Etc & Sew Forth

I’m giving them an additional star because she was the only place that could do my wedding dress on short notice. Otherwise it would be one.
To start, she was really rude when I came in, it was around 4, so maybe I was too close to closing time which was still 2 hours away, I don’t know. I needed my dress majorly hemmed and let out. She started with the letting out, which came out beautifully but the hemming wasn’t done till the afternoon before we were leaving town for my wedding so I had no time to check it out. I grabbed it and headed out of town to Charlotte.
That night I tried it on for my Mother in Law to discover it was still over 6 inches too long. We drove to every shoe store in Charlotte the next day trying to find shoes tall enough that I could still walk in with no success. I spent the morning of my wedding trying to tape hem the front of my dress so I wouldn’t trip all over myself. I was having panic attacks that it would come undone and I would fall on my face in front of everyone. Because it took so long I was late to get my hair and make up done and we didn’t have time to take bridal party pictures before the wedding so I only have about 4 bridesmaid photos we managed to squeeze in during the after wedding pictures. My dress looked horrible and I was really upset. Everyone told me to ask for my money back, but I hate confrontation so I just dealt with it.

This seamstress definitely needs to work on her people skills, and her alterations aren’t really up to par either :-/​I used her about half a dozen times over the past couple of years; nothing ever improved. She also misplaced an expensive item of mine and acted like she didn’t care at all.
There are other and better sewing shops out there. keep looking :-)!

Been going here for 25+ years, since Wrightsville. Ave, and they’ve always provided good service.

I have been using Etc. and Sew Forth for many years and never have had a problem with them. They are prompt, do a very nice job, and are very reasonably priced.
