I like this little shopping area. Parking is easy, a few good stores, a few good restaurants — never overly crowded. NY&C has some good deals and good prices. The sales staff at this location was a tad pushy about signing up for their credit card, but I guess that is part of their job. Some of the displays were tossed about, from customers digging through them, and the store is a bit crowded with merchandise, making it hard to see everything they carry. Overall, good place to shop and an easy price point.

Large, bright, spacious store. Great place to shop for business-type clothing. I felt like the styles were a little bit more mature than my 28 years, but they had tons of great options with coordinating sweaters, shoes, purses, etc. to complete any look. I could see someone spending a lot of money here, just not me… yet. I didn’t get approached by any sales people, but the one who was ringing up customers seemed cheerful.

First of all, this is listed as being in Willowbrook. Isn’t it Burr Ridge? Anyway. We had some time(two freaking hours) to kill before we had a reservation for early dinner at Cooper’s Hawk. It was FREEZING and I wasn’t about to wander this little shopping area very extensively. We parked in front of New York & Company and there was a period of time in my life years ago where I would spend LOADS of money there because they had clothes that I really liked, so I decided to check it out as I hadn’t been in one in a few years. The two women working were very nice, but the store was so weird. The layout was bizarre as hell and seemed to have no rhyme or reason to it. I didn’t like a single article of clothing in there, save for one shirt that I bought(for 30% off, yay) which is a shame because most of what was in there was 70% or 80% off. It almost seemed like the entire store was one giant hodgepodge clearance rack. Very odd. I’ve never not been able to find at least a handful of things to buy. So this shirt I liked… it’s turquoise which is one of my favorite colors. I’d been looking for something longer to wear over leggings and this one goes just below my butt and fits very well. It’s a «drape neck tunic — heathered.» If they had it in any better colors(all they had other than the turquoise was a light green and a grey. So whatever. I was glad that I found that, but pretty bummed out overall. I generally hate shopping for clothes, which is odd because I have WAYTOOMUCH of them, but this has usually been a pretty reliable place for me. Perhaps it’s just this particular location, or maybe they just suck now in my opinion.

I have been in this store several times with the same bad experience. The sales associates are not friendly and welcoming when you walk in the store. There is never a greeting. As you walk around the store, they follow you as if they are trying to catch you stealing. If they must monitor for theft, the polite thing to do is to ask the customer if they need help looking for something instead of making the customer feel uncomfortable. I would never attempt to use the fitting room at this place for fear they would be peeking under the door to see if I was stuffing something up my shirt! These sales associates give me no reason to ever want to return to this particular store. New York & Company’s Corporate office will certainly be hearing from me.
