I am absolutely in love with this restaurant!!! I love that I can bring my kids here and along with a great meal they get a chance to see airplanes up close, weather is in the museum or them landing close to the restaurant! Believe me we will be back, its so worth the 25 min drive.

Made our first visit to Barnstormer’s Grill last week and it won’t be the last! As everyone has stated in their review the food is great, the staff friendly and the service prompt and professional. The atmosphere doesn’t get any better if you like airplanes and history. We commented to our server how much we enjoyed the coconut cream pie we had for desert and half jokingly asked if they’d share the recipe. Know what? She went back to the kitchen and returned with a hand written copy from the«desert lady». She said if we had any questions about the instructions she’d come out and talk to us! Talk about over and above! The bill was a pleasant surprise too! Can’t wait to try the Sunday buffet!

Absolutely love this restaurant. Service is always friendly, quick and efficient. We try to come every Sunday that we can for their brunch. Always a flavorful and eclectic southern cuisine buffet. Food is cooked and brought out fresh and piping hot. They have the most amazing vegetable soup. Every Sunday is a different collection of perfectly cooked and seasoned meats, veggies, potatoes and especially delicious desserts. They have a banana praline caramel cake that is to die for! We love coming here not only for the great food but for a welcoming staff and awesome ambience.

***updated review*** I received a call from Kimberley at Barnstormers in regards to our issues. The manager in question is no longer with the restaurant. Kimberley went above and beyond. She was very apologetic about our experiences. Bc of her professionalism we will def give Barnstormers another try. This review and one star is based solely on the manager at this restaurant. I have never met someone so rude. We use to go every Sunday and he has never spoke once to us. To the point he’s talked to the table on either side of us. On one occasion they had chicken on the buffet and the piece I grabbed was undercooked. The waitress apologized and went and told him. Do you think he came over? Nope. Today was my last straw. We went in and had lunch he spoke to one table and then went back into the kitchen. When we were leaving the table he spoke to were also leaving. He asked how they liked every thing and wished them a nice day. They walked out. I was behind with my children and my daughter said thank you. He didn’t say anything he just stared at me. So I said have a nice day. He just turned his back on us and started talking to the sweetest hostess Ms. Lou. I went back in to make sure who this guy was since in all the times we’ve been he’s never introduced himself. When I said I was unhappy another frequent patron said she felt the same way. It’s unacceptable. This man has no business being front of house manager. Now the food is good and the wait staff is great. If they could fix this major issue this would be a great place to go for a nice meal.

My favorite restaurant, the service is friendly and fast, food is good, place is pretty, nice décor, nice people, dependable good food. Prices are reasonable. Sweet potato fries and onion rings are awesome but so is everything i have ever had. Sorry, Just Love’em, the museum is a hit and miss depending on what plane has flown in or out, but I can’t help myself, I always go in to check them out. Oh, they also have a separate room you can reserve for special events and their prices beat anyone hands down on appetizer type items for receptions of any sort. OH, the desserts, sorry I forgot to mention them, whoa, they are beautiful southern comfort pies. Oh honey, you gotta try a slice

Situated in the Candler Field Museum on a small turf airstrip in Pike County, Georgia, The Barnstormer’s Grill is a very good basic food restaurant, offering everything from steaks and seafood, to hamburgers and sandwiches. Prices are reasonable and most every dish is well prepared. Pike County is rather rural, with 13 airstrips and 2 traffic lights. Just the way we like it! I am a regular patron of this establishment and recommend it highly. As for the food, I especially like the grilled salmon. The kitchen staff will prepare the fish to order, which is unusual for most restaurants that don’t specialize. Salmon is best when it is not over-cooked, and they do a fine job with this one. The waitstaff is very friendly and helpful with a down-home atmosphere that most people find charming and relaxing. Pilots love to fly in for a meal, and the non-flying public seems to enjoy this unusual venue. You can see everything from modern aircraft to antique biplanes. The theme of the museum is to re-create the Atlanta Airport of the 1920s and 30s when it was just an open field called«Candler Field» after Asa Candler(founder of Coca Cola) who had built an unsuccessful racetrack in the small town of Hapeville, Georgia. Local«Barnstormers» Doug Davis and Beeler Blevins had nowhere to operate and got permission from Candler to use the infield of the racetrack. From this humble beginning grew the busiest airport in the world. I highly recommend this restaurant to pilots or anyone who enjoys good food at reasonable prices in a very interesting setting. By the way, there is a patio available for dining that affords a wonderful view of the airstrip. Local«Airport Bums» love to sit out here and critique landings, so if your flying in, do your best!

Came for lunch with my sister while visiting from California. Love the historic ambiance, and the rustic décor was fun to look at while we waited for our food. My Sis and I each ordered the Angus Steakburger with Sweet Potato fries. The meal was delicious, and I especially liked the fries. They were fresh and hot, but still firm. The burger was pretty great too. Generously portioned, cooked exactly as we asked, with lots of fresh veggies on top. We shared a dessert of chocolate meringue pie and lemon meringue pie. I thought the slices were a great value for $ 3. I will definitely try to visit again on my next trip!

Just the most fun… you can actually watch the small planes taxi in… all the food is good… the smothered chicken, the petite filet but most notable is the Sunday buffet… all you can eat home cooked food with drink and homemade dessert[to die for] included… they have several meats and vegetables in addition to homemade soup and salad bar… reasonable prices too… we went on a weekday night with kids and grands ages 2 and 4… they accommodated our big group[ but I do recommend getting a reservation — you never know who is going to fly in]…they also had vintage music playing and we topped off the evening with a visit to the free museum to view vintage carriage, cars and aircraft… on Veteran’s Day they have a special event with things for the kids, airplane rides and a special veteran speaker… just a great way to spend your money on a great meal and experience with family… Also there is a separate room for events and they have weddings and receptions on site in the museum and I am sure out doors if you want… you drive through the country and suddenly you are there — a really pleasant surprise!

This place is off the beaten path but worth the trip out. It’s not far from Griffin or Zebulon and is a pleasant drive through a pretty part of Pike County. The restaurant itself is located in combination with a small airport(Peach State Aerodrome) that specializes in old timey planes being flown(so yes, you can fly in for a bite to eat, as well). They have a small museum, the Candler Field Historic Museum, that you can walk through for a quick step back in history. The restaurant itself is attractive and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. I always order off the menu. They have a nice selection of hot sandwiches, with delicious french fries, sweet potato fries or vegetables for side items. Their house broccoli with red onions and feta is delicious! They also have prime rib and seafood if you want a heartier entrée. They now have healthy selections as a special portion of the menu, as well! I have enjoyed everything I have eaten there.

If you’re in the area, this is a great place to stop and watch the airplanes while getting a delicious meal. The basic grill menu is supplemented by monthly specials. They hand cut their steaks and chicken fingers. The in house made pies and cakes are delicious. The salad bar contains all your trusty favorites and there are always a couple of soups to round out your meal. Make sure you make time in your schedule to visit the Candler Field Museum in the same building where you can view biplanes and old Ford cars. The owners sponsor a Veteran’s Day ceremony and flyover with dozen of historical planes to look at. Good place, good people, good food-the trifecta of dining pleasure.
