My grandmother use to bring into A Second Time Around when I was kid and I hated it! A lot has changed in twenty years but this business is still a staple along Front Street… until now. Yes, the business is moving locations to Wrightsville Avenue and now that I have matured I can truly appreciate how amazing this store is. The store prepared for the big move by hosting a large sale to reduce the inventory. This sale was more like a huge party with cocktails and snacks included. When I arrived I saw two somewhat disgruntled looking older gentleman with piles of clothes in their laps. I laughed loudly as I watched their partners pile more clothes on top. Basically anything you could fit in a bag was $ 25 and this bags were large! I took my time and made my way around the sea of women trying to find clothing that needing a second chance. After settling on a few pieces I made my way to check out, however the lady ringing me up instead I take another look around since my bag wasn’t even half full. I agreed and took another lap around the crowded shop and was excited to find two brand new suite dresses which I had previously overlooked. The event was super fun and I got a bunch of really nice mature pieces to ad to my wardrobe. I also got over a dozen pairs of earrings at .50 cents each. I can’t wait to check out the new location and I hope they do sales likes this more often.

I love that the vibe from this store is one of a old town department store from 50 years ago. They have the mannequins in the front windows that display various things they sell, and it has been in a very patriotic them for awhile. Once you go in there is SO much stuff to check out. I’d say that the majority of their stuff is consignment, but the prices are pretty fantastic if you really want to dig around. They carry true vintage clothes, but those are a set price. You can get bags, jewelry, women’s shoes, men’s clothing and, of course, women’s clothes all in this place. There is an antique store in the very back, but I didn’t check it out. The vintage clothes are gonna be a little bit higher than the rest of the store, and the jewelry has prices I balked at. I saw a few Enid Collin’s bags in a display case and got excited since I collect them, but they had prices that I thought someone who was high put on there. They will buy clothes too, but they won’t pay you much for them. They are closed on Sun and Mon.

This store was great! They had a lot to choose from and the ladies that worked there were super nice too. Styles ranged from the 50’s to the 80’s. I found an awesome purse and some paisley cords(who’d a thought). There were a ton of bridesmaid and evening gowns, some were so gaudy, that I wondered about the person who had to wear them for the evening, lol. Not much to choose from on the men’s side of the room tho. Everything seemed to be on sale. The pants.$ 2.00! Whoa I said, I’ll take em. If you happen to be window shopping in downtown Wilmington, please stop.
