This place looks like a total dump from the outside, but to be fair, pretty much all of the Georgetown Square shopping center looks like a rundown mess. I’d just finished my shopping at Wegmans and realized I needed a red wine for cooking. This place is located nearby, so I stopped and went in. Inside, it’s a lot nicer. Racks and rows of excellent wine and liquors. The staff was really helpful, not openly laughing when I asked if they had half bottle sizes of wine. It is a distinctly surreal experience to buy wine in a package that I normally buy coconut water in. So, don’t always judge a book, or uh, liquor store, by its cover!

Came here because I was in the area and had been asked to pick up something specific. Saw this liquor store as I was pulling out from the Key Bank across the way and in I came. Once inside I realized I had been here in the past, Christmas 2012 I think, to pick up a Holiday party bottle. So this review is based on two visits. The first time I had to pick up a red and the place was busy. Holidays and all that. I was guided to a good red actually, so good I purchased a case soon after, but not here, I found it way cheaper by looking on line at other local options. So props for finding me the right bottle, dings for being on the pricier side. But it is the suburbs and all that. This time I was there for a bottle of gin. Even though the summer has not been scorching yet, there have been requests for a G&T, and for that I needed both the G and T. Still need the T. But they took care of the G. Its a surprisingly small gin section, next to an equally small tequila section. The rum section was marginally larger. The vodka section had two aisles. So clearly the clientele here are vodka drinkers. So many vodka choices and flavors. But back to the gin. I ended up with a bottle of New Amsterdam gin, largely because we have not had it before and I thought worth a try, being Dutch and all that. Also because I don’t know the price, and I found the Gordons a little pricier than I was expecting. But I’m no gin expert and the prices I think I know may not be correct. But then I went to the vodka section. First of all they have most any flavor you could want. And they carry most brands, although I did not see Pearl(one of my go-tos). Wow. What a selection. I picked up a bottle from a brand I have not seen before. Cant wait to try it. Always like to try the new options out there. Prices here were hit or miss, some very competitive with others in the Buffalo region, others on the higher side, and surprisingly one or two lower than I expected. So all over the place. If you know your prices you will do just fine here. And they make trying easy here. They have a ton of wine and spirit tasting options. Check out the website for upcoming events, which are varied and if I lived closer I would be a regular I’m sure. Always looking for a new red or white. This is a local store, although surprisingly large for that category, prices can be good if you know what they should be, and parking is easy. I did find the service, while polite, to be somewhat uninterested, but ok. I know my way around.

My go-to store for any alcohol needs. They usually have what I’m looking for. Wicked helpful staff. Parking is easy, and they have pretty good hours. Also, sign up for their e-mail list as they have a lot of events and tastings. This is a comfy old-school non-cramped liquor store with a large selection, but isn’t the size of a Home Depot so you can find what you are looking for. Prices are fine, too. Hiccup.

Every time I review a Liquor store, I cringe, because I think only alcoholics review liquor stores, but I am reviewing this on the wine selection. It’s fab, it’s as extensive as any of the Global’s or Première’s out there. Plus they laugh every time my daughter calls it the mommy juice store.(maybe I am there too often.) But the best part is that the prices are really reasonable. I was surprised thinking I was walking into a little corner liquor store, to see the size, but also that they hands down beat the bigger stores on price every time(unless they are having a penny sale.) Totally my go to place, plus it’s on the way home!

Very cool that they hold tastings weekly. Especially cool that they have specials ongoing, pretty much all the time. But this why I really dig this place — The service. You know how it is in most liquor stores. You wander in, the clerk gives you the stink eye, you grab your party-in-a-bottle(oh, sorry, I mean, ahem, apertif) you pay, you leave. Most times that I’ve come in looking for a particular bottle of wine, someone has asked me if I could be helped. Each time I’ve specified what I needed, the staff has been super quick in selecting the proper bottle. Just the fact that they’ve checked to see if I was ok is worth five stars alone. Are they the friendliest when it comes to checkout? Nah, but they’re polite, anyway. I do wish that they’d acknowledge me as a repeat customer, but maybe that’s just a trade off for the rest of the awesomeness. I’m ok with that. I’m happy to make myself a regular here.

A great place to get drunk-for free-on a Saturday afternoon. The wine tastings are terrific, as are the wine specials. People actually bring their own wine tasting glasses.
