K & J Fencing

K & J has totally mixed reviews wherever you look. But a I figured a free estimate couldn’t hurt, and they actually ended up being the most reasonably priced company. They also were able to provide a start date sooner then any of the other companies I talked to.
Before signing the contract I discussed the bad reviews with the owner and after our discussions I felt confident enough to hire them.
During the two weeks between the estimate and the instillation K&J was always available to answer any questions and work with my scheduling needs. A $ 100 deposit was required, and the materials were dropped off in my drive way the week of instillation.
The day of the instillation two men arrived around 9:30 AM, worked tirelessly and finished the job by 2:00 PM. Before touching my yard, they walked me through the process, went over the exact plans and placement of the fence, and asked for my decisions on a variety of small things.
It was very clear that the installers cared about my satisfaction which I really appreciated.

I usually read reviews before hiring anyone, but my husband felt comfortable with this company and there were positive reviews on another site so I left it at that. What a mistake! They measured wrong by 24 feet then told us we are financially responsible for the difference while telling us what a «deal» we were getting on the «extra» length. No, it is not extra– it SHOULD be included in the quote you gave us. Take responsibility for your own mistake. To make matters worse, the fence is downright dirty (mud streaks) and the rocks and debris that were dug up are all strewn in the lawn. What they did clean up they put in our brand new trash cans until my husband made them remove it since our township will not haul that-​and obviously we are not going to pay someone else to clean up after them. They obviously take zero pride in their workmanship. I am appalled at the condition they left our yard in. If you don’t care about that, don’t choose them based on price either because that just may change…

I’m a little taken aback by the reviews for this company and to be honest, if I read them pior to signing the contract, there’s no way I’d hire them– the feedback, in my opinion is damaging! I hired K and J to install a white picket vinyl fence surrounding the property line of my Cherry Hill home. The entire process from start to finish was a smooth transaction. However, I did have to contact Kevin in regards to a few posts that became crooked as they settled into the ground. The maintainace crew came out in THREE days to fix it! There wasn’t any of this craziness that people wrote about, Kevin and his team were professional and helpful, exactly what I’d expect from a small business.

My and wife and I purchased a newly constructed home and have used many contractors since moving in. We were happy with everyone we used but this one. In fact, they are the only contractor that we would never use again. I am writing this review hoping to spare someone the time and money that we had to pay to fix K & J’s poor workmanship and total lack of accountability.
My wife and I purchased a vinyl fence that was simply supposed to outline the property line of our backyard. The crew came out and finished the job within a day. However, the part of the fence that ran along the adjacent lot appeared to curved. In other words, the fence did not run straight to the back property line. I checked with the project manager that the fence was on our property and he assured me that it was. I didn’t want to make a big deal about the slightly curved side so I let it go so long as the fence was on our property.
A few months later, my neighbor bought the lot next to us. He had his property surveyed by a fence company and they advised him that my fence was on his property by five feet! I immediately alerted K & J Fencing and reminded them of how their project manager assured me that the fence was on my property despite its curved appearance. I spoke the owner Kevin who said he knew who my neighbors fence company was and that he would «punch that guy in the face the next time he saw him.» I said your big words sound great but who’s going to fix my fence? He told me just leave it the way it was and that if I were fined by my homeowners association, that he would pay the fines. I gave him a week to fix the fence and he refused to do so. I have since filed a complaint against him in the superior court of Atlantic County. He never answered the Complaint so I will move for a default judgment against him in the near future. I am fortunate that I am an attorney and have the skills to institute legal action against them on my own. However, there are many people out there who do not have my skills and would just have to take their experience up as a loss. Please do yourself a favor and use anyone else other than this company for your fence. If you don’t believe me, please search the web for them and take note of all the lousy reviews. FYI — I only gave them one star only bc this site won’t allow you to post a review without a rating. Otherwise I wouldn’t have given them any stars.

We found them at the Philadelphia Home Show and thought that gave them credibility. Wrong! The sales person was professional and polite. That’s where it ended. The installers wanted to put the posts in an easement to avoid cutting through the concrete. They also wanted to leave the wooden posts. They put the gate on backwards from what we discussed with the salesman. It took over 9 months before we could get anyone to come out to look at it and when they switched the gate they couldn’t get out the steel support rod that is suppose to take the weight of the gate. So, it’s still on the wrong side. They told us that they would be back and that was the last that we heard from them. Good riddance. Don’t use them!

I’d give them no stars if I could. The absolute worst company we have ever dealt with. The work is sub par to say the least. The installers were unprofessional, using foul language and leaving a huge mess. The fence they installed for me is crooked and out of alignment. They actually installed a gate off center from an existing walkway and chiseled out my concrete to sink a post even though we discussed the gate placement with the salesman and stated it was to stay where the old gate was. They dug up wires and buried sprinkler heads under mounds of dirt. The fence was installed so high off of the ground that a small dog could just walk right out of yard. When my husband tried to call to discuss the problems the owner, Kevin yelled at him and in the background and over-​talked my husband to the point that he could not explain the problems. K&J ran the balance due for the job on our AMEX without our permission because they knew we were unhappy with the job from the message my husband on the office answering machine while the installers were still at our house. We never signed off on the job and the crew knew we were unhappy. We never even said how we wanted to pay they just took it upon themselves to charge my account since they had the number from the deposit. Kevin called my husband several hours after the first very rude call and told my husband to send photos to him and he will decide IF anything needs to be done. My husband asked the owner, Kevin to come out and look at the job but he refused. There is a reason their estimates are cheaper, you get what you pay for. Don’t make the same mistake we did, go with a reputable company and steer clear of K&J. I will now have to dispute the charges with AMEX and get prices to see how to fix the concrete walkway, the exposed wire, and the gravel pouring out of my back yard onto my front yard through the gap at the bottom of the fence not to mention the clean up of all of the piles of dirt covering what used to be my lawn. I have many many pictures that I will be sending the AMEX, the BBB and use in small claims court if it comes to that.
