If i could give this place 100 stars i would!!! From the moment i walked in i felt so welcomed. Our waitress was so nice and very attentive. The bar tender came to the table and helped us come up with a nice drink when we couldnt decide on what to have, it was very personable and she had an excellent knowledge of their beer and wine. The chef sergio came out and greeted our table which i had never seen befor in any restaurants. A quick chat and he was on his way but it made us feel ‘vip’. the food we had was very tasty and the portion was great especially for the price. Top notch food that isnt going to leave us broke but will leave us happy!!! I will absolulty be returning here. Just wish they were open on sundays.

Ate here for my daughters rehearsal dinner. Absolutely great Italian food. Tortellini with crab was delicious and mixed green salad was large and very good dressing. Home made taramasu was the best I’ve had. Atmosphere is very upscale.

!!! WARNING !!! DONOTGOTOTHISRESTAURANT! My company resides in the corporate housing above this establishment and frequents Café Mezz often. We just learned the bar staff is adding $$ to their tips after our credit cards are swiped. Several fraud reports have been filed with the bank and a police report us being filed with the Wilmington DE Police Department.

I work in the area and we eat here often. The food is ok, and I can actually recommend the Burrata Caprese. Service in the dining area is slow, but courteous. The reason for my one star review is LESLIE, the bar tender. I’ve had three terrible experiences with her. 1.) I came to the bar, where 6 or so guests were sipping mixed drinks and beer. I ordered a bottled beer. The bar tender went to get my beer, noticed she was out, and went for a second beer. At that point, she clearly forgot what she was doing, and proceeded to exchange and clean out a tapped keg. I was standing there still waiting for my drink. Only after the keg was exchanged, and several other people put in drink orders did she remember my drink and return with my bottle. 2.) I came to meet a group of co-workers who were sitting at a small corner bar table. I could see from their looks that they were pissed. Several drinks and small food items were ordered, and better than 45 minutes later, nobody had a drink or food. Most of them walked out without getting their drinks. One of my co-workers who joined after I arrived asked the bar tender for a drink, and was told BYTHEBARTENDER, that she’d advise against it since it’ll take forever anyway. 3.) Final straw. I again joined a group of co-workers who were sitting at a table in the corner of the primarily deserted bar. They had ordered appetizers and various drinks, and various drinks and were almost done with their meal. After several unsuccessful attempts, i flagged down Leslie and ordered a drink and a cold appetizer. I hadn’t even finished my meal yet, when Leslie came to the table, clearly angry, and demanded to know if she had done something wrong, since the tips she was receiving were unacceptable that evening.(I’m not really sure how ANY tip is unacceptable. .. tips are paid for service, not for bad attitude.) In any case, this somehow escalated into a shouting match, and several people, including Leslie stormed off in various directions. The rest of us finished our meals and paid. All the while having to listen to Leslie continue to whine about tipping while she was standing there holding our credit cards hostage. In response to the unprofessional tirade, several of my co-workers elected not to leave tips. People checked their credit card statements the following day and found that Leslie had added 20% tips to their bills anyway. UNBELIEVABLE. Before you ask, Mezzanotte does not have a mandatory tip policy for large tables. I know for a fact that the co-worker in question didn’t leave a tip, because Leslie loudly and dramatically held up her receipt which didn’t have a tip on it, and complained to the table. Now i could be wrong, but I was under the impression that forging tips on credit card receipts was fraud.. ..

I went to the restaurant with co-workers for lunch. The wait staff was attentive to our party of six during which time there were two other tables of guests in the whole restaurant. The atmosphere certainly had the fine dining vibe. For instance, upon seating, the waiter moved the napkins from the table to each of our respective laps. I was very underwhelmed by the quality of the Italian bread served while we looked at our menus. Although it was complimentary, it did not cause my pallet to become very inviting for the meal. I ordered the crepes and was delighted when I saw my dish arrive since it looked hearty and full of flavor. When I dug in, I quickly noticed how abaolutely bland the rose sauce, that covered the whole dish, tasted. Yes, it was creamy; however, it majorly lacked seasoning and flavor. Once I accepted the disappointment in the sauce, I eventually came to realize that what was under the sauce was actually very tasty: the crepes, themselves. The crepes were thicker than a typical crêpe, and the chicken and vegetables within were cooked to perfection. The consistency was spot on: crispier on the outside and moist inside. It is a shame the dominating, bland sauce did not match the quality of the actual crepes, otherwise my rating would have been significantly higher. Overall, I consider this place average, but would consider giving them another chance primarily because their service was good and prices were reasonable.

I went here today on my lunch break, my coworker loved it and raved about the penne and sausage pasta so I thought I’d give it a try. I had the crepes and my coworker had the penne and sausage dish. All in all it was a pretty solid meal, nothing to write home about but no real complaints either. I probably won’t be back but I’m glad I tried it.

Excellent food and great unique cocktails. The pork chop parmagiani was fabulous. And HUGE!!! Clearly authentic Italian as I sat near the chef/owner at the bar listening to him discuss the menu and Italy. Molto bene…

You don’t want to go here. Food is really of no quality. Service was okay. My dish was cold and the taste was very much so as if it was prefab food. Too bad. It is really easy to do better than this.

Total disappointment. The food was horrible and the menu needs a major update. I’ve had better Italian food in a pizzeria. I gave it one star only because the waitress was friendly and I only had to walk one block from my hotel.

Don’t do it. I had the special. yuck! Went back with a coworker because someone else told me I made the wrong dinner choice and to stick with pizza and pasta. Ok. My coworker had the burger and fries and I had the Margharita pizza to go. Pizza was just ok and coworker said burger was ok but didn’t try the fries due to the extra condiment(hair) residing there. Skip it…

Not great. Very standard Italian menu — nothing you haven’t seen many times before. Service was really lacking — not all of our table’s entrees came out together, it took 30 minutes between salads and entrees, lemonade poured instead of water, etc. There are better options.

Grabbed a quick lunch here with a co worker before a meeting and was a little concerened at first after reading about the slow service. That being said, I compensated by asking for things in advance and kept the service moving along just fine. The waiter was very content to oblige and we had no issue at all. I had the salmon topped salad and it was great actually. The warmth of the fish combined with the cool salad is one of my favorite textures and they did a good job on both.

We went last Friday before seeing Holidaze at the duPont. It was very crowded, service was slow. Maybe I was starving when the food finally arrived. It was pretty good. Need to go back at a better time to try again…

There were a total of 10 people in our party and so as busy as the restaurant was it was good that we had made the reservations. We were greeted at the door and promptly shown to our table where half of our party was already seated. No drink orders had been place as of that minute and we were just in time for the waiter to stop by the table to introduce himself. After reciting the bottled only beer list from a very shaky memory and asking the table if we knew whether Bass Ale was an import or not, the mood for the dinner was set and I braced myself for the worst. The waiter’s ineptitude was laughable at first and I took pity on his ignorance and so when I asked for the wine list I didn’t even bother to try and get his opinion. The list is medium sized and offers a decent selection of about 40 or so wines. No problem, and nice bottle of Montepulciano D’Arbuzzo should be a nice treat for the table right? WRONG, they were all out. No problem, stuff like that happens, how about a bottle of the J Lohr Petit Sirah? Nope strike two, all out, but the waiter in his attempt to be helpful notes that he has 80 bottles of the J Lohr Syrah, is that close enough? NO, no it is not. Last try how about the Catena Malbec? Now I know what you are thinking, why would I order the Argentinian wine that I just said had no place being offered right? Well I figure that NOONE would order that wine for almost $ 50 a bottle in an ITALIAN restaurant so I had a good chance of it being available and at this point I wanted to catch a buzz before being gastronomically abused by what ever culinary horrors surely awaited me. NOPE no Catena Malbec either. I settle for three ice teas for those of us waiting for our wine and let it be. I ordered a cheese plate for $ 12 and my father ordered the Eggplant Rollatini for $ 10. The apps took about 15 minutes to arrive and when they did they were served with a complimentary helping of utter disappointment. My father’s eggplant dish was a sad pair of two thin eggplant slices wrapped around overcooked and under-seasoned spinach that was drowned in the most boring looking tomato sauce these eyes have seen out side of a pizza shop. The cheese plate was serving three different unidentified cheeses in ½ oz portions with some fig jam, out of season strawberries, and a couple sorry looking pitted kalamata olives, but hey the Toll House crackers were a nice touch. The cheese was room temperature and sweating and looked about as appetizing as most slices of Kraft American that you used to find in your lunch box as a kid. It wasn’t until 8:00 that our entrees were served, mind you I was in my seat at 6:30 on the dot. My wife ordered the Ravioli Autunno, advertised as a pumpkin ravioli and a butternut squash ravioli topped with a brandy cream sauce for $ 17. I had a $ 23 ciopinno, my Grandmother ordered the Veal Parmigiana as well as my aunt and cousin for $ 22, my father got the Ravioli San Angelo for $ 19, and my mother got the chicken Marsala for $ 17. Two other entrees were ordered but I was at the wrong end of the table to see what. Starting from the top. My wife’s ravioli were cold when they reached the table as were my fathers. The portion was laughable, as in, my wife received 6 ravioli and my father only 4, but both were served with a heap of that same nasty over cooked and under-seasoned spinach. My wife’s sauce was broken and both plates were laughable at best. The raviolis were sent back to the kitchen because they were not hot and when the waiter returned he said that they put the plates in the oven to heat the food up to the proper temperature. My wife took a bite and promptly burned her tongue on the now molten hot interior, forgetting that some people still refer to them as microwave OVENS, and they cook from the inside out. Unable to taste or enjoy her meager portion of culinary hell she quickly and quietly ate without pleasure hoping to bring this nightmare to a speedy conclusion. The Ciopinno, a dish that is not even REMOTELY Italian was awful. The alleged«day boat fish tips» the menu promised were to my mind frozen pollack, dry and flavorless a real trick when you are serving fish in a BROTH. The broth had not of the aromatic anise or sweet spice notes that come from utilizing a fish broth with tomatoes, fennel, and saffron as is traditional, rather it was salty and acrid. This was no delicate fume, but rather a hacks attempt at faking out the largely geriatric clientele with a yellowish chicken broth that had overcooked seafood floating in it. There is more to say but Unilocal only allows 5001 characters and the review keeps getting cut off.

Café Mezzanotte is a restaurant that seems like things have gone wrong for them, and upon tasting the food, it is easy to see why. After entering a sparsely populated, vast dining room, customers are presented with stale bread and vinaigrette with something to prove, appetizers that have been dragged through a salt mine, fish that has frozen too long, meats with grades from the later part of the alphabet, vegetables that have gone stale, and desserts that are obviously store-bought, all with a healthy test of patience. Stick to ordering the specials, because it’s obviously not the regular items that draw people back to Café Mezzanotte.

You can hardly call yourself a «fine dining restaurant» when you have neon vodka signs in the window. Here’s the thing, the pasta was good. Really, really good. Everything else just sorta fell flat for me. The musician was a little corny, but talented and friendly. The bread was probably thawed out that morning. The menu was good, but not great.
