Do not eat here if you’re looking for quality Asian food OR good service. Our experience there wasn’t a good one from start to end. Our waitress was extremely rude, had messy hair and smelled of cigarettes. She brought us waters and the cups were soaking wet but she put them on the table and walked away, leaving our table with a puddle of water on it. She then went and texted for a few minutes at the POS/cash register and another waitress had to get us straws when we started looking around for our waitress. This inadequacy continued throughout the meal. The food– the vegetable gyoza was good but very greasy. The Miso soup was warm, grainy, and odd. My brother said the tofu felt like chalk. My entrée was disgusting. I ordered grilled teriyaki tofu/veggies and it was disappointing to say the least. There was a random piece of hard bell pepper in the middle of my food? The tofu was unseasoned, didn’t even look COOKED and just had sauce slathered over the top. The rice was dead cold and barely warm in the middle. Pretty sure the rice wasn’t even sticky rice meant for sides, just some sushi rice put in a bowl. My friend’s sushi roll was okay but tasted a little funky, and wasn’t worth $ 11 in my opinion.

Went back awhile ago with a group of eight for a friends birthday and everything ran very smoothly. Service is fixed and our waitress was very well versed on the menu. Good specials that night had everyone sharing appetizers. The apps and dinner were back on par with what I’ve come to expect from Nikki’s. Happy to update my old review and say it was a great experience and will be back.

We were visiting Wilmington, and our friends suggested dinner at Nikki’s. The environment is low key and casual. We found a table and were immediately approached by our server. We started with edamame. It was very nicely seasoned compared to other edamame that I have had. My husband and I ordered three rolls to share. Delicious! Hanging with good friends and having good sushi makes for a wonderful night!

So we stopped in on 4 July and had some sushi it was awesome. I would be glad to stop back by in the near future. I would recommend if you are downtown Wilmington that you stop in for some of the great sushi they have to offer.

I agree with others noticing the decline of Nikki’s downtown. Until now it was my favorite sushi destination between DC and NC. But the last 3 times my favorite Super Crunch Roll was not as I am accustomed. They are using a different panko or technique, taking it from extraordinary to nothing special at all. In addition, the plum wine I always get is a better, pricier brand, when I ordered recently it did not taste as good. When I looked up and saw the stacked bottles I noticed that they were shelving a cheaper variety. The girls that work there are great, I am sorry they have to be subjected to dissatisfied customers, disappointed their old Nikki’s is no longer the best sushi place in Wilmington.

I have been eating at Nikki’s since it opened downtown years ago. The past couple years the quantity and quality has continued to fall off. I ate there tonight and decided that was it. The eel roll and the California roll was the diameter of a nickel. The spider roll was more lettuce than crab and chewy. I’m moving on. There are many other sushi restaurants in Wilmington that have surpassed Nikki’s. Head down the street to Sunny’s, you won’t be disappointed.

Not that great. Tuna roll was soso but salmon was good. I think it’s not real sushi. I kow it because I’m Japanese.

Three of us stopped by Nikki’s for lunch. The table ordered a Dinosaur(Tina, eel, flying fish roe and scallion and deep fried), Goldfish(tempura red snapper, cucumber and crab topped with pepper seared salmon, eel sauce and sriracha), Vanilla Gorilla(yellowtail, cream cheese, jalapeño, cucumber and fish roe and deep fried and topped with sweet, spicy sauce), Black Knight(shrimp, cucumber, avocado and crab topped with spicy seared tuna, black tobiko and black pepper sauce) and one other roll(my favorite, can’t remember the name, topped with sweet spicy sauce). All were excellent and did not need soy sauce. I would definitely return for sushi that is well done and tastes great.

What a cool spot for some vegan grub in an unexpectedly hip town… at least unexpected to me. Nikki’s has an eclectic menu including sandwiches and other more American fare(not just a Japanese sushi place). Had the fried mater sandwich(tempura fried tomatoes) and it was excellent! Really enjoyed my meal here, and would definitely be back.

Nikki’s is a Good Sushi place. We ordered a Sashimi Bento Box and a Sushi Bento Box. The bentos came with many sides, miso soup, salad, gyoza, and a lot of edamame, no appetizers were needed. Not the world’s best fish quality but decent for the price. We also had a specialty roll, everything was good but not great and very filling. Service was quick and excellent. It was a good meal for the price and location in downtown Wilmington.

Great sushi. We got a couple rolls to share(tried the special) and my mom and I got the sushi bento boxes and my dad and husband got the sashimi meal. Very very pleased. Wonderful staff too. Knowledgeable, friendly, and just all around great. Food was great and atmosphere was nice right in the down town. Def coming back.

Atmosphere — it depends on which one you go to. The one downtown is the best. Sushi — eh average. Nothing really sets it apart from other sushi restaurants. Overall, meh!

First time going there for lunch and it was the best sushi I ever had. Everything was fresh and presentation was awesome. Miso soup was a bit blah but the sushi is where it’s at. Price aren’t to bad especially for what you get. I got the roll combo bento box and it was delicious. Should defiantly try out the ginger dressing for the salad best ginger dressing ever. I also have pictures for the teriyaki chicken and shrimp bento box they were very good also. Also order a shrimp tempura roll first time ever trying one it was delicious.

Mediocre at best. The service was friendly, but the food was grocery store sushi at best. Our group had the bento box sushi, teriyaki salmon, sesame shrimp, and two types of sushi rolls. There are better restaurants in the area.

Absolutely my favorite sushi place ever. Used to eat here at least once a week back when I lived in Wilmington. Their ginger salads rock my socks and they always have new and fresh, exciting creative rolls on the menu, so I always felt like there was something new to try. Definitely definitely recommend.

Went in tonight for take-out after I read the reviews on Unilocal. There was literally no one in there at 7pm, which should have been my first warning but I pressed on. Got the soft shell crab app and two special rolls that the waitress recommended. It doesn’t matter what they were. One roll was so gross I couldn’t even swallow. I think it was tuna. The other roll was so-so… The crab, which the waitress told me she thought had been taken off the menu, tasted like it should be off the menu… Regardless, shortly after finishing, everything came right back up. The only way this sushi could be voted the best in town is that there are no other sushi places… So terrible that it inspired me to write this while face deep in the toilet bowl. I award you one point simply because Unilocal won’t let me give you 0.

Nikki’s is quickly becoming one of my favorite local hangouts and sushi spots. As a caveat, I don’t eat raw fish, so I am always on the lookout for healthy, tasty rolls containing cooked fish only. The Fantasy Roll suits me perfectly, and their ginger salad dressing is the bomb! Beware that on weekend nights, when it’s crowded, it will take a while to get your food. It’s much quicker on a slow night. I like to sit in the window here and watch the«interesting» parade of life that is downtown Wilmington pass me by!
