Yum! First time trying peruvian food. Ordered the saltado pollo to-go. Took about 20 – 25 mins Its really good! Who knew fries would taste good prepared like this. Very flavorful, not spicy at all. I love the tomatoes. Option for white or yellow rice. Get yellow! I couldn’t finish it so I have leftovers for tomorrow. Yum!

I’m a big foodie. Having been to Peru, this was the most authentic Peruvian food i’ve ever had! I chatted with the waitresses and they said the recipes were handed down from traditional Peruvian cooks and the chef personally makes he spices and sauces himself! Go now!

Good food. I have driven past the Wilmington location for years. After seeing the reviews decided to give them a try. I ordered the full chicken combo to go. It came with salad and yellow rice. I also ordered plantains on the side. It was all very tasty. The plantains were deep fried in a batter which was different. If you are looking for a soft sweet pan seared plantains order the sweet bananas. Since I try to get to this spot every other month or so, I’ve become better at ordering what I actually want. You can definitely order ahead for a pick up order which is what I do. I find that regardless of what time you decided to order to go there is usually some sort of delay when it comes time to pick up the order. I do like my food piping hot so I don’t mind the delay. I’ve never dined but the set up is okay and casual.

Went in on a slow afternoon and there were no cars in the lot. This kind of threw up a red flag. However, food was awesome and delicious. Nice portions, fabulous sauces, and excellent options. Authentic food in a quaint little restaurant. Will be going there often.

Awesome place, very reasonable prices. Would like to see this place survive this tough location. Support your local Peruvian Restaurant!

Excellent meal! Great service, wonderful food and really good prices. Very authentic fare. Loved the baked chicken and the Pisco sour was right on. The best rice and the salad dressings were so unusual… but great. We will be back for sure.

I can’t get enough of the Chicken House! Because I was sick with a head cold, we decided to order to take home and still I was not disappointed. The chicken soup was amazing and it totally helped soothe the sinus headache I was having. WELOVETHESERVICE! I have not been disappointed and we have been dinning for several years now.

Went here with my family of 4 last week and we each had half a chicken with yellow rice. The food is amazing and the Flan for desert is to die for. Would highly recommend!

Great service. Good atmosphere. My wife thoroughly enjoy eating here. I ordered the limo saltado and it was very good. My only complaint is I wish there was a little more beef on the plate.

I feel like some of the entrees I could have made myself– very simple cooking. They give you a lot of food, though, and the plantains are delicious. Willing to give it another try…

The grilled chicken had no flavor, didn’t even look grilled tasted more like oven chicken a bit dry too. The seafood platter was literally mostly French fries, yuca and salsa. The seafood was deep dry no flavor as well. You can count the sea food on the plate. The only good thing about this place was the sweet plantains. Def not come back.

My fellow Unilocalers you did me right again. Found this little gem while waiting for wifey to come out from shopping. Give me 4 stars you get my attention give me 41⁄2 and several good reviews… I’m there. Nice area with plenty of parking(good start) clean place great salsa music playing overhead and friendly hello’s when you walk in. I could smell the flavors from the door. Extensive menu with a little something to satisfy everyone. My entrée consisted of Steak, yellow rice, sweet plantains crispy fries topped with two eggs over easy. To a Latino this is a plate that is simply divine. They call it «Bistec a lo Probre» it’s suppose to be a «poor man’s dish» but trust me it’s anything but. Although my steak was a little tough my rice was the perfect color and full of flavor. The sweet plantains were a welcomed compliment to the overall dish. Great variety to choose from. If you’re anywhere near this place come and enjoy.

Love this place. The food is so reasonbly priced. For a whole family of 4 I paid a little over $ 20. Its great food, great chicken, and you have to try it with the fried rice!

I love, love, love this place. The chicken is fantastic and so is the yellow rice. The empanadas are my favorite though. The way they get the shell so so crispy is wonderful. This place packs in the flavors and the service is fast, knowledgeable and friendly. One of my favorite places in town. Also reasonable prices.

Delicious! My husband and I were driving through the area and stopped for lunch. The service is friendly and the food was wonderful. We had Aguadito de Mariscos, Picante De Camorones y Pescados, Fried Cassava, and Frijoles.

If you are looking for something different the chicken house is the way to go! With a large detailed menu of Peruvian perfection you can’t for wrong with any dish. My waitress was a doll, so cut and very friendly she was absolutely on the ball. The other waitress was also very busy and the 2 ladies world very well together. Know for roasted chicken Peruvian places have such a wide range I needed to try something differed yet I wanted some chicken too so I ordered the wings. BESTCRISPYWINGSEVER!!! The wings were no joke and the yellow(ilya) sauce is light fresh and a little spicy perfect sauce for these wings. I got a steak dish that was tasty but sadly the steak was tough. The yellow rice was perfect and The beans too were great. I ate some of the beef but chopped up the wings and incorporated them in the beef dish and even poured some Ilya sauce over the dish and found a marvelous meal. Most folks would have no probls with their steak and please believe that it was flavorful and the dish was a nice presentation. Never mind that, with an Iced tea, appetizer, entrée and extra side my meal including a 20% tip was $ 25 buck. That’s terrific. I’d return of I come back to this area!

Looked for somewhere local to eat a late lunch and found this Peruvian small wonder less than 2 miles away. Outside looks an old Church’s chicken, but the inside is very clean and the food is great. To top it off the service was great as she explained everything to us without even asking. Will be back.

Not too attractive from the outside but mmmmm the food is soooo good! If I move away, this is the one restaurant in the area that I would travel back to just to get great food! Highly recommend the ½ chicken with sweet plantains(bananas) or with fried yuca. The green and yellow sauces are so good and unique — never tried anything like them before. Apparently they are a family recipe passed on from the original owners. The chicken was honestly cooked to perfection. Plus, half a chicken is a lot if you eat like me so you may have leftover for another meal. Honestly haven’t tried much else on the menu aside from the chicken — why stray away from what they do awesome?!

I have a friend who claims to be an expert in identifying what type of fast food restaurant used to be somewhere but now it’s something else. I’m not as good as he is at working that out so I can only guess that this was a Wendy’s from the age they did their salad bar. The inside isn’t really fancy, but they have tables and they have booths. What more do you need? I ordered the half chicken with yellow rice. It came with a salad. The salad wasn’t much — some lettuce and a slice of tomato, some shaved carrots. Meh. Ignore it. The chicken is where it’s at. My half chicken was a decent size with plenty of skin still on it. Very moist, very tasty and easy enough to eat with knife and fork. The yellow rice was tender and flavorful getting much better when I poured on some of that green sauce on it. Some prefer the yellow, I thought the green was more appealing. When it was down to just skin and bones, my tummy was full and my wallet was pleased. This was a good meal! I would return to the Chicken House.

This might be the strangest place I have ever eaten! While driving home from OCMD last summer after a bachelorette party weekend, my friend, Christina V. and I realized there was no way we were going to be able to make it back to Philly without eating something. Christina was craving fried chicken. I don’t normally eat fried chicken but my hangover was calling for something unhealthy! Christina took to Unilocal as I drove up 95 and found The Chicken House was only about 2 miles away. I took the next exit and we headed that way. We almost missed the drab old building as we were looking for a large obnoxious sign. After I parked, we began to get a little bit nervous about walking into this, so called Chicken House that strongly resembled a Roy Rogers from 1990. I was getting anxious from starvation, the inside couldn’t be worse than the outside… We were pleasantly surprised at the interior décor and menu. I don’t remember what Christina ordered, but it came with beans, rice, and some other side dishes with a delicious sauce. I ended up getting some boring chicken fingers because I couldn’t stomach anything else at the time. We decided to get the food to go, although the staff was friendly, we wanted to get back on the road and the eary feeling of being in a Roy Rogers from my childhood was still lurking in the back of my mind. My chicken hit the spot and I tried Christina’s meal, we were equally as impressed. She also had plenty of leftovers for the next day!
