What a cool place to eat downtown Williamston. Usually if we go there it is for lunch and all is good. The couple that own the place are very nice and the food is always good. On weekend nights they will have entertainment. The one Friday night we went the music was old school and people were dancing. All was good. This is not what you would expect in Williamston NC. It is a pleasant experience.

I had the mango jerk chicken breast. It came with one side and a salad for a great price! They had a great selection of wine and alcohol and a superb atmosphere. Save room for dessert! The key lime pie is best Ive had in a while.

This is an absolutely great little restaurant! The food is fresh and hot. The staff is very helpful and the owners are two of the nicest people you’ll meet. It’s not too far off 64 and definitely worth a visit!

We stopped at the Red Heron Café based on Unilocal review. We were not disappointed!
At 2pm was a great time to stop for lunch. My choice of a BLT and steak fries. Most BLTs have over toasted bread but not here. The bread was lightly toasted but soft on the mouth. Very tasty. Hubby had the brisket sandwich and onion rings. Plenty to eat and piping hot. Fall-​over friendly owners.
Nice place to sit at the counter to use the free wifi to log on and book business travel to Budapest!
They advertise for game and music nights.
Next trip thru we will be sure to stop by.

Deliciousness! Driving through this little podunk town, we found this place based on other Unilocal reviews and I was certainly not disappointed. I had he shrimp and grits, my coworkers had a brisket sandwich and the other salmon and grits. Everything about our food was perfect. I wanted my shrimp and grits spicy and the owner/​chef came out to make sure he made it like I wanted and we chatted for a while. Great service and great food! Will stop again if/​when in area.

After discovering this delightful restaurant on Unilocal,we were excited to try it out on our way home from the beach. We were not disappointed. Breakfast was available mid afternoon. We had hearty meals served by a pleasant, attentive waitress. The grits were especially good. We were also greeted by the owners who were very welcoming. We’ll be back!

This is the cleanest restaurant I have seen. The staff and owners are great and really care about their customers. The grilled buffalo sandwich was really good as was the house salad with grilled chicken. Would definitely go back when in town again. Food is really fresh and well prepared. Wishing The Red Heron great success!

We were traveling to the Outer Banks and looking for a vegetarian friendly restaurant. This was the only place that was easily accessible on the highway before getting too far away from everything.
It turned out to be a quiet, quaint spot off the beaten path with really friendly service. Food was very simple but so fresh and tasty! We had the veggie burger and shrimp tacos– definitely recommend the burger. Great place to stop on a road trip with cute outdoor seating and a filling meal!

I’ve been in town for less than two weeks, and been here several times. The Chili Garlic wings are amazing. So crispy and full of flavor.
I have also ordered several shrimp dishes also, and they were fantastic. Ribeye with Jerk seasoning, it is all good.
Staff and owner are very friendly and have welcomed me to Williamston. Great!!!

Great surprise on the way back from the OBX! There are a lot of great choices to choose from on the menu. We decided to have the cheese burger and onion rings and I’m glad we did. It has to be the best burger in the state. Well made and fresh toppings. The onion rings are awesome, as well as the steak fries. Great cole slaw too.
Don’t think this is just a burger joint, it’s a great place for brunch, or for one of their evening events. Nice atmosphere and friendly service… don’t forget to sign the guestbook!

We stopped for lunch on our way back to San Diego. The food was outstanding and restaurant was very clean. Wine tasting Thursday evening. We were sad to have missed it. Thanks for the good food!

Great fresh food and it was quick. Nice place with a good amount of choices.
I had the chef salad with grilled chicken and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Everything was fresh and had nice flavor. The salad was not huge but was a good lunch portion.
The staff was super friendly and attentive. I will be back.

Came here for a quick bite today. The couple that runs the place is very friendly and sweet. The food was great especially the jalapeño shrimp!!! My husband loved the shrimp and grits!!! Overall a great experience!!! Worth the detour ;-)

These guys are awesome. Extremely hospitable to me. I stopped in to warm up and get some coffee. Although I didn’t eat, everything that passed my nose smelled amazing. The wings must be the most popular item because many people were ordering them. Very cool place with extremely awesome people. @pedalpirate

Nice little spot in downtown Williamston. Hours are good and it’s open 7 days a week. I had the ribeye for dinner. One side is included and it also comes with a house salad. The rub on the ribeye was heavy on the peppercorn but tender. It has a simple dinner menu. Salads, wings, and either ribeye, grilled chicken, shrimp or pork chops. No entrée was priced over 16.99. It serves wine and has almost a dozen different beers in bottles. Hopefully this place will hang around because Williamston needs more places to eat.
