When you walk into Dutch Pantry, there’s a sign on the front that says«Microwave in use,» so that should give you an idea of the standards of this restaurant. I was curious if I’d find anything vaguely Dutch on the menu, and there was a small section which had«PA Dutch Specialties,» so I ordered the cabbage rolls(which were pretty much like grape leaves in cabbage). It’s the kind of food that comes with a ice-cream-scooped side of mashed potatoes and a cup of freshly microwaved ham-and-bean soup. Decent enough non-chain with friendly service.

This place gets it’s two stars for the service and the organization(charts for waitresses to mark off tasks hanging above the food window). The food and atmosphere on the other hand are not good. Someone said it has a Cracker Barrel feel to it, I’d say more like a gas station. I don’t remember being able to get shot glasses, key chains, and sports memorabilia inside Cracker Barrel. The cheeseburger I ordered was over cooked and had deep fried pickle spears on it. Why? Deep frying the pickle took away the crispness, the coolness, and any dill tang it had turning it into green mush which I took one bite of and removed. The fries are frozen/deep fried and the entire menu has a bowling alley, short order, we don’t trust our cooks feel to it. I cannot say what the breakfast has, but I’m not coming back to tell you.

Good home cooking. Fast service. Has a store somewhat like a Cracker Barrel set up.
