Situated right on 4th, The G&C has quickly become our little go to spot once a week. Adorable little local pub with a TON of craft beer selections and extremely friendly service. The best part about this place is the huge back patio area with lots of leafy trees and twinkle lights to give it a cozy atmosphere. There’s a porch swing and picnic tables and a Cornhole area. If you are from the north like I am, then you have probably never heard of it either but it’s big here and is, as I’ve discovered, pretty fun. Every time we go on a Friday or Saturday there is always live music. I am actually pretty surprised that this place isn’t ever very crowded from what I’ve seen. It’s a great little spot and off the main beaten path of downtown but really worth the trip over. Check it out. (Oh, it’s pet friendly too which is super cool. Don’t be surprised to see a little cutie with four legs in the seat next to you)

I’ve been here many times and have always enjoyed myself. Good bartenders, casual atmosphere, good drinks(excellent bloody Mary’s that include a slim Jim) and a nice outdoor area. They have parking and will give you a pass to leave your car if needed. And it’s in the lovely Brooklyn arts district. It’s a dive-y bar which is my personal favorite.

Looking for a family and dog friendly dive bar? Check out Goat & Compass! It is conveniently located in the brooklyn arts district which means less crowds and easy parking(they have their own lot!). #BAD doesn’t even begin to describe this hidden gem. The inside is small but has seating at the bar and a large booth area that doubles as a stage for live music and open mic nights. Often times they will also have a food truck parked outside. Yes the service is wonderful however my favorite part about this bar is the back patio and the regular patrons. The back is open, with a swing, multiple picnic tables, heaters for the winter and a large tv to catch the game. This is my go to bar for a doggy play date because the back area is fenced. Tonight my wife ordered a bloody mary which was made to her preference with zing zang. She said it was perfect. I got a bottle of the torch pilsner because I wanted to try a different NC beer. The bartender was also very polite when I accidentally forgot to give a card to start a tab. If you haven’t come here for a beer or a cocktail yet give it a try! You will be back just like all the other regulars and everyone will know your name ;)

Awesome. Absolutely awesome. Off street parking makes it easy to enjoy the downtown atmosphere without the hassle. Beautiful courtyard in the back where you can enjoy the swing, picnic tables, and cornhole games. You can participate in cornhole tournaments, watch your favorite sports games, and enjoy live music all in one location. They contribute to the community in outstanding ways, frequently hosting fundraisers for local organizations. The bartenders are friendly and very attentive. It’s also dog friendly for those of you who enjoy taking their best friend along.

We just moved downtown Wilmington. The Goat is our new living room! We love it! Dogs are allowed and great craft beer on draft.

My credit card number was stolen. The only person who had it was the bartender. I paid cash everywhere else that day. The next day, unauthorized charges appeared in my bank account. I’m not going back to this den of thieves. Update – someone contacted me in an attempt to rectify, and I appreciate the effort. +2 stars

Friendly atmosphere, can get a little crowded when there is live music. Great specials every day of the week! Dog friendly, and they have the absolute best Bloody Mary downtown. The bar staff is also very up to par. Sweet beer garden out back with cornhole and tv.

I had the pleasure of having a yoga and wine tasting at the Goat and Compass Bar. We did the yoga with Amy at Fitness Motivation Center across the street and did the wine tasting at the bar for $ 5. It was fantastic, fun, and a tasteful delight. We tasted four wines. The bartender Jason gave us ample amounts and great service. He made the best caramel apple martini I have ever tasted! The owners, Brian & Delyn Fritz and Scott and Melissa Wagner were there and provided a friendly atmosphere at the bar. Scott told me that they have 60 different kinds of beers available and they have a wide variety of liquors. This is a must see old dive bar that use to be a church and fruit stand. A hidden gem in downtown Wilmington!

New to town. This is definitely my favorite bar in Wilmington so far. Friendly bartenders, good selection of beers(the Guiness tap made me particularly happy), laid back atmosphere. The bartender was nice enough to put the Seahawks game on one TV and Breaking Bad on the other. Down right hospitable.

The Goat and Compass is the neighborhood bar for the«Brooklyn Arts District.» Real Estate agents call it the«Brooklyn Arts District», other people call it «NoFo», I call it the expensive part of the ‘hood. same difference. Regardless, this is a fine place to go have a beer, especially on NFL sundays. One of many bars in Wilmington where the«Good people» go drink.
