I am a huge fan of Wilmington’s Riverwalk. Although some of the area is currently under construction,(currently at the foot of Market Street), there is still plenty to see! I always start my trek in the Nun Street area. I love to watch traffic cross Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and the sun glisten on the water. Sometimes there is boat traffic to watch. It’s fun to stroll past the restaurants and shops. Even during off season, I enjoy my visits. Sunsets here are gorgeous. My favorite views are of the USS North Carolina permanently docked across the river. And I love walking Front Street and the surrounding area. Some evenings, there are street performers. So relaxing here! I am always excited to visit!

We walked this morning. We started at the Cotton exchange and walked to end. It’s chilly but we had coats on and bundled up. It was an interesting walk. Parts of the river walk are closed off to public so know you will walk on the street. We passed four homeless people which was surprising to me but they were friendly and I never felt scared or threatened. Most of the stores were not of interest to me. I liked walking to see what was across the Cape Fear river(nothing pretty) and see the bridges. I was impressed it was so extensive but number 1 in 2014? Not sure about. The actual wood boards we are walking on are showing wear. I wonder if the repair crew is working down this way toward the near. There are trolleys and cruises but way too cold. I would like to come back and try on a warmer day. Parking is meter or $ 7 at public lots. We parked at Cotton Exchange and got a coffee so it was free. Overall it’s okay. Not a particularly pretty view but okay.

I loved this place! It’s been a while since I’ve done a mini vacation on a weekend and boy am I glad it was to here! So many beautiful people. So many shops, stores, and views. I highly recommend visiting here. The history of this place is also very interesting! I can’t wait to go back with a big group of friends! The nightlife alone made it all worth it!

We read about the River Walk in travel guides and the North Carolina tourism website. It was described as a mile of shops and restaurants along the river. We found a few restaurants and shops but no where near even a quarter mile. Even those held no attraction for us. The walk does extend some distance and would make a pleasant walk when the weather was cooler. The USS Carolina can be reached via the walk.
