I’ve never understood why in the«hospitality industry» there is so often such poor hospitality(i.e., customer service). Well, in this case I am happy to report that the customer service I received couldn’t have been better. My daughter is a freshman at UNC-Wilmington, so I made plans to come down for the weekend to visit her. I got a good deal on a website but the rate was prepaid and non-refundable. So when my plans changed and I couldn’t make it I thought I was out $ 150. In comes hotel manager Matthew and assistant manager Steven to save the day. They got me a refund on my non-refundable room and I will be happy to use that money to stay at the Jameson Inn next time I head to Wilmington to visit my daughter.

This hotel had the worst service ever. We stayed 3 nights. The first day, we got there and unpacked. After returning for the evening, we found that the ac made a horrible racket. We had to repack and move rooms. Next day, we returned about 3pm, to find our room hadn’t been cleaned. We requested it be cleaned that evening. It wasn’t. We had to go get towels, were told to change our own sheets, get toilet paper and cups. That morning, my husband went down to eat breakfast(which is not good) and the manager was training someone, telling her, «You have to watch out for these guests. They just make a mess everywhere. You have to watch them close and follow them around to clean up after them.» My husband told home he could hear his comments, and he didn’t care. There was also a roach in the ironing board. And other guests mentioned roaches as well. I guess that’s what you get when you clean a room once in 3 days. No wonder it was so cheap on Priceline. Don’t go here if you’re looking for service of any kind.

I paid around $ 100 for a one night stay that I booked on . Like others have implied, it’s a pretty standard, no frills hotel. The rooms are clean and it’s pretty nice that there’s a microwave and a mini fridge available tucked in the cabinets. The bathroom is a little cramped, consisting of just a toilet and a bathtub/shower while the sink and mirror are out in the open in the bed area. The bed is a little firmer than anticipated and there were like maybe 30 channels on the TV. Nevertheless, it’s cool that this hotel allows pets(with a fee) and there’s a quick continental breakfast in the mornings with cold and hot cereal, yogurt, make your own waffle, and orange and apple juice. Overall, it’s a satisfactory place to crash after playing on the beach.

I read the other reviews, and to be honest I think either this hotel has improved recently, or the other reviewers weren’t taking into consideration the price they paid and the comparable hotels in the area. Like others I got the hotel from Hotwire, and I only paid a bit over $ 50. Other crappy hotels were charging $ 120 for smoking rooms(that was the only thing left). Wilmington has a huge lack of nice and reasonably priced hotels. They have an abundance of disgusting hotels that charge around $ 100 though, so to find some place that is clean and charges less than $ 100 makes me happy. Just keep in mind if you book through a place like Priceline, they will more than likely put you in a smoking room, you need to call and change that, and they say they charge a $ 15 upgrade fee, but I didn’t get charged that. Also, they charge extra if you have a pet, I think that is $ 15 as well. They have a breakfast included in the price, but it’s the standard cereal, yogurt, and waffle type deal. And they only have one waffle maker, so if you want one be prepared to wait, and wait some more. The only real complaint I have about the hotel is the beds are kind of hard and not the most comfortable, but other than that it was a great option amongst the other hotels in the area.

Accommodations were clean, spacious, beds slept really well, and everything was in working order. I was very satisfied with these accommodations. I also felt that the price was wonderful. I had family staying at a hotel a few doors down. I stayed at this hotel because it was pet friendly and the other one was not. When family came to see me at my place, they were astounded at how much larger and nicer the rooms were. Lane checked me in and made sure that I had everything I needed for my three day stay there for my son’s wedding. I had my small dog with me, and it was her first stay in a hotel. I booked a room close to the front desk, and let Lane know when I was going to be out for the evening for wedding rehearsal, etc. I made sure he had my cell phone number in case she made any noise, he promised he would look out for her and call me if anything came up. She was fine, it was a great stay, and I can’t say enough about the peace of mind knowing we wouldn’t be kicked out if she made a little noise or if we had a problem. If I ever have to find a place to stay in Wilmington again, the Jamison Inn will be my first choice. Also, hats off and many thanks to Lane!

My first stay at this Jameson Inns location was a little over 2 years ago – before America’s Best Franchise was on the scene. That visit was completely up to par and exceeded my expectations, so we decided to try it again. Much different experience this time. The mattresses are very cheap quality, not much padding. It felt more like we were sleeping on a box spring. The bedding was worn and the pillows were lumpy. We saw a lot of deferred maintenance in the room. Complimentary breakfast was not healthy – no protein aside from the Yoplait yogurt, which is still laden with sugars. The grounds are kept nicely. Front desk was very accommodating. Not the worst place, but for $ 100 I expected better.

I stayed here as I was on business in the area and didn’t manage to get out of the city on time. It was, literally, the last place available and I won’t be staying there again. Aside from the strong smell of marijuana coming from most rooms in the hotel, it was generally pretty crappy. No one was ever at the front desk, either. They were usually smoking out front. The area was okay, though.

Bottom line — I got what I paid for, and what I expected. I had a one-night stay in the area on personal business, and I was looking to minimize my personal expenses while not staying in a dirty hole in the wall or get mugged in the parking lot. Success! The hotel is located in a decent neighborhood, near restaurants and a Target. The desk staff were friendly, and check-in/out was efficient. The room itself was fine — a little run-down, but clean enough, and reasonably spacious. Had a little coffee maker, fridge, and microwave too, with a large TV. There is a continental breakfast but I did not personally check out. Downsides — the free internet had limited bandwidth, so if that is critical for you would reconsider. Also I could hear voices from the room next door pretty well(thin walls), but not so much it disturbed me. Overall I was satisfied with the value for my money — total night with taxes right at $ 100. I would stay here again.
