This place is a horror– it should be shutdown. Anyone who pays to go in here is contributing to animal cruelty. Please don’t encourage these animals suffering. Dirty, no water, way too small cages; nails sticking out for animals to puncture themselves– sores all over several animals. Take a peek behind where they show — its even worse.

Depressing as hell, all Zoos are animal prisons but this one feels like a horror movie Small cages, thin looking animals no water for some of them, why doesn’t the aspca padlock this horror show?

I don’t know if they actually utilize the«10 acres,» but some of these animals have tiny little spaces. It’s so hot outside and those animals don’t have much water. I feel awful for giving them my money. :(Honestly, I don’t know how they acquired some of those animals with as little investment they’ve done in the place. It’s definitely no San Diego, Dallas, Pittsburgh, or Columbus Zoo. Where’s the ASPCA now?

How many animals have to suffer in miserable conditions before people stop visiting this absolute hell hole? These animals deserve a sanctuary with room to roam and play and interact with other animals. I’m counting the days until this place is closed.

DONOTGOTHERE! IFYOUHAVEANYSORTOFHEARTPLEASEHELPGETTHISPLACEUNDERCONTROLORSHUTDOWN! I wish I could give this place zero stars. My friend and I went kind of as a joke thinking there would be farm animals behind the doors. What we stumbled upon. Inexcusable! It is currently 101 degrees here. Let me tell you how many animals we saw with water,(mind you they had a sprinkler running over top a pond), about 20% of the poor animals! Most of them were confined in the smallest of spaces. Most were pacing back and forth. Some had swollen bellies from either parasites or dehydration. And the rest were dying of thirst! This is the most depressing place I have ever gone to. I would rather spend the rest of my day visiting funeral homes and cemeteries than go back there ever again. So, so very sad. My heart goes out to those poor animals. It’s sad when you walk by an animal and apologize to each and every one for their living quarters…

Would have given 5 stars but some animals were missing. The park was extremely hot today(6÷18÷15) and all of the animals were happy and playing. There were several park employees walking around turning on their water/filling their pools. Not a single animal looked or appeared to be uncomfortable. I have lived here my entire life and though this park has recently developed a «poor reputation» I can assure you I was extremely pleased with the cleanliness and dedication by the employees. We had a great time and I recommend visiting Tregembo whenever you get the chance!

I don’t understand why anybody would visit this place. If you have any heart at all, DONOTVISIT this place. I am an advocate for all animals and they should never be kept like this. Animals have certain needs just like humans do. Solitary confinement with no interaction with other like animals is not acceptable. Would any human truly prefer to be solely alone with no other human to touch or be near? This is truly sad to me that people think it’s ok for an animal be kept in an enclosure that is too small with inadequate water or shelter. If you want to see what a real zoo is like, then drive to Asheboro, NC. The animals at the Asheboro zoo are properly houses and cared for. Please note that Tregembo has been rated as one of the worst roadside zoos in the COUNTRY! PETA has been working on closing them down since 1998. Please do not give these people your money. No animal deserves to be treated poorly, especially for monetary gains or to entertain people.

People say don’t judge a book by its cover but I couldn’t help it this time. Wanted to go here for my 6 yr old niece but when I pulled up into the parking lot, I didn’t even get out of the car. The place looked small and ran down. Only a 6ft privacy fence around the area. How much room could all those«suppose animals» have? I didn’t get a good feeling about it so wasn’t going to waste my money on it. If they made improvements, updated the look, we might go back and actually get out the car this time.

Don’t let the mediocre reviews stop you from a visit to this zoo. If your animal lovers like my wife and I you’ll love this zoo. The animals were very active when we went(cloudy day). And all the animals were interacting with us be it through the cage or fence that was kept clean. Overall worth the trip.

Please BOYCOTT! This is an awful place! Owners told me not to bring my Autistic son in. Followed me to the picnic tables where I fed my son and yelled at me not to bring food in so I decided I had enough and left. Did not give me my money back! Reported to ADA and BBB. Awful reviews! Should have read before going but I was trying to pleace one of my sons with Autism. I was there for 30 mins. Concrete cages on all animals, panther, lion paced which is a sign of stress. I also purchased their food to feed the animals. The cages were sturdy but small. Locals have been trying to close it down.

Still on the fence(no pun intended… just kidding, pun totally intended) about Tregembo. I’ve lived in Wilmington for more than four years now, and pass this place very day on my way to work. It was only last month that my curiosity finally trumped my fears about it, and even then I had to drag Jeff with me as a security blanket. The good news? It could definitely be sadder. More sad? Whatever — the conditions aren’t atrocious. Yes, the enclosures are, on the whole, quite small, and many of the animals live alone, but the zoo has character, the landscape is actually diverse and even inspires a sense of adventure — if you let it :) The cages are kept relatively clean(I mean, there are animals living in them — they’re not going to shine like the Chrysler building, you know?), and we were still there at «snack time,» and let me tell you, these guys were pretty excited for some fine lookin’ fruits and veggies. Even my strawberries at home don’t look that good. In the end, I’m just a massive sucker for animals, and I have to admit, I enjoyed the interaction. You can definitely spend a couple of hours roaming around, as Tregembo is more expansive than I’d expected. A couple of warnings: Put your eye shields up as you go through the«gift shop.» That is, by far, the saddest part about the entire place. Do yourself a favor and get through it as quickly as possible. Also: buy more peanuts than corn(trust me on this one). And finally, do not strike up a conversation with the big, friendly parrot near the exit. He has a scary monster voice that will haunt your dreams.(Kidding — you should totally talk to him. It’s terrifying and awesome all at the same time).

This zoo deserves nothing but five stars. It is a small zoo but delightful. Just remember it is not a big city zoo. They keep the place spotless. The animals are well fed and cages are clean. Yes folks the animals do poop during the day and leave waste from their food. I have seen reviews saying the animals are not kept well. Give me a break. Big cats can go for days without a kill and Sleep all day. All the wild animals in the wild just wander from place to place for food and water. So folks this place is wonderful and they might even take in animals that may not make it. I don t know for sure but these animals may be rescued. My favorite is the sloth. Since he is nocturnal he is always asleep when I go. But, one day he was awake and slowly, very, very slowly came to me. They have huge alligators too. For a small animal preserve a five. If you don t like animals in cages don t go. They get fed and treated better than in the wild.

No, no, no, no, no. Animals should not be kept in small cages with no companionship and no stimulation.
