I went her to celebrate a friend’s birthday. This restaurant has a very laid back environment. While they take reservations, they are not necessarily needed. The food was good but the company was better! We tried the crab fries for an appetizer to be shared at the table. The fries were perfectly seasoned with a hint of olé bay seasoning and ample crab meat. The cheese was gooey and melted & made me keep coming back for me. My entrée was the salmon, which was served with a saffron rice & creamed spinach. The waitress warned me about the creamed spunach, I should have taken heed. The spinach had more cream, than spinach. The salmon was light and filling. The portions were huge and there was no room for desserr. The décor was a room filled with various depictions of fish placed throughout. Big fish had small flavors. While the food was ok, this isn’t a place that I must try again.

UMMM~ my first visit to this location(business association with the one in Princeton NJ) after walking up to and in the place I was really expecting a GREAT meal. Lotsa people walking in, a huge restaurant and bar plenty of TV’s and a real customer friendly staff. Wow I’m in the place to be… EHH maybe not. Our oyster and shrimp appetizer was a great way to start off but that’s where the party ended. I ordered the crab cakes and two awesome sounding vegetables. Trust me they had to sound good for me to double up(see pics for more detail). I was really surprised by the lack of crab meat in these crab cakes I’ve definitely had and have made much better. A real disappointment. My dinner guest ordered the«Big Fish Cioppino»(fresh fish, shrimp, clams, mussels & scallops in a tomato garlic wine broth over linguine. Sounds a lot better then it tasted. I took the leftovers With us and doctored it up just to salvage it for her. I was amazed at how quick the food hit our table once we ordered, this food had to be partially prepared to get it out that quickly. Sorry but we decided after a disappointing dinner to go elsewhere for dessert.

I was hesitant coming here but it turned out to be a pretty good place. The décor is really cool and I like it when you walk in that you can see the raw bar and they list all of their fish on a big board. I started off with their very large shrimp and it was very good. The cocktail sauce was homemade and the shrimp were fantastic. For dinner I had the crab cakes and they were awesome as well. They had two menus, which was pretty confusing but we figured it out. They have their own hot sauce but it wasn’t very good. Overall the service was very good for the large party we had(11). It was pretty cold out so we weren’t able to sit outside but I bet it’s an awesome place to sit outside.

Not a big seafood eater, but when I do, this is the only place to go! Great service, great food. Little pricy, but then again, seafood is.

We came here between Christmas and New Years. Kinda pre-stuffed, but you gotta eat. First had oysters which were fresh and good(4). Mushroom soup was also great and the lobster dip was great(5). Also mixed drinks(5) but the drink service was poor.(2) First, Zara was totally clueless about Single Malt scotchs; she went to check, returned and announced they have one – Dewars. Kudos for naming a scotch but it’s a blend. A trip to the bar identified about 8 single malts, from which I chose Macallan. Then came the main courses… The Wedge salad was huge and good, crab cakes great, lobster nicely prepared …(5) for the seafood. Risotto and vegetables were good(4). No dessert. Overall very good experience, but the service – as our friends said– was«a little weird.» If you like seafood – you should definitely come here.

Okay. This place? Expensive. But worth it. The fish is meaty and substantial; they really do pick the best cuts of seafood. Heck, even the jumbo shrimp were filling. I overestimate what I can eat every. single. time.

Waited all week to visit the grill, I was so excited! Boy was I elated to enjoy a most awesome experience! The server, Nikki was incredible! She gave us suggestions and walked us through the menu expertly! She was involved in all of our choices and seemed to work on a strong team of skilled staff. Beautiful holiday decorations iced the already gorgeous, energetic and happy riverside fresh seafood grill! From the iced tea to the Listerine in the bathroom, FANTASTIC! Bookmarking and recommending! Thank you for a lovely evening.

will always be one of my favorite spots, since it was where my boyfriend and I had our first date. This place never disappoints. Food is fresh, service is friendly, and the wait is never as long as they say it’ll be.

The best crab bisque I have ever had!!! Disappointed that there isn’t a restaurant similar to Big Fish on Long Island.

Faaaaaavoooorite fish grill!!! The crawfish jambalaya is so good, add a good stiff drink and you are good to go. I always get seated quickly and food comes out in a reasonable time. Oh and always get a soup, the crab/lobster soup is very good too.

Not a bad place, but not a particularly good find either. The service was a bit spotty at times, with long waits. The menu was very extensive, and the food was OK, but seemed pricey for what you got. Decent beer selection, and there’s TVs in the bar area.

Visited while going up for business. Colleague of mine and I ordered the Mussels in White Wine, it was great! Especially with the garlic bread which i had to order another round of that delicious bread to dip in the white wine sauce. I followed that up with the Red Snapper, perfect, perfect, perfect. Their menu was a little overwhelming at first, but I also praise them for it because they have plenty of variety. I plan on visiting again.

We returned to Wilmington for Saturday evening dinner on our weekend trip to the Nemours mansion and New Castle. Always eager for seafood, the restaurant of choice was Big Fish Grill on the Riverfront. We were seated outside on the patio facing the Christina River and the Riverwalk path. The late July evening was very pleasant. The moderate temperature and humidity made for a most enjoyable ambiance for dinner. I ordered the Key Lime Pepper Florida Grouper from the daily specials while my wife ordered the Fried Scallops. My grouper came over a shrimp risotto and grilled asparagus. All delicious! We shared a slice of Key Lime Pie for dessert. Big Fish Grill offers daily specials as well as a regular menu ranging from fish varieties to crab cakes, clams, and oysters and scallops.

Happy hour was very good. $ 5 apps and $ 2.75 beers. Decent liquor specials were $ 4.75. We tried the bruschetta, it was awesome. The tempura cauliflower with bacon queso and tilapia fingers were very good too. We weren’t so impressed with the entrees when we had them. They demand top notch prices but offer mid quality execution. Our oysters were shucked by an amateur.

What an experience! Was 15 minutes past my reservation & the hostess greeted me & gleamed a no worries smile & demeanor. She confirmed my patio preference, handed me off to the Seater, who sat me at a nice size table in view of the man made pier & waterfront. Then comes Charlie… the server of the year. He was so specific with the menus, yes there was two & he literally broke them down from appetizers, to the entrees, to the specials & sides. He was very proactive about the items of question for my consumption with returning promptly with the feedback. Charlie presented the wine & beer menu with ease, making it a quick selection for a bottle of my favorite Malbec… Alamos. I order the Smoked Salmon for my appetizer… very fresh & delicious. The 1st order had a condiment made out of dairy & mayonnaise. As quick as he sat it down, he picked it back up & had another one prepared for me. For my entrée I had the Caribbean Jerk Crusted Gulf Tuna with Papaya-Mango Salsa, on top of stir fry veggies & island rice… FANTASTIC taste! By far a great feast, phenomenal service & a nice outdoor ambiance. Still amazed that Charlie was new to the floor as he delivered great serving skills like a veteran. Wil-Town aka UofD… not bad!

Wow! The owner must have given up on this place! I use to talk about this restaurant all the time. As a chef and owner of my own place I am very picky and I liked the fact that the owners and management of Big Fish Grill were also perfectionists, but something has changed! Where so I start? The servers are very young and are obviously not trained well –The bartender had the drinks all confused(and there were only four of us). Then before you know it they were delivering our entrees and we were still waiting for our apps. To make matters worse — the entrée looked so horrible! Mashed potatoes enough to serve a family of four, same with the soggy fries and the fish was so poorly presented that I can’t believe I use to call this the best place for seafood in Wilmington. If you don’t care about service and you like lot of mashed potatoes then this place is for you. Last time for me

My New Favorite Happy Hour Spot! If you LOVESEAFOOD, GREATSERVICE, and EXCELLENTAPPPETIZERS look no further! Big Fish Grill is on the Wilmington Waterfront. Daily Happy Hour EVERYDAY from 4 to 7 during the week, 4 to 6 during the weekend. I Strongly Suggest the CAULIFLOWERFLORETS off the Appetizer menu. Also, The Lobster Nachos if you’ll be sharing with friends. The Pineapple Martini is Awesome, as well as ANYTHING on the Menu. You’ll be back, time again. They also have a Great Rewards system for frequent diners. My favorite routine is to order a Dozen Raw Oysters, Cauliflower Florets, and a Meal to share. The Kneves Potatoes are FANTASTIC, as well as the Creamed Spinach. Everything on the menu is great! Service is ALWAYSSPOTON! ENJOY!!! CHEFGARYCURRY

To celebrate Easter with my boyfriend’s family, we made reservations here for 7:30pm on Saturday night. I expected shore-style linoleum and plastic, so I was impressed by the classy interior. Rather than being tacky, the giant fish hanging from the ceiling really add to the décor. We only waited a few minutes, and then were promptly seated. The menu situation is odd — the«specials» are longer than the standard menu, and our table of 5 wasn’t even given enough menus, so we had to share(this made ordering drinks awkward). Our table was right by the bar, which was super loud, so conversation was also a bit difficult(at least until the college basketball fans began to filter out). Thankfully, my complaints stop there. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions of everything were huge. I went for the«Big Shrimp,» which had delicious grilled flavor and came with two large sides. Appetizers for the table, including calamari, tilapia fingers, and mussels, were all excellent. You could easily make a meal out of them, and my boyfriend’s parents said they often do. Haven’t been to the beach location, but after checking this out I definitely would!

We came to Big Fish Grill on a Thursday evening, with a party of seven. We had a reservation, but there were a few free seats available. Obviously, this place primarily serves seafood. However, the range of seafood offered is really quite wide. The prices here are good, and the amount you get for your money is quite decent. The atmosphere is a little loud, but it’s a lot of fun.
