Closed on Sunday.; darn. Was in Wilmington on my way to Dover and wanted to stop at a bike shop. Asked Google; found several shops; Brandywine was best rated. But when I hot there; Closed… Oh well…

Have been a loyal customer for over two years. This is a five star shop, but don’t want to get caught by the Unilocal police. The shop staff is very experienced. They are a relationship based shop. they won’t push you into the high end bikes since they know not everyone races. They will take the time to understand«why» you are riding and set you up with the right bike for the goal. Top notch for service… Matt and Chip can make recommendations on upgrades/repairs based on feedback that you give them. Margo is very knowledgeable in bikes and apparel… if you need that right piece of gear for the weather… you will be steered in the right direction.

I had a really bad experience a few months ago at Brandywine Cyclery. I came in with 2 kids to buy them bikes because I did not want to spend less but buy something horrible at Target or Walmart. So I arrived with 2 really excited kids and headed toward the smaller Specialized bikes. And waited. There was one woman in the front of the store talking to someone and we were the only others in the store… maybe 20 feet away. As we looked at the bikes and the ones they liked, I noticed(because we were so close) that the person she was talking to was asking about bike trails. No big deal — since they were not actually buying anything, this wouldn’t take long, right? Nope. After about 10 minutes I was a little annoyed that we still were not acknowledged. Even a wave, or a brief acknowledgement(again, we were the only ones in the store besides her and the trail rider). …15 minutes. …20 minutes(really) Even my stare toward her could not get her out of the conversation about local riding locales. Thank goodness a guy came from out of the back and approached us. I asked a few questions about the size of the bike for my 12 year old… but wasn’t sure he was really paying attention… and then he asked if I could wait a minutes while he briefly went to the back… umm, sure i guess. 10 minutes later, he did not return. Now 30 minutes in, we left. And still got no acknowledgement from the woman as we departed and walked within 10 feet of her departing. I hope she enjoyed the trail discussion with whomever(I’m not even sure who the guy was since he wasn’t browsing nor buying)…but we went to Bike Line on 202 for the exact opposite experience and spend a bunch of money on 2 bikes 30 minutes later.

Stopped in to get some tubes and some advice on buying a mountain bike. The service was excellent and even though I didn’t remember my wheel size they helped me figure out what I needed. I have been shopping at a larger bike store but the service here was way better. I will be back!

I’m only selecting 4 stars as Unilocal tends to filter out first time, five star reviews. This is definitely a five star shop! I think this is one of the best bike stores in the Tri-State area. It’s got the customer service level of a high end bicycle boutique without ever making you feel like you’re not«elite» enough to shop there(and they believe in sale pricing!) I’d called everywhere trying to find a bike for my Mom and within the first 10 seconds of talking with Steve on the phone I knew I’d found the place I wanted to work with. He was super knowledgable and even went so far as to check the manufacturer’s dealer web site for year end deals that he could pass on. When we went in the next day, Margo and Matt were in the store and Margo really helped my Mom feel comfortable with the sizing process and had such a great low pressure sales style.(And clearly knows EVERYTHING there is to know about the cycling world). The whole store was on sale so we ended up getting«Grannie» hooked up with an amazing fitness bike and kitted for style! Thank you Brandywine Cyclery!!!
