We have been coming here for years and are always very happy we did. We had the pleasure of being helped by Daysi and she was absolutely wonderful. We were each extremely pleased with our meals as well. Thank you for always being great, and good luck to the new owners!

This place does not make authentic Mexican food. Service is good … But coming from a real Mexican, their most basic foods are not good. The rice dosent taste like anything, the beans taste canned and the food dosent seem fresh either … Eh I wouldn’t eat here again …

I was just here recently and honestly, LOVE their tacos; the burritos too. A++ You should definitely try them if you stop by, and you should stop by :)

Consistency is key with me and this place has been just that. Every single time we’ve ordered their food has been the same. Yummy, flavorful, and affordable. This is just one of those places you can’t go wrong with while looking for a place to grub!

My much anticipated first visit to Jalapeño. Our server was the only person working on the floor had 6 tables, bar patrons and hopefully a pedometer. 5:45 on a Sunday, and one server/tender doesn’t make much sense but maybe this was an off Sunday. Started off with the jalapeño queso and chile relleno. Queso was extra thin but had solid flavor, not worth $ 6 for a cup though. The relleno was super disappointing. It was smothered in a mama Italiana marinara. Seriously, this dish was overwhelmed by the sauce and oregano. Pepper nor cheese had much flavor and due to the sauce party, it was entirely mushy. No bueno! My date ordered the veggie fajitas with a mushroom taco, and for me, the chicken enchiladas. The chicken was super dry, flavorless and served with such a small amount of tomatillo sauce. Asking for more, I was unexpectedly charged. The veggie fajitas were not the typical fajita style. No sizzle when served, the veggies almost looked steamed. Not much flavor, we had to ask for the sour cream, cheese and lettuce. This is a standard, no? The shredded cheese had been sitting out for quite some time as it was rubbery. We both enjoyed the rice though! Fluffy and flavorful, this sadly was the best part of the meal. The mushroom taco(canned mushrooms) were… lets just say… canned mushrooms. Needless to say, our meal left much to be desired. Sorry Jalapeño, although your rice game is strong, we left with bellies full of disappointment.

I really don’t see what the hype is about this place. I’ve had better tacos from other places in the area. The waitress also messed up our orders. I don’t know if she didn’t understand us or what?

Just great. The tacos were awesome. Make sure to order some fried scallions with any meal. Very authentic food.

I don’t understand the great reviews. I had the empanadas mixtas. They were really just ehhh. I didn’t think the taste was very authentic and the tomato sauce tasted like it came from a can. Did I go on a bad night or something?

We’ve been coming to this restaurant since before it was Jalepeno Grill. We LOVE it! I normally get the fish tacos and my boyfriend gets a mixture of beef and chicken tacos. Everything is fresh and well cooked. The place is clean and the one server has been there for years and always recognizes us and makes us feel at home. The only thing I would change is adding parking which I’m sure they can’t do because it’s the city. You can park across the street in the AutoZone as long as you don’t park in the parking spaces in the front(park off to the sides). I highly recommend!

The food was great— in fact really really good! Service horrible. We had a private party of 20 people and they had 1 server covering all of us. We actually wrote our order down on a piece of paper and have it to the waiter. I think it would be fine with a smaller group.

Great authentic Mexican food! Deliciously prepared entrees make you feel like you’ve teleported south of the border. Always attentive service from our waiter Tino makes this a fun and tasty stop for lunch or dinner. The salsas are made fresh every day and the staff welcomes you in like family. If you’re looking for the real deal look no further. My personal recommendation is the fish tacos! Awesome!

If you liked the old Tijuana Taco you need to go to Margarita Grill: Same great food, same owners, same cooks. This is just the same person who owns the building.

I decided to check them out for dinner. It was an off time to eat so there weren’t too many other customers. The staff were friendly, their salsa and(virgin) margaritas are yumtastic. Honestly, I haven’t been too impressed by their food though. I mean it’s good, don’t get me wrong, but not enough to drive out of the way to go there. It’s sort of bland. If I am in the area I would stop by again.

Don’t let the area/neighborhood fool you– Jalapeño Grill is a keeper! From the outside, it looks like a small little hole in the wall, but the inside is extremely clean and updated. The lighting is great and the booths are newly constructed. It’s a cozy lil place at best! Their chips & salsas are so good, they had 3 different heats of salsa– and they were outstanding! We also got the happy hour margaritas, which were quite tasty too and served in the cutest little mason jars… yes, mason jars at a Mexican restaurant… I *loved* it! I had three different kinds of tacos– carne asada, pollo, and some kind of pork. Sara got the Baja fish tacos… those were weird because it was like they were little frozen fish patties… so strange. I hope this lil place makes it in Wilmington, because it’s really cute & quite tasty :)

Mexican restaurant with an authentic feel. The fish tacos are delicious! Also love the chips and salsa that they serve while you wait for the food. I thought the chicken salad(besides the chicken itself, which was marinated in a great sauce) was a little blend — I will stick with the tacos!

If you liked Tijuana Taco — go! Same management! Food is still the same. Love the smokey salsa they give you with the chips. Try the tongue tacos! my fav are the chili rellenos.

Sketchy location that makes me scared when I don’t get a good parking spot and have to walk to my car alone… but very good food. Yummy tacos and margaritas. The fish tacos are really good. Can’t beat the prices and very friendly staff.

Nicely priced place to go with a group for Mexican food. Food was a little on the dry side and the waitress didn’t pay attention to the chips and salsa so we kept running out.

This is a real authentic Mexican restaurant with some southern Cali Mexican inspired dishes such as, carne asada fries, and cali style potato burritos. The chips and salsa are really good. They brought me out three different salsa with different levels of hotness. I am strictly rating this place on the food. If your looking for the gringo Americanize south of the border restaurant, walk the other way. Its a mom and pop operation and I like the place.
