Reasonable clean good service not the sushi or sashimi I prefer… very basic selection… but for a small town in North Dakota it was pretty good

The entire staff is amazing but I have to give props to Edgar; he is an amazing manager and always makes us feel welcomed.

Sushi bar? More like cat food and baby crap bar. Sushi was not fresh and looked like pâté. Skip this place and make your own sushi.

Forget this place. After fighting our way through the crowd of smokers to get in the door, the waiting area was dirty and smelled bad. Once seated the tables in front of us and on the side were filled with extremely drunk people with extra loud voices yelling and hollering and dropping the f-bomb every other word without regard for people with children sitting nearby. The management did nothing and said nothing. These guys kept their yelling back and forth to each other across the restaurant the entire time we were there. The food was mediocre and not prepared well. We are not strangers to eating out and go out often, My wife didn’t even touch her meal it was so bad. The wait staff was slow and didn’t ask us one time if we wanted anything more or if our food was good. The food was way overpriced, like everything in Williston. We won’t be back.

Sushi was okay for lunch. It was overpriced in my opinion — $ 38 did not go very far for one person.

Back again while in the area. Having fried squid which we have not tasted prep prior. Wow good. Best squid prep ever. we both agree. Had lots of mackerel. All they had in fact. My new favorite. Also octopus prep was my best experience here. But the sea saltiness of the mackerel is best. Great service here from entire staff.

In town on business from Chicago and I didn’t feel like a bar so I wondered into this sushi place work so so expectations. The service was great. I chatted with the sushi chefs at the bar — super friendly. Food was a mixed bag. The squid salad was great and tasted just like any decent sushi spot. Now I only had one role and sadly is was terrible. I ordered the flaming sake crunch per the waiters recommendation and it was original… Big mistake. First, it was sloppily made, none of the role held together. There was too much mayo sauce, I stop eating because the smell alone was sickening… Think mayo left in the sun too long. Lastly, tuna was not solid pieces, it was grated which is never a good sign. Funny part of the roll is that it looks like it is masquerading as a loaded Chicago hotdog… Weird. I’m sure this place has better sushi options but I definitely chose the wrong roll. Note as well, this place is crazy pricey, way more expensive than even the fancy sushi place you’ll go to in a big city.

2 years later and this is still the place to be. New businesses around town have popped up and while I think that’s awesome(and I eat at each of them every so often), Basil has continued to be the go-to. Service, food quality, consistency, and the restaurant itself are still the most appealing in Williston. Support this one, they won’t let you down. Thank you Edgar, Made, Rika, Gede, Livi, the owners, and very important, the chefs(who I’d list but I have not met personally) for a wonderful time, every time.

Neat little spot off downtown area of Williston. Started with the dumplings, very good. Followed by the Sesame Chicken which is sweet(think honey chicken) with just a little heat. The Pad Thia is sweet but very good. The egg rolls are average. The owner was very nice.

Thank you Unilocal! Found yet another quality restaurant after quickly scanning the AP. I’m in town on job and my team and we needed lunch, I consulted Unilocal and found myself here. I had udon lunch noodles with a small plate of seaweed wrapped tuna — excellent! And FAST(super friendly staff). Sorry, no pictures… I ate too quickly.

Excellent! Went there every day for a week, lunch and dinner. By Friday with client, they all knew my name! Locals highly recommend, so do I — hope to go back next April!

The staff here is wonderful. It’s a team effort here, where it feels like the entire staff is constantly waiting on you. Wonderful service I’ve tried several of the dishes here The gyoza(potstickers) are excellent The Mongolian beef is excellent, although a bit spicier than I’ve had it before. But I love it(if you like spicy, you’ll like it) The tempura shrimp and veggies are really good Sweet and sour chicken was good, but a little bit too breaded for me The teriyaki beef was also very good The tempura ice cream and mochi are also delicious. Overall, I keep coming back to try new things and I haven’t found anything that I disliked.

Dinner on a Monday early, 5pm: Welcoming staff, great service, our complete dinner was served 5min after ordering. Awkward booth though– the table was above my chest. I’d ask for a table & chairs next time. Immediate drinks. Tasty egg drop soup. Two flavorless spring rolls were presented beautifully with an excellent peanut sauce. Each piece of the roll contained only 1 butterflied shrimp=4 total. DH loved his combo fried rice with chicken, beef, &3 shrimp. I’d eat there again.

Excellent fresh fish. Basal is slightly more expensive than the other sushi places in Williston, but you can taste it in the quality of their fish– well worth the money!

Wow, well to start I just got to Williston this afternoon and I started to scope out places to eat once I settled in. I saw Basil sushi and I thought it was going to be a joke because really? Great Sushi in the middle of the states? Well I read all the awesome reviews and gave it a shot and I was not let down. I had salmon sashimi and a Cali roll to play it safe. Holy moly the salmon was so fresh and cut so thick. I don’t even get that kind of sushi in Portland right on the ocean! I am so impressed. I will most definitely be visiting a few more times before I have to go back home!

Top of the line, top notch staff, and adequately priced for the quality of fresh, delicious fish this far from the ocean. I was originally skeptical of a sushi fusion restaurant so far from the coast, but I went and had an absolutely amazing time. The rainbow roll was fantastic. The environment is calm and a little dark, as it’s supposed to be. They have an ample selection of imported and domestic alcohol, as well. I was only able to go 4 times in my 3 months in Williston, but I’m not lying when I almost consider it worth it to fly back just to eat there. Don’t believe me? Just try it.
