This was a favorite pizza in the area… wish it would re-open!

Is it possible that I’ve never done a review for Phillies!!? Wow I’ve been coming here since junior high?! I am super bummed because upon going in to pick up a couple beef sandwiches the girl at the counter told me they would be closed for business in two days. I said so what are you updating things? She said no they’re closing for good?! I guess they’re rent was too extremely high plus the new Whole Foods wanted them out of the strip center. I said well what difference would it make to Whole Foods if their was a pizza place close to them. I would think they’d have more of an issue having TCBY or the Goodwill Store rather than a nice pizza restaurant. I learned that they’re affiliated with Papa’s pizza which there is one right down the street from me so I could get our beef and cheese sandwiches there. I will miss their cheddar cubes although!

My favorite pizza in the whole wide world! I’ve been coming here since 1988 and always order the Mrs. Phillie’s Special pizza. Through the years I’ve moved to Central Illinois, and now to Las Vegas. I continue to stop here each and every time I come home. The drink prices are reasonable, and the crowd is very laid back and inviting. Some of the servers have been here as long as I have! My absolute favorite server is Noël, she’s the sweetest lady there is and has always remembered me throughout the years. The décor hasn’t changed much since its inception which adds to the overall nostalgia. Phillie’s will always hold a special place in my heart, I hope you can experience that too.

Really good pizza. Delicious sauce and ingredients. The onion rings were just OK. The service was great. Will be back next time I’m in the area. Kudos!

Absolutely the BEST thin crust pizza anywhere! Crust is crispy all day and the ingredients are fresh daily and the sausage tasty! Highly recommend Phillie’s Pizza in Willowbrook!!! Dennis

Always good food. And great service. Loved the history about the surrounding area on the walls. Made for some great reading while waiting for our dinner. The room where our party was held, could definitely use new tv’s …flat screens!

Entered Phillies at 3:00 pm. The sign said«Seat Yourself» which I did. Almost 10 minutes later, a waitress comes from the back and asks, «How are you?» I said, «Fine, now that you’re here.» She asked, «Waiting long?» I said, «Yes, quite a while,» and she gave a non-believing look. Anyway, last time here, a small cheese and sausage pizza cost about $ 17, all told — without a beverage. This time, besides a dining room without any workers in sight, it was the high prices that were disturbing. This time, I had a reuben sandwich with fries and a glass of Coke. While the reuben was just ok, and the fries and accompanying cole slaw were good, the final bill was $ 13.95! The reason being the Coke. A glass of Coke costs $ 2.95(plus tax) at this place. Such incredibly high prices for a beverage can ruin an otherwise doable dining experience. All in all, someone needs to «man» the restaurant so they know when a customer comes in. The atmosphere is kind of dark and dreary — even for an old pizza joint — the staff attentiveness is obviously lacking, and the horrendous $ 2.95 pricing for a glass of pop needs to be reconsidered. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place at this time.

I love their beef and cheese. Their fries are great and the service is friendly and fast with your order.

Picked up a small thin crust today. Got home, opened up the pizza to find it completely burnt. They sent out another and it was just okay. I took a break from them for about 4 months to try other places. I don’t know if there are new owners now but the pizza was terrible.

I had the battered shrimp and they were beyond tasty, it felt like oral sex on a balmy New Orleans night, crispy and creamy but not overdone, the tomato salad that came with it mashed perfectly with the Shrimps, the Stella Artois washed it down and I was as happy as a lark.

Yes, the quality of the menu items isn’t consistently amazing. Yes, when you dine in everything about the atmosphere feels cheap. But I don’t care — the pizza is too good. To this day, Phillis is my favorite thin crust pizza PERIOD. Prices are pretty solid compared to their local competition and there is enough on the menu for you to find something to eat if you don’t want pizza or don’t eat meet. I love this place but believe that take out or delivery are definitely your best options.

The last time I was here was 8 years ago… me and my bf, moved in together and has lived in Darien for 7 years and we always wanted to swing by, but end up somewhere else. Anyways, finally this past weekend, I think Friday night, we came back… and it looks basically the same… same staff, same décor… We sat at the bar(bartender was really friendly, informative– but not annoying friendly)… the family sit down area, was pretty busy… the bar area was quite busy with patrons who knew each other… We ordered the spicy shrimp popcorn, which was pretty decent size appetizer… nothing spectacular… We ordered the salad… and it was delicious and a hefty portion… with anchovies… yummy Next, we ordered Phillies special thin crust… and i’m glad we did… it was incredible. I’m still getting goose bumps when I think of the thin crust pizza we got from Rosati’s(check out my previous Unilocal. It was cold and too oily, gross) Anyways… this Phillies Special… is really good… really thin, not oily at all… really hot when its served, and has the perfect crunch… I suggest giving it a few minutes to rest, before eating… I learned my lesson… when its not at its hottest temp, it was divine… they serve popcorn every 10 minutes… brilliant idea… you kinda want to order more drinks while eating popcorn… and since some people are allergic to nuts. popcorn is the best salty refreshing option… We will be back soon…

I’ll say this would be a 2 star if it wasn’t for the great wait staff, smiles galore, I had bbq beef, gf had bake mostacholi, sp?’. Anyways the sauce on the beef was a wierd tangy with a smoke taste, freshly put on the beef, not cooked in like it should have been. Gf’s Dish looked good, just a plain mostacholi dish with baked mozzarella on top, nothing special here with what we ate, waitress was 5 star, décor was 4 – 5 star, food was 2 star

Great staff. Really nice waitress. Doesn’t bother you. The raspberry iced tea is delicious. The pizza took a while but it’s is worth it. It’s fantastic. The inside has a saloon vibe to it. It’s a pretty nice place.

I’ve heard good things about the hot wings here, so I thought I’ve give them a shot. I placed a takeout order for wings and mentioned that I liked them pretty spicy, and they offered some wing sauce on the side at no extra charge. The wings were of decent size, juicy and moderately spicy without dosing them up with the sauce. Which I, of course, did. They were served with celery sticks but no blue cheese or ranch dipping sauce. I don’t order chicken wings that often, but the price seems a little bit high to me(at nearly a buck per wing), even given the size and high quality of the ones here. It’s not a dealbreaker, though. I’m glad this place is in the neighborhood. Next time I’ll try the pizza.

Another visit to Phillies and it was well worth the trip. One of the few remaining good family friendly mom and pop pizza parlors left in the area. Great pizza. One of the best thin crispy crusts anywhere. I have been visiting here since I worked in the area over 20 years, and our server had been there as long as I can remember. We will continue to visit, we’ll worth the trip.

I have been going to Phillies for the past few years when I attend a convention in the area. The décor here is seriously lacking, but I don’t come here for the décor, I come here for the pizza. That being said it is some seriously good pizza. They pile the toppings high yet still make the thin crust very crispy.(Just the way I like it!) Their fried chicken is great, too. My daughter ordered it and loved it and I ‘had’ to steal a bite :) Very crisp yet not greasy and had a delicious flavor.

If McKayla Maroney came here, she’d be all kinds of unimpressed. My friends and I were looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite and to get a beer. We originally went to a different place, but we were pretty hungry, so not knowing the Willowbrook area too well, we stopped at Phillies because it was close by and because my friend had been here once before. The restaurant/bar was pretty empty and kinda dark. We took a seat at a table near the bar and looked at the menus. They have several daily specials. One of the specials for Wednesday is Sam Adams Oktoberfest. Boy, I hope they just haven’t updated their menu and that they don’t actually still have Oktoberfest around. You know, because it’s January. And because anything left over from October can’t be good anymore. Beer expires, FYI. I decided to go with a draft of 312, since there aren’t many beer options: Miller, Bud, Stella, 312, and some other generic draft. Not much of a selection, but hell, a 312 is fine with me. Unfortunately, it tasted weird. I should have known better than to trust the tap at a place like this. As for food, I ordered the hot dog basket which just comes with fries and some slaw. The hot dog was okay, but I’ve had better at smaller places. There were barely any fries, but that was fine since they weren’t that good anyway. They were way over-fried. As for the atmosphere, it’s kinda depressing. There’s some weird paintings by the bar of naked women. The regulars(I’m assuming) were just sitting there watching Wheel of Fortune. Also, for not a lot of people being in the resturant, our waitress was pretty unattentive. It took a while for her to come to our table and drop off our check. We were ready to pay immediately, but it took about 10 minutes for her to come back and pick them up. Speaking of my check, my total was $ 11. For what? A crappy draft beer and a hot dog? Seriously? Looking at other reviews, it seems like they might have good pizza, but after this experience, I don’t know that I’d want to even try. This place is pretty divey, but there’s good divey, and then there’s Phillies.
