitting coffee shop after coffee shop in BK you get a bit jaded, as a lot of the places just don’t have the best espresso or do and are not places you would really want to hang out inside. Sweatshop somehow manages to have cold brew so strong I felt like I was high along with a pretty amazing space to chill and, on top of all that, really good donuts and savory fare. Honestly, the cold brew here is some of the more caffeinated I have had in all of NYC and I can’t even express how happy that made me. The location of this joint is also pretty great since it is in a less touristy corner of Williamsburg. Just a really great coffee shop I would to tip my hat to, if I ever wore hats.
