Firstly, we waited over 6 minutes to even be greeted. No one ended up greeted us so we left. I’m also not a fan that they only accept cash, not cards. No one carries cash now a-days. I can’t even comment on the food because we didn’t stay to eat.

Very rude wait staff. Didn’t get to taste the food so I won’t leave a review about that. While we waited for our table, they served coffee to everybody but us, they ignored my friend and did not give her a menu, the waitress literally snatched the menu I was holding to give it to another person. We went there because my best friend recommended it. After how they treated us we went across the street to Boat House, where we always go.

Bob is an old family friend who started Salt Works… Great comfort food, breakfast or lunch. Chicken, burgers and dogs are all made the old fashioned way. Small and cozy, staff very friendly. Always stop by on my way to Oak Island.

My husband and I were wanting something new. We’re pretty devoted to Causeway Café, but decided to walk outside our comfort and routine. This was a great decision! The atmosphere is divey so you can feel comfortable walking in there right off the beach, or like us… in your pajamas. Customer service was good, never had to ask for anything. I ordered the eggs, hash browns, sausage and toast– it was what I would expect. My husband ordered a bacon, tomato and cheese omelet and we split the cinnamon french toast. YOUHAVETOGETTHECINNAMONFRENCHTOAST!!! I thought I died and went to Heaven. The outsides were super crunchy with some kind of delicious cinnamon mixture that they fry it in. The insides perfectly done. We will definitely go back for the French toast.

I went here with a friend and I enjoyed my breakfast. I ordered eggs, sausage, and home fries and they were amazing! My friend ordered an omelet and she thought it was just okay. She loved the home fries too. My meal came to 5 bucks and you can’t beat that!(Cash only) Service was good and place was clean. I would go here again.

This is a GREAT historic food place. I’ve been eating there since I was a little kid and they had mostly stand up eating for those quick hotdog runs before hitting Wrightsville Beach. Bob has done an amazing job building this establishment up from the small spot it once was. Everyone has a name at Bob’s because he remembers just about everyone’s name and greets them by their name when they enter. This place is a real treat for anyone looking for a great spot for even better food. It’s a must eat place when in town.

I’ve heard awesome things about the burgers at the Original Salt Works, and they are all true. My dad and I both got the double cheese burgers and they were so delicious! Better than any of the lousy chains/fast food joints in the area. I will most definitely be returning to Salt Works on my next trip to Wilmington.

Local favorite serving great breakfast. Hadn’t been back in years until recently. Still tasty with large portions. Friendly service too. It’s small with limited parking and cash only.

The Original Salt Works on Oleander has a daily lunch special of a double cheeseburger, crinkle fries and a drink for $ 7.25(includes tax). The burgers are hand-pattied and made from fresh, never-frozen 93% lean ground chuck. Cooked diner style on a flat top. They also use locally sourced produce like tomatoes and hand-chop their coleslaw. Hot dogs are also great, all beef hot dogs, steamed buns and homemade chili.

Best food value in Wilmington. Was there again for lunch yesterday; got the special double cheeseburger, fries and drink for $ 6.78. The burger was great, plenty of good hot fries, and my coffee was always filled. You can’t beat this place. My two servers Naomi and Alex were as friendly and attentive as you can get. Try this place, it’s great. This has to be the best staff in Wilmington. Back in today and they remembered what I liked and were very attentive. Stephanie was great. The food was too. Try Salt Works, you won’t be disappointed.

The burgers were the Carolina eqivalent of in-n-Out burger. The ingredient list is short, but the burgers are very tasty. Don’t expect cookie cutter burgers or Oscar Meyer bacon. This is bacon for the big boys. The inside is not large, and it has a down home feel to it. They are a cash only joint that’s family friendly and a great local place.

May be partially our fault — didn’t realize until we sat down and ordered our drinks that they don’t serve breakfast past 10:45. I incorrectly(?) remembered all-day breakfast service — may have previously gone to the other location. We totally missed the«No Credit Cards» sign on the front door, so I ended up driving to an ATM while my husband waited patiently with our check. Overall, the food was just okay. A grilled cheese with tomato, a grilled chicken pita(which was, literally, grilled chicken on a pita, no other toppings except the slice of American cheese and bacon, which cost extra) — both served with ruffled potato chips from a bag. That plus two iced teas comes to 15 bucks? Could have done better at a drive thru.

Always a pleasure to visit, been eating here since 1972! Breakfast is traditional and tasty, and you can go off menu and get one of Bob’s special«deconstructed omelets»…scrambled eggs with cheese and ham mixed in… Lunch is the cheeseburger special or grilled chicken supreme… best value and best fries in town. Use the back door and look like a local… and if there is space sit at the bar for a great floor show.

when I first walked into Salt Works, I was a little skeptical. I love divey places as much as everyone else, and I assumed I’d get a greasy cheeseburger, a character-filled atmosphere, and nice southern hospitality and walk out satisfied… head back to new york, unpack, shower, maybe write a nice 4 star review if I could even be bothered, and not think about it again. BUT I got talked into the grilled chicken pita(supreme!) at this fine establishment, and I was hooked. if it didn’t close at 2pm on sunday, I would have gone here twice in 4 days on fairly a short beach vacation. the grilled chicken takes a little while to cook(because its freaking perfect), but the chicken, heated/buttered pita, perfectly melted cheese, and bacon(plus lettuce/tomato/onion/hot sauce in my case) create just a perfect flavor combination. I don’t even know why it was so great, but it just was and I want more. in short: grilled chicken pita supreme and get there before 2pm
