The animals have no room. Its dirty. The exhibits are falling apart. I dont know how they have been in business this long. The birds are in tiny cages in a hot hallway. Many of them are pulling all their feathers out. Do not go here. Its a sad place. I hurt for these animals.

This place is a disgrace and it is sad that the people working there believe the B.S. that they are trained to say. I am proud to say that I am doing more than writing a nasty Unilocal review to make sure this place has the proper authorities come in and see the mistreatment. When we asked the zoo director where the water was for the bears his response was«what are you an inspector?» Giving that kind of sass instead of pointing to the place where water would have been would have been a normal response if the water was actually in the habitat with them. They said that the water for each animal is fastened in a tube like you would have for a hamster cage. This would be adequate if these were hamsters– but they are large cats and bears that need more than a drip each time they are thirsty. We were also told that the large animals get fed every few days or on a need basis– like the lion phones them up each time she is hungry. The price of admission is 8.50 and I have no idea where that money is going since all the animals look malnourished and are going crazy. From the outside and the two small signs on the street we were expecting petting zoo and roadkill animals, this is rural Alabama. Much to our dismay they had too many large animals that they just do not have the funding or manpower for. They have 2 people working there and there is physically not enough time for them to make sure that all of the animals are in proper habitats with clean water. Yes zookeeper lady– that is the largest lioness I have ever seen as well. Why is it so large? Well, it has no where to exercise and can barely walk so yes that is why it is large. There are social animals that are in small cages alone. A coyote that looked like a shelter dog, monkeys that were alone in humane society like shelters. If you believe that this«zoo» is «saving» this animals from death than you too are in denial. I know that the animals would chose getting stuffed than living an extra five years in captivity. This place is an insane asylum for animals. If this was a family of people– they would all be in jail and the kids would be taken in by the government. Unfortunately our society still undervalues the life of an animal and its living conditions. I know there is a hot place in hell for those that mistreat creatures that are unable to speak for themselves.

Loved the location, how it felt like an adventure! The location sat perfectly in a wooded/secluded setting. Loved being able to feed most of the animals! We especially enjoyed seeing and feeding the bears, the lemurs, and the monkeys. This is not your typical zoo, which made us enjoy it that much more! The staff was very compassionate and was very knowledgable about each and every animal! We will definitely be returning on our next visit!

The reason I really love this zoo is knowing that the director rescued all of these animals! For instance, I was informed that the white tiger was going to be sent to a taxidermist to be stuffed by his previous owner until the Mobile Zoo director rescued him from that. This animals are more than adequately fed as I got to watch first hand one of the staff feed them. It would be nice if the animals had more room to roam, but this is essentially a rescue sanctuary where someone is trying to give these animals better lives than they once had. I really enjoy going to this zoo and plan on volunteering soon.

Our family will never be going to this zoo again. The animals were poorly taken care of. There wasn’t water in most of the cages, the animals were all malnourished looking. There are also almost 20USDA violations. This place is a joke. You walk through shrubbery to see poor animals in distress. It should be closed down!

we were pleasantly surprised. i’ve seen the sign off moffett for years but it was so rundown-looking that i just thought it was a joke(sign has since been updated)! i asked around and it’s really there. very nice, w/picnic tables, well manicured,(be prepared to walk alot) and some pretty wild animals! would make a great party spot for a small gathering. pricing is $ 7/adults, $ 6/kids, and 2-under free… so great deal. the weather is perfect to visit. we’ll definitely go back alot.
