Went here with my parents for a quick and easy lunch while I was in town for my birthday. The service this time was good, but sometimes it can be spotty. I ordered the lunch option with a cup of Clam Chowder, half a Reuben, and a slice of Pecan Pie. Needless to say, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I managed to finish everything though!!! The chowder had a lot, a lot of big chunks of potato. I’m not saying I don’t like potatoes, but maybe just make the chunks a little smaller? It almost felt like I had half a potato in my small, little cup. The Reuben was alright. It could have used more sauce because a majority of the sandwich didn’t have any. The pie though? That’s what they’re really known for, and they always deliver. I’m a weirdo and like to eat all the pecans off the top of my pie before I dig into the crust and innards, but every single bite was incredible. It was pretty darn sweet and sugary, but that malty, sticky mixture is straight from heaven. The space might need a little help with upkeep, but the pies are always great.

Worst ever service. Before being seated the Mgr informed hostess we would need one more set of silverware, hostess said she would take care of it. Server took forever to take our order. A different server brought part of our order, we informed him an order was missing as was some silverware, he never came back. Our server finally came by and eventually we had our complete order. Funny thing is there were about 6 servers and only about eight tables. At times none of them were on the floor. Who knows what was going on behind that wall that was more important then servicing customers. Hostess and manager seemed to be uninterested.

Good food but really slow service. Came in at 8pm on a Saturday night… restaurant wasn’t that busy. Sat for 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by waitress… food came out at a reasonable time… then sat for 10 more minutes with our empty plates waiting for waitress to come back to get our pie order. During this time, we could overhear waitress talking to table behind us that she«needed» a smoke break bc she was stressed. We stopped here as a passer-byer, and next time we art in the area, we will pass right by.

Great food followed by great pie. Wonderful service also. A little hard to find but worth the effort.

The table was dirty and the food was cold. We order coffee and had to send it back twice because it was cold. We order soup and sure enough it was cold plus it only took 45 minutes to get! So, we get our meal. I order pot roast, no flavor at all, if They put a description on the menu it should read, potatoes with salty gravy, carrots and potatoes. If you like gravy and potatoes this would be a perfect choice. Oh may I add this was cold too! Oh and we order bread that it’s supposed to come with your meal! It actually took an additional 20 minutes to come! By far the worst service and worst food. But the kicker was this, the waitress said she will give us a slice of pie for our trouble, yes that was nice of her, maybe having the manager come to talk to us would had been a good idea? Needless to say, they only had three different pies. She said we are expecting a pie drop in a couple of hours. What a laugh. Thanks but no thanks.

Great food and amazing pies. My personal favorite is the french silk followed by the pecan pie which typically wins an award every year. I have been to this location many times and typically every year prior to thanksgiving to pick up pies. Staff is friendly and offers wonderful insight. Restaurant area is clean and always a delight. Can’t wait to go back!

The rep for Bakers Square contacted me via Unilocal to make good of the situation. I dont think it is that serious. Dont need any free food or anything. I just want decent service, and what I paid for. 2 more stars for effort.

It is similar to a diner or friendly’s. Casual place with comfort foods including soups, salads, and sandwiches. Boyfriend had the chicken pot pie and he was raving about it. I had a meal where you choose 3 items for $ 9 and I got tomato soup, garden salad, and pie. Simple food but good. Pie is delicious and they have a million options. I would come here late night to get work done with coffee and pie– Friday night open til midnight. I got blueberry pie and this caramel pie– so good but whipped cream is extra :(

Almost like an upscale denny’s similar to a cracker barrel kind of food. You go in there for the pies and wednesday is definitely the day to do, but always find something appealing on the menu nevertheless granted is fairly average with very little seasoning/flavors. The atmosphere is very calm and casual, and service is pretty standard. I think they need a revitalize the menu and they’d get a bigger crowd. WIll come back for pies, but in no rush for the main menu.

Solid sandwiches, and soups. The pies are notable. Wednesdays you get a free slice of pie with meal. It’s an older crowd but good casual food. Staff is friendly.

First time here and I really liked it! Tried the silk pie and the strawberry tart(I can’t remember the exact name). Total came out to less than 8 dollars for two pieces! Lots of sit in area and very fast service. Can’t believe I didn’t come here before!

We go to this Baker’s Square all the time and they really do things right here. They are always friendly and the food is actually really good. Their burgers are really fresh and cooked just right! It amazes me how fast the food comes out of the kitchen too. For a good dinner, great service, and right price you really can’t beat Baker’s Square!

If you don’t want to be disappointed, just stick to ordering pies & expect polite staff when coming to this site. I’ve had better quality food at the Cook County Hospital cafeteria & I’m NOT exaggerating! The soups taste like canned stuff, the sandwiches were boring and the salads were a combinations of unbalanced flavors & low-er-quality ingredients. I never thought it was possible to fuck-up a sandwich until now. Sorry! For the record though, the chain makes a killer natural strawberry pie! It is just the right amount of sweet & simple, fresh ingredients. The sale bread loaves looked a little stale so I wouldn’t attempt to buy one just to report to Unilocal,as I was already let down by the other items.

Service was really poor by my standards,(I’ve waitressed before). We had a long wait and the place was nearly empty. It seemed they were understaffed even for being empty!!! The food was decent. But I don’t know if I would come back.

I have been a fan of Bakers Square pies for quite some time, but it had been at least five or six years since I sat down in one of the restaurants for a meal. Was it because the food was sub-par, or because they closed down the location closer to my home? I was about to find out. I rather enjoyed the décor; you could tell it was recently updated. Light brown painted walls with paintings of fruit adorning the walls. The faux fireplace in the corner was just a bit much, though. We were greeted and seated promptly. For a Saturday morning at 8:00, I expected it to be a bit more crowded, but we were the only patrons in the place for at least twenty minutes before another diner came in. Perhaps that should have been a warning sign. Our server got our coffee, but never came back with our requests of water. On to the food. Now I know why I had stayed away this long. I had an egg white and cheese omelet with toast and fresh fruit. Everything from the fruit to the eggs were utterly tasteless. I suppose I could get the same experience from eating some packing peanuts, since the fruit had an almost foam-like texture. The egg whites were rather slimy and runny on the plate. I hate wasting food, but I was only able to eat about half of the meal. Same with my father; and he NEVER leaves an empty plate. He only ate half, and after sampling some of his egg white, spinach and tomato scramble, learned it suffered the same lack of flavor as my dish. Our server was AWOL throughout the whole meal. We never got a coffee refill, and we only saw her again when she dropped the check off and whisked our half-finished plates away without a word. Shouldn’t that be some sort of red flag? Perhaps inquire if everything was OK? No such luck; it seemed she had other pressing issues of yucking it up with her coworker behind the wall that separated the kitchen from the dining room. Overall, just not really impressed. I know why I have avoided meals at this place as long as I did.

This is such a good place for an above average breakfast or lunch. It’s very clean and the wait staff is professional, friendly and efficient. You don’t get a good breakfast one time and then the next time not so good. Food preparation and quality is consistently good. I like to know what to expect at a restaurant and i’m never disappointed here. Great value, excellent food.

Much improved! We had a great experience here a couple of weeks ago and I need to update my review. Nancy was an excellent server– we appreciated her a lot. And my favorite salad– the Asian chicken stir fry salad– was delicious this time– delicious chicken, good temperature, brightly colored vegetables on top of a better mix of lettuce(not just iceberg) — awesome!

The renovation looks good and the menu has been revamped. Food is simple, but still good. Pies are still delightful. Service is just okay — that would be my only complaint.

After a one year hiatus of not having Baker’s Square pie(for no other reason than I just do not like being inside their restaurants), my family and I stopped there after a healthy rib dinner at The Patio. While I have been eating this pie for over 20 years, I have always had a mental block about not going inside the stores. I can distinctly remember the consistently unclean glass windows and doors at the Westmont location(before it closed). Upon entering the Willowbrook restaurant, my first observation was the obnoxious compact fluorescent lighting. While this type of light is energy-saving, it does not belong in a dining room. Observation #2 was a menu that was completely unappealing. Their slogan«Come for the food, stay for the pie» is an admission that the food is struggling and the pie is thriving. They should focus on their strengths. My recommendations: 1. Change the name back to Poppin’ Fresh Pies(yes, that was their original name) 2. Sell only pies in a takeout environment. Lose the dining room.

I have been coming here for 25+ years, I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed it! My Mom and I have been having Jeanette wait on us for ions! What I have noticed lately is that they need some more help! And a busboy! The waitstaff buses their own tables and are often left uncleaned! After dining here on Friday, they recently did an upgrade to their dining room. They desperately need a good manager to get this place wiped into shape! This place could really be hopping if they had more help and better direction! Good food, great pies!
