Hayden’s Crossing – Blind Mule Bar

I’ve been here a few times, and I’ve never been very impressed. They offer basic American cuisine (burgers, steak, chicken, etc.) which I love, but the execution is a little lacking. In addition, the seating could be more comfortable and the noise level is a bit too much for me. They aren’t awful, but there are definitely better options in town.

Ive been here lots of times, more than 20. Rustic-​y vibe. Ribeye, blue cheese steak salad, and fish &chips are my favorites. All the food is delicious! The only problem ive ever had here is that whoever is working the bar does NOT know how to makes cocktails! I got a cosmo twice and both times it was dark red with juice &awful. Cosmos are suppose to be very light colored. &their margaritas always have celery salt on the rim. which is for bloody marys. and tastes gross with a margarita. If they gave their bartenders some training i would give this place 5stars. But damn it pisses me off that the bar can’t make a drink!!!

Great hamburgers and steaks in a 150 year old, haunted bar. On Water street and Rt 53 (Baltimore St).

A Amazing atmosphere and kind staff, this place definitely sets my 5 stars!, i had the delmonico steak, it was the best steak of my life! It was perfect! l definitely will come back.

Was just passing through town and found this place via Unilocal.I was not disappointed.
Lasagna soup was outstanding. Prime rib was really, really good for $ 20 and wife’s pot roast was right on point.
Service was very good as well. I’ll definitely be back for more. This place is a tremendous value

Needed to add, out of 3 of the beers that we tried to order. Lot to be desired here. Service was poor, server never checked back. Burger was ordered medium and was well done. Just want to leave but waiting for check. Will definitely look elsewhere for dining on Wilmington

Had the cod Po’boy and onion rings and they were super yummy. Fish was fried perfectly and had lots of flavor.
Only down side for me was the booth was incredibly low so it felt like I was eating off my lap lol
Service was good and was a very nice experience

The fries were excellent… sadly, our server, Josh and the rest of our order were sorely lacking. Had to hunt down Josh several times to get assistance. At the end of our meal (we were there almost 2 hours because of how slow everything was), Josh took our credit card to pay for our order, and set it down on an unattended counter and there it sat until I went and reclaimed it. Probably won’t be venturing back too soon.

Back in the day Hayden’s was the first place to open in Wilmington that was actually good food. It had a smaller menu consisting of burgers and ribeye sandwiches. In addition, there would usually be a weekly special worth trying out. There’s been a lot of changes over the years, including the quality of the food (for the worse unfortunately), but if I happen to go in again I’m going to order what I’ve gotten since day one: the black & bleu burger. I know it’s good, so I’m not going to bother with anything else.

Hayden’s is a nicer place, especially for this area. I’ve had the fish fry and pub melt and I haven’t been disappointed. Food is very good and the service is prompt. It seems like they had a limited selection of speciality drinks. It might be more of a beer crowd anyway. It is a small place so it can fill up during peak hours so I’ll avoid it then.

It’s food. That’s it. Our hunger pains are gone, but my family of 4 left feeling unsatisfied.
Alfredo– over cooked noodles, extremely small portion for the price. Just blah with a side of Walmart Texas toast.
Blue Burger– average. Side of onion rings consisted of only 4.
Chicken — dry — blah
Salad — came right out of plastic bag with 1 cherry tomato and 2 onions.
The place was cold, boring.
Nobody greeted us or said bye.
Charged us for a drink that should have come with the kids meal.
I wish I would have traveled north and for the same price, received food that made me satisfied and happy.
And cocktails should come with a garnish.

When we walked in, there was a fog of kitchen smoke, and I asked one of the workers if they could turn on the ceiling fans… she said they were broken?!
ALL 6 OF THEM??!
We both had a cup of the loaded baked potato soup. it was very good. And we both had a pub melt. I had mine with onion rings, and hubby had Cole slaw, which he said was one of the best he’s ever had.
After our server, Jen, brought out our food, she decided to sit with a couple of guys in a booth! How unprofessional is that?! You can’t wait until you’re off duty to socialize??! Actually, she was sitting down with them quite a bit, in between orders…
I told my husband, he should have left her $ 2., but he gave her 20%.
This place is in desperate need of a paint job & bathroom remodeling! Stall doors are like, the size of a grade school bathroom. My husband said, that the ceiling in the men’s room still hasn’t been repaired for the 3 years we’ve been coming here.
You know… take care of your property, or sell it!

Great atmosphere, menu has many choices of entrees and sides. I had a pub melt that had some killer garlic mayo. Our waitress very helpful and polite. If ever back in the area will definitely return.

Cozy, roomy, rustic… friendly attentive wait staff… ample parking… plus a awesome goat cheese burger with fries and a big cup of brewed ice tea turned my ok day into a great day.

Great Thai chile glaze wings! The stuffed pepper soup was yummy and so were the fries I snuck from my kids meal!

Very over priced, slow service. When complained to Manager she says nothing but «ok», & nothing else. Steaks are not as good as they used to be.

St. Pat Specials awesome and unique. Shepherds pie, Rueben Rolls, Split Pea tastebud paradise.

Went here for a surprise party and all I have to say is this place has really gone down hill. It took 20 minutes to get a beer when there were about 10 people in the bar. Bartenders were rude and had no idea what they were doing. I’ll never visit this establishment again.

I brought in my team for a retirement luncheon. We hit the door shortly after 11:00 am, and it’s a good thing — by the time we left, the place was packed.
We ordered a bunch of appetizers, and everyone liked them. The salsa for the chips was pretty hot.
The orders for the lunch ranged from a steak to a bunch of burgers. Everyone liked what they got, and the food was served hot and cooked to the requested temperature.
The service was polite and prompt — drinks were kept filled, as was the water. No issues, no complaints, and good service /​food.

I went to write a second review for Hayden’s when I noticed I didn’t finish the first one from when we where there in July 2013.
We took a motorcycle ride and was heading through Wilmington when we where getting hungry. After stopping to get a photo by the Gemini Giant I searched Unilocal and found Hayden’s.
We parked on the road but it looks like there is parking in the back. We got there around 2:00 and the lunch crowd was just clearing out and had to wait for a table to be cleared. But that gave us time to check out the the cool décor. Very cool old building. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We split the house burger and it was big enough to share and very tasty. We substituted onion rings for the fries and they where as good as I have ever had.
We ride out this way a lot and am look forward to coming back.
For the meal we shared I would give 5 stars.
Today (early November) we went back with our daughter. We kept telling her how great out first time was.
We had a good waitress. That was the best thing. When we walking in the back door there was a bad sewer smell. Is wasn’t as bad in the dining room but it was still there a little.
I had the house burger medium. Wife had fish and chips. Daughter had fettuccine. Everything was just meh, at best. The burger was more rare than I like eating out. It was closer to rare than medium rare and i ordered it medium. It was okay but nothing that great. I got the wedges and didn’t care for them, for some reason my wife got them with her fish and chips. She didn’t like them either. They were like mashed potatoes inside. Real mushy. The fish was okay, but my wife said she wouldn’t get it again. The fettuccine had no flavor. The bread was good though.
If this was my first time here I would just give it 1 star. I’m giving 3 stars because of the great meal we had the first time.
