This place has been renamed Willows Roadhouse, but other than a new sign and menu, its exactly the same as Old Hwy 99 Steakhouse. You would think that during the closed transition period, they would have at least painted the place. The men’s room smells like the sewer line is open to it. Despite the new menu with more choices, food is below mediocre. The stale croutons taste packaged. Pastrami sandwich was advertised as being generous or heaping, so I immediately imagined a New York deli style pastrami piled a few inches high. What came out was a pastrami sandwich about as think as a standard peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Oh, and the prices are high too and the parking lot is gravel. Go to the Black Bear Diner instead.

Bar is currently open and the restaurant will soon reopen as Willows Roadhouse. Luke is a great bartender and will mix up whatever your thirsty for! Kind of excited for something new in Willows. Updates to follow… stay tuned.

Synopsis: Wow. Just wow. Shockingly, unbelievably bad. Full Review: Ok, so I never give a horrible review unless I have visited the place at least a couple times. That way if they were just having an off day that first visit, there is a chance to redeem their service. I am going to make an exception this time because there is no way on the face of God’s green earth I would be caught dead in Old Hwy 99 Steakhouse again. Ever. Ever. The restaurant itself seems to be an afterthought to the bar. It is oddly decorated with creepy taxidermy, a hodge podge of framed prints, and table and chairs that look as though they once graced the cafeteria of the local hospital. We went there for lunch and were very surprised(after hubby ordered the French Dip sandwich) that they had no bread. So he changed his order to teriyaki and rice. The waitress appeared again moments later with the news that they had no rice either. I suppose this would be great for people eating low carb. She then decided they had bread after all and hubby went back to his original order. Now, roast beef can be served on the rarer side, especially on a French Dip sandwich, but this was raw. Cold and raw. I ordered the grilled chicken ranch wrap and was very disappointed there was little actual ranch dressing until I picked up the second half and about ¼ cup of dressing came pouring out. The coleslaw side was so vinegary it made my eyes tear and when I mentioned it to the waitress(mostly as a heads up that something was very wrong with the batch of coleslaw) she brought me a new one that was bone dry. Not one hint of coleslaw dressing. We call that cabbage. She brought me a bowl of raw, dry cabbage. There was one waitress covering 4 tables and she seemed to be harried. At one point she served a table of 2 from a utility cart. You know, the kind they use to tote trays, dirty dishes and mop buckets in a kitchen. Clearly not for use in the dining room. At a certain point you just have to laugh because you can’t send your order back anymore. So if every other restaurant in town were to inexplicably close their doors and you found yourself standing outside Old Hwy 99 Steakhouse, go and head on in. You may not get a good meal but you will come out with a great story.

Food is too expensive and it’s not very good. The bar tender is nice and wait staff are good but the restaurant is not on par with any other steak house. Last resort for a steak.

Incredibly average. Prime rib was tough. Beer is cheap which is why I gave two stars. Not a real steakhouse. It has the ambiance of a banquet hall in Missouri. Don’t waste your time.

In looking for real estate I. The area, we stumbled across this wonderful steak house. It is a step back in time– just what you would expect from small town Americana. Friendly staff with a cute high school girl waitress who loves the town and chats too much. Food was delicious and ambiance rustic romantic!

Thanks Unilocalers, what a great find. Great steak, moderate prices and friendly service. As someone else mentioned it is not much on the outside but don’t be deterred. It is nice, not fancy, but nice on the inside. Rotary here on Thursdays.

I had the chicken and my wife had the sea food dinner plate. The food was great and the waitress was very good. It has a full bar so if you wanted to unwind a bit you can. I would recommend this place again

Great spot… very friendly staff. Steaks are seasoned and grilled perfectly and the servings are healthy. Nothing fancy! Good, local food in a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend. Ps…lamb chops are delicious

I visited this establishment with a group of friends(6 in total) on a Saturday night. I was a bit worried because the place was empty. The Old Highway 99 Steakhouse is pretty«plain Jane» outside but what it lacks in superficial flair it makes up for with wonderful staff and excellent food. The staff have a genuine sense of humor and aren’t «stiff» as you’ll often find in chain joints. The calamari and fried pickles are delish, and the steaks are flavorful. Mixed drinks from the bar were a bit weak, but I didn’t care, our server was a RIOT!

Nice little local steakhouse. I had a NY Strip that was seasoned and done to perfection. The entire bill for six people was 126.00 and that included drinks. Not bad for the money.
