Fav korean place in town! I had been waiting and waiting to bring the boy here. First cuz he’s never tried korean(**gasp the horror**) and second seeing as how he’d never tried it before i wanted to make sure his first taste was the yummiest one possible. Needless to say he has come aboard the korean wagon now ;) The only cons were the price, but i warned him this place is always slightly a bit more then i want to spend. And this time it really was because we sat at one of the grill tables and their policy is you have to get 2 of the meat orders. So thats a minimum of $ 50 right out of the gate. But I had to do it since it was his first time! Everything was as yummy as always. The kalbi was the stand out. Oh and i got him to not only try but like the fish cakes that come as one of the sides. While theres cheaper korean in town, I consistently come back here because it’s always good without fail. A plus!

My girlfriend had been dying to introduce me to Korean barbecue(note: she’s not Korean) and this was her favorite spot. It’s not much to look at from the outside, but the food is what’s important. We wanted to get one barbecue dish and one other entrée, but apparently if you want to sit at a table with a grill, you have to order two barbecue dishes. Luckily we were able to find a bit of a loophole and ordered one combo, which is great value compared to choosing two separate meats. The combo came with beef short rib, pork, chicken, and bulgogi. My favorite was the short rib, but the bulgogi and pork were also excellent. The chicken was a little blah, but really only by comparison to the others. It was a new experience for me to just be delivered a plate full of raw meats. My girlfiend, being the master chef that she is, womaned the grill and just kept piling cooked meat onto my plate. Come to think of it, I don’t know if she stopped to eat any herself. In any case, there were various and sundry ethnic sides for free which someone could probably fill up on. The only reason I’m not giving this place 5 stars is that it’s quite expensive. In order to sit at a grill table, you’ll have to spend around $ 50 minimum before any drinks or appetizers. As good as the food tasted, I’d be tempted to spend that money on steaks instead.

Great family owned Korean restaurant in my hometown that my parents will now enjoy. I live in NYC and often say I was Korean in my past life. I froth at the mouth thinking of BCD Tofu House in Flushing, Queens or Cho Dang Gol in the City. Korean spice is equivalent to desi(indo-pak) spice… My Korean friends introduced me to various dishes that I could eat(i.e. no pork, beef) like dduk boki, spicy seafood soon dooboo, etc… and I was hooked ever since. So, I took my parents and they REALLY enjoyed our meal. They tried to play it as if they had tried Korean food before(They had not)… and they assumed it would be like Chinese food(smh. face palm). I will say the Haemul Dol Sot was a bit too sweet for our taste. The Ojinguh Bokkeum(spicy squid) was definitely the winner of the night. My seafood soondooboo was ok(I prefer it when it’s piping hot, much spicier and with a raw egg that can be cracked on top and mixed around). However, considering that this family-owned Korean restaurant is tucked into a strip-mall in *Williamsville*… I’m a fan! I will surely return when I head to Buffalo to visit my parents(I don’t remember Korean restaurants in the area from when I was growing up. But I left in 1998.).

This place must have new owners, because many years ago this place really sucked. But these days, the dishes are prepared differently and are much better.

Food is very good. I have been coming for years. If you like spicy try the kimchi pork stir fry. Excellent. My only complaint is the dinner service. They need more help. People waiting to be seated and pay their bill. Otherwise a great place.

My order: Sausage hot pot(mediocre at best) PROS + SERVICE: quick and friendly. All I could ask for. When asking for recommendations, I found our server to be honest(rare feat). + SIDEDISHES: Love, love, love them. Their mashed potatoes and fish cake remind me of home. Did you know they’re unlimited? ;) + KBBQ: I’m glad to ses buffalo has korean bbq too! I wonder if its AYCE… CONS — PRICE: they can afford to be a little more pricey, I feel like lunch might be more worthwhile(for your money) — NAME: I wonder where they got the name of the restaurant, it sounds very stereotypically«Asian» to me. Considering the lack of ethnically diverse cuisine in buffalo, I’d have to rate it a 3(but if it were in a major city, would probably give the restaurant a 2).

Wow. I picked up take out on a whim. All of my meanderings should be so fruitful! This place, the food is absolutely phenomenal! Galbi and Yachae Tuigim lunch boxes. The sweet, the sour, the cool stuff that came with the lunches are totally lacking in descriptive terms that will do this food justice! Again, WOW! Adorable little restaurant that had a few tables taken. Korean Barbecue grills in the center of each table. All of the patrons were speaking a language totally foreign to me. The chef met me to take my order. All great. Food came out in a timely fashion and I needed to contain myself since the aromas were absolutely heavenly! I’m at a loss for words. I taste all sorts of wonderful things in the lunches that I procured. I just need to say that this is by far the best Korean, and I am a novice, that I have ever had. Next time I will be living large and ordering WAYMORE. To last perhaps a day longer …

In the words of my wife, «this place is delightful!». We ordered the combo and it was enough for 6 people even though it was advertised for 2! Talking about getting your money’s worth. We had to actually cook our own meats which a surprise to me but it was fun. If we’re ever in the area again we’ll definitely stop by.

I am an avid lover and eater of Asian cuisine, and I gotta say out of all the places in Buffalo, this is my favorite. Trust me, I love sushi, and I love a good pad thai, but I always find myself craving some Korean food, it’s something about kimchi… I have only been to one other Korean place in WNY, and we only went because Woo Chon was closed. Pros: You know a place is good when Asian people are eating here, especially if they’re Korean. The wait staff are so friendly, the service is so incredibly fast, but not in the way where you feel rushed, which is very considerate. They’re always so nice about bringing extra side dishes as well! So the food! Korean food to me is a very homey cuisine, and comforting. So what they lack in looks they make up for in flavor, smells, and goodness. I have tried their Dumpling Soup and it is amazing. A bit subtle in flavor depending on your tastes, so doctoring it up is acceptable. Better than any wonton soup I have had at every Chinese restaurant I have ever been to in Buffalo,(I have roots in NYC so I know what real Chinese food is, Buffalo!). Chicken broth most likely, scallions, glass noodles, big pieces of pork, lots of egg, and a very generous amount of dumplings. It’s a large portion as well because it is considered an entrée and it’s around $ 10. I fell in love with F9 the Jaeyook Kimchi. It’s stir fried kimchi, with rice cakes, tofu, and pork. It’s spicy, and very flavorful, and not pickley flavored like regualr kimchi either, it’s seriously amazing. Get it. My fiancée ALWAYS gets the same dish. He gets this stone bowl dish, R8 Ojinguh Dolsot. Pan fried squid and veggies with rice. It’s spicy, but has a slight sweet flavor, I think it is the squid. It really is delicious. Coming in for lunch we usually get the Bulgogi Box, which is super affordable, plus it comes with 2 pieces of the korean sushi, Kimbap. I definitely want to try more! I also like how their side dishes change, I mean they have kimchi, and the fermented fish, and some veggies all the time but I have gotten a few different things here and there. Cons: Only con is the décor, it’s a bit outdated. But honestly who really cares, the food and service speaks volumes! –Melissa

Enjoyed the grilled meats lettuce wrap dining experience! One thing about eating like this; you CANNOT be on your cell or tablet because you’re cooking and eating. Despite the large amounts of meat there was also a lot of vegetables. Awesome meal! Thank you!

I came here for the Korean hotpot with one other person. As we are hungry, we opted for the Sausage Hotpot(Buddae Jiggae). It was nice, the sausages were plentiful, and there were generous servings of vegetable and ramen under the pot. The broth was flavorful, but a little salty to my taste. There are complimentary dishes that are given to you at the beginning of the meal as appetizers to make sure you don’t starve to death as the two waiters scramble frantically to serve 25 different tables and demonstrating how to flip korean bbq meats for helpless non-korean customers. the atmosphere was very festive, and reminds me of large asian family gatherings with lots of food and drink. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will return here again soon.

We love this place. We do tend to always get the same thing though and have yet to try the bbq — but this is only because the dishes we tried first were so damn amazing. I get the spicy pork with kimchee dish(JAEYOOKKIMCHI) and my beau gets the spicy squid(OJINGUHBOKKEUM). They both have amazing flavor; the squid is roasty and grilled tasting with a spicy but slightly sweet sauce, the pork is spicier with so much flavor from the pork and kimchee. Ban chan are always really good and they always offer you more if you finish them. The only other dish we’ve tried is the JAPCHAE and it’s very good as well and I highly recommend that to start if you’re new to Korean. The fried dumplings are also very tasty.

Come here with an appetite, a BIG appetite! I came here with a group of 10, and we ordered various appetizers and I believe 6 meat combo plates(~$ 40 each). Thanks to reading Unilocal beforehand, I ordered be seafood pancake for our table, and it was such a hit! We were able to sit at the grill, and I was placed right in front of it, so I was tasked with the grilling. I really enjoyed this interactive piece of my meal, and luckily, the waiter came over a few times to grill for us. The meat was delicious, and came with several traditional Korean side dishes, as compliments to the meat. Kimchi was by far my favorite, as it is featured in many fusion dishes that you will see in various restaurants. The cost was very reasonable for all of the food that we got. Plus, they gave us watermelon for dessert! I’m eager to go back & try new dishes!

Went the other day to try their BBQ it was good a bit pricey, being it’s mostly veggies. The service was a bit lacking considering it wasn’t a full restaurant. Would go again to try the other less pricey dishes.

Are you hungry? Come here and enjoy some delicious Korean food. I came to Buffalo to visit my family and my sister said this was her favorite restaurant to eat at. We came here on Tuesday for lunch with 9 people. Since I live in CA, and there are a ton of Korean restaurants, so I didn’t have much expectations. But damn, the food is good and lunch prices were ok. Since we had a party of 9, we couldn’t do the sit down and BBQ our own food. The BBQ tables only seated 6. So we opt to seat at the regular tables and have them cook for us. We started off with fried dumplings and scallion pancake. Then we decided to get their lunch specials and prices ranged from 8.99−10.99 I think. Most of the table got L-10 and L-11 from the lunch menu. One of them is the short ribs and the other is sliced rib eye. All lunch specials came with a salad, rice, a slice of watermelon, and two pieces of vegetable sushi. The short ribs were cooked perfectly and came with a lot of meat. I had the R-7 which was spicy pork with vegetables and rice in a hot stone pot. I like my rice crispy, so I allowed the rice to stay at the bottom of the pot longer before I stirred everything together. I would definitely get this again. FYI — they are closed on Mondays.

This is one of the few Korean restaurants in the Buffalo area that prepares traditional Korean dishes. I’ve been here 3 times in the last 2 months and every time I leave satisfied. Like all Korean restaurants, they bring out 5 or so small sides to go with your dinner. Don’t worry, feel free to ask for more if you happen to eat it all. I usually order the kimchi soondubu(kimchi tofu stew) which is a broth + tofu + veges + spices with a side of rice. The only thing lacking from the soondubu is the part where you add in a fresh egg so you can have an egg with the stew. overall though the food is very fragrant and delicious. there’s nothing better than having a hot spicy stew on a cold snowy day in buffalo. they also have korean bbq, where you can order different cuts of meat that have been marinated and you grill them on a stove top grill and eat them fresh like that. i haven’t had a chance to try it, but the menu has a wide selection, and it always smells delicious. just a tip, be sure to make a reservation if you want to try to bbq because they have limited tables for it. definitely will be coming back, probably the next time there’s a big snow.

The food? Was delicious. The service? Great. The problem? FOODPOISONING!!! Everybody in my family and in our guest’s family all either had diarrhea or vomiting the morning after we ate here, before breakfast. So unfortunately could not have been any other cause.(We did not have lunch together at the same restaurant before getting together at Woo Chon, for the record) So while I left the restaurant with a good impression and a good tasting meal. Can’t give it a good rating if everybody gets food poisoning!

And there you were thinking«Woo Chon» was something you used to scream at a Bön Jovi concert when he ruffled his permed hair while the opening bars of «Livin’ On A Prayer» played. Back in England, I lived in a Korea House. In that if you didn’t pursue a financially lucrative Korea, you were kicked out of the house. How do you think I ended up over here? What to get: Yug Gae Jang(beef soup). There are four Korean places in Buffalo that I know of, and all four are excellent. Seoul Garden towers above the rest for its awesome prices and has the best-tasting spicy beef bowls(love them!). Koreana is a little different and is delicious and original and has excellent Beef Kalbi. The«forgotten» Arirang is also very good. It’s usually very quiet. And then there is Woo Chon Korea House. It’s not fancy, but it’s fancier and more spacious than the other three(although Seoul Garden is spacious). The prices are a little higher than the others. But the food is amazing and the service is amazing. The service may even have been the best of the four places, although all of them were friendly and nice. Chat with the woman who owns it if you can, she is lovely. The décor is definitely the best and it’s the nicest«date night» spot out of the four, in fact it’s really the only one that looks like they made a big effort to make it «restauranty» rather than«hole in wall-y» which might explain the slightly higher prices. Speaking of Wall-y, they’re making Wall-E 2. Apparently. They have Korean BBQ here, which the other 3 places don’t. Some of the tables are special«Korean BBQ» tables. I’ve never tried it, I’d love to. I have to figure out if this is a good place for my first Korean BBQ experience or not, first. But one thing they do really well, is the Spicy Beef Bowl, which is my favourite dish at any restaurant. I asked for it a little extra spicy. I absolutely loved it… it was huge, wet, tasty, filling, and delicious. I recommend it to everyone. I don’t like it as much as Seoul Garden, either for product or price, but I definitely do love it. I think the reason I like SG the best is because of what they put in it… maybe the spices, maybe the meat, I can’t tell. Make sure you give Korea House a try. If you love Korean food as much as I do, you may well uncover a favourite. Most towns in the USA don’t even have one good Korean place… we have four of them here. Maybe if I buy enough Spicy Beef Bowls, I can single-handedly keep them in business! ;) There’s actually a rap act named after this restaurant, that’s how good it is. The«Woo Chon Clan.» Very well-respected and exciting act. Much like this restaurant. Just don’t come in here panhandling or asking them for money or free food. It’s not fair to mooch on Woo Chon.

So happy that I found this place. It’s amazing! Portions are huge and tasty! Not too expensive and worth the price. I will never bring the likes of Maxine to this place as it’s far too classy. Quiet and charming. Good for groups, but the grills may cause problems for children. However they’ll love the food so grab some take out!!! Yum!

Great Korean food in Buffalo. I’m glad I found this place because they have Korean BBQ with the hot grill and the food were delicious. I ordered(as usual) seafood tofu soup and stir-fried squid, and my friend ordered scallion pancake with jaeyook dolsot which is spicy pork with vegetable on rice. Very satisfied with the portion and the taste. I didn’t get to try the grill because there were only 4 stations available in the restaurant. Will come again.

This was a pretty ok experience, but a touch frustrating if you are not very very familiar with Korean food. The menu is written in Korean with a brief description in English underneath and waitstaff that really cant help explain due to the language barrier. Some of the prices are bizzare– for example a udon soup that I asked if it would be good to share with and she yes maybe for 2 people… well it was $ 13.95 and good enough for 4. There is no real explanation of the portion sizes. For example with the table bbq — you are not sure if the $ 26.95 bbq is a good enough portion for one person or 2. The price seems outrageous as well. We did have to move our table because 2 people at least have to bbq and I was the only one who wanted to try. The scallion pancake was good enough for 4 or 8 servings and was delicious. My shrimp teriyaki was good, a little overcooked on the shrimp, but tasty. The $ 103.00 with no drinks was the cost for 4 people… idk — Im not sure I’m running back. The bill is written in Korean so make sure to remember the prices of what you ordered.

I’ve been here twice now, once for a group dinner with fellow Unilocalers and the other time for a double date. Both times, I left satisfied and with a feeling that I expanded my cultural palate and embarked on a culinary adventure of sorts. Korean food is not something I eat very often, but it’s definitely a yummy experience full of subtle flavors, heat and even the ability to grill your own meats right at the table. My most recent experience involved five fellow dining partners, some Korean BBQ, a Seafood pancake(huggee — served like a pizza), some tasty dumplings and the Yook Gae Jang soup… not to mention the variety of different«appetizers» or side dishes that are brought out for free for every dining party. I love how you get to try a bunch of different Korean flavors to wet your appetite before the main meal starts! Those consisted of various kimchi(fermented cabbage, radishes), increedible mashed potatoes, fish cake, bean sprouts and a few others that I can’t recall right now. My favorite were the mashed potatoes and kimchi, but many among us were huge fans of the fish cake as well. We started with the Seafood pancake(thanks Wayne!), which is an appetizer that can be easily shared for large parties of six-eight people. It resembles a pizza without the marinara sauce or cheese, but packed full of seafood. I honestly can’t think of a good description for how it tasted, definitely not pizza like. but it was yummy! I’d suggest giving it a try, especially if you’re coming with a larger party — great item to share. Now on to the grilled meats… we ordered the Jumuluk Korean BBQ(B2), which was some marinated boneless short rib. Now yeah, at $ 22+ it’s fairly pricey, but if you’re coming with a large party it’s easy to share and each of us got 3 – 5 pieces. It comes with lettuce and the traditional way is apparently to wrap the meat around the lettuce and to eat it that way. I would have definitely appreciated if our waiter explained a little more the methods in which the food is typically enjoyed in Korean culture, but to their credit they did a nice job outlining it in the menu(which is like 8 pages by the way, holy cow!). There’s about 25 – 30 pieces of small meat total with BBQ order. You can either have the kitchen prepare it for you or if you’re sitting at a table with a grill in the middle, you can do it yourself(or have the server do it). I found it fun that our table did the grilling ourselves and it added to a communal experience. It also allowed us to eat our meats fresh off the grill and cook it to order. Yum! Now the main dishes came out pretty much at the same time as we were doing the grilling. I ordered the Yook Gae Jang soup, which had a spicy beef broth, vegetables, rice noodles what seemed like egg and about a ½ cup of rice that you mix into it. It was a red colored broth and the portion was huge for ~$ 12! If you’re averse to spicy food, definitely let them know in advance because as-ordered it’s got some heat to it. It took me a little bit to get comfortable with the flavors, but I enjoyed it and started slurping it up towards the end(which I was told is a sign of respect for the food in Korean culture). All in all, it was a great meal. My only feedback would be to try to coordinate the delivery of the food and time it so it doesn’t all come out at once as it can be a little overwhelming. Despite that, I thought it was delicious and they did a great job handling a larger group. Authentic and yummy. Will be back!
