Excellent food — I highly recommend the«Poor Man’s Benedict», a delicious concoction of biscuits, sausage, eggs, and sausage gravy! My arteries hate me, but my taste buds are throwing a party! Great coffee, fast service, and good prices. Seating and parking are limited, so get there early!

My husband and I lived in a very walkable neighborhood in Charlotte, and we enjoyed strolling to various establishments for meals. We were excited to see that White Front Breakfast House was close to our home here. So, we ventured that way early one morning. The place itself is a diner which appears to have had no renovations. Love that! We sat down and was immediately approached by a very friendly waitress. I ordered half caf coffee, and she struck that delicate balance for me throughout my meal. I ordered the veggie omelet, hash browns with cheese and onion, and a biscuit. Sadly, the eggs were over cooked, and the veggies needed a few more minutes in the pan. The hash browns were mushy, and the biscuit tasted more like a roll. The whole business cried out for salt and pepper. However, the cheese on the hash browns was sharp and plentiful, and the onions added a zing of flavor. There was lots of butter on the table as well as jelly. It was definitely filling. This place is also open for lunch, and they have a couple of vegetarian selections. I always enjoy supporting veg friendly restaurants.

Cool little diner. Very authentic diner, even down to the waitresses with a bit of attitude. Came in here to just get some carry out biscuits for the group back at the house. They warmed up some biscuits for me and I sat at the counter while I waited. The waitresses were funny and friendly. They made the other customers very welcome also. They loaded me up with stuff for my biscuits before I left. Food wasn’t pricey either. Biscuits were good, fluffy and held some jelly well. Not large biscuits a little bigger than an egg. Next time I go in, I’ll have to try dining in.

So. Here’s the situation with this place. It charmed me. I love the look and feel and service of this place. The food was fine. We had a typical breakfast spread. It was cheap. It was decently fast. It tastes good, not great. And I enjoyed just being in a really cool old breakfast diner. I don’t love it more than Jimbos though. I just need to make sure my loyalties are know.

Fabulous breakfast menu. Scrambled eggs cooked well but not over cooked. Bacon crispy but not fatty and very tasty. Great coffee if you are not a Starbucks fan(I’m not)! Service was very efficient and super friendly.

Our experience here was not what my expectations with almost five stars I was expecting some good breakfast and some good service, well not today. Me and my wife walked in at about 10:15 and was greeted warmly and we sat down the place was not busy at all maybe 4 people there. I got coffee and my wife got a coke. First taste of the coffee it was terrible tasted burned but I have drank worse so I just kept my mouth shut I just wanted breakfast. I ordered biscuits and gravy and two eggs and hash browns and bacon and the wife got a pancake. After we ordered all hell broke loose one of the waitresses was carrying a tray of drinks to a table of customers and the other waitress bumped in to her and knocked the drinks over immediately they were swearing at each other and slamming cups and who knows what else everyone in the place was immediately uncomfortable with the whole situation and the service seemed to stop for about five minutes while they argued and cleaned the mess up. After about another ten minutes our food came out finally and I was not pleased with what I got the gravy was very pasty and filled with chunks of sausage that tasted like it was thrown in at the last minute the hash browns were just mushy and greasy the eggs were ok and I never got my bacon. The wife’s pancake was terrible it tasted like instant pancake mix the really cheap kind and the brought her syrup out in a small juice cup which I thought was strange. Overall the experience I got today was not what I would expect from a establishment earning almost five stars and I will not be going back in the near future.

While visiting Wilmington, my hubby and I tried to find a place that served breakfast before 7:00 – hard to find. The outside appearance of the place is run down and kind of dumpy – giving me the fear that cleanliness might be a concern. Since no other places were open at 6:30 a.m., we decided to be brave and try it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the building was worn and a bit run down but very clean inside. The food was standard breakfast fare. We ordered eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, hash browns. Everything definitely needed salt, which we added to taste at the table. Not amazing food, but decent and filling. My husband said that his link sausage was overcooked and dry, which was surprising to me, given that we were the only customers there to cook for at the time. His over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. I had high hopes for the biscuits and gravy… after all, we were in the south. I was a bit disappointed, as the sausage gravy I grew up with in Indiana was much meatier and tastier than what was served here. Would I return to this place if I wanted an early breakfast and nothing other than fast food places were open? Yes, it’s fine. Would I return if it was after 8:00am and I had other places to choose from? No, probably not.

We were in Wilmington on vacation for a week and ate here 3 times during our stay. Their breakfast is awesome. If you’re looking for just good old country cooking, this is the spot for you. If I had to guess this is a local favorite. The people who came in knew each other and the staff. The ladies on the wait staff(the Asian and the Blond that work together) were stellar! They do have a B team who’s not as good tho but at least the food didn’t suffer b/c of them LOL. What we ate: grits, biscuits(w/sausage gravy), smoke sausage, bacon, liver pudding, omelette, eggs and coffee… ALLTASTEDGREAT! We did not have a bad meal hear at all. I wish we had spot like this in VA where we live. It’s a tiny hole in the wall, but don’t let that deter you. Stop here and eat… but get there before 2pm or you won’t eat!

Woooo! I’ve driven past this place for 2 years! What was I thinking. Do not drive past this place again. Stop! Go inside! Order breakfast! The service was great. The diner style smacks you in the face! The regulars are welcomed by name! The breakfast is large and out if control yum! I know nothing about grits, but they schooled me. I’m now a grits convert! Hell I’m getting hungry just thinking about them.

This is a classic 50s style dinner… Great food, service and prices! Very friendly and very busy. You may have to wait for a place to sit, but it’s well worth the time! Highly redeemed! They’re open 6am-2pm daily.

Best classic, traditional diner breakfast ever. This place is not in a schmancy neighborhood, and the building is not impressive… never mind that, it’s what’s cooking inside that counts! We sat at the counter, it was quite busy, but we got our orders in. The coffee was quite good. I ordered two eggs, bacon, hash browns and a biscuit. You could get grits or toast too, but I am a sucker for a good biscuit. The eggs were perfectly cooked, bacon and hash browns were nice and crispy, biscuit was delicious. I might have enjoyed a little honey with it, but the jam was fine. Husband had biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and loved it… and that man knows his biscuits and gravy, mind you! Lots of refills on coffee, without even having to ask. A lot of locals came in and the prices are easy on the wallet. Cheerful crew, very nice service! Bathrooms require a key, but they are clean as can be. Easy to get back on the road north from here also. Fantastic breakfast… not fancy, no clever twists, and most certainly not organic, but as good as a breakfast can taste, IMHO. Eat your kale later already.

A true go to breakfast spot with polite employees as well as polite guests. Don’t let the outside through you, this place is spotless inside and there is a reason it’s been around for so long.

I started to give White Front 4 stars but then couldn’t think of anything I didn’t like about it. I live within walking distance so the location could not be more perfect for me. At first glance, I was not impressed. In fact, it took my husband two years to convince me to go. From the first moment I walked through the door I started to come around. Quickly. There is no «type» of crowd. Anyone and everyone comes to White Front. That’s what makes it so special. There is something on the menu for everyone. Even vegetarian. The food is good, fast and cheap. In and out, 30 minutes. And, the service is as warm as the biscuits.

Was in Wilmington this past weekend for the memorial day weekend to visit my brother and his family. My girlfriend and I had to run a few errands and were in the neighborhood of the white front and stopped in for breakfast. I have been here several times before and while there are other breakfast spots I prefer, you can’t go wrong with White Front if you are looking for an alternative to a chain spot«aka Waffle House» The omlets are good and come with hasbrowns or grits as well as biscuits or toast. We opted for a western omlet with hasbrowns & biscuits and ordered a side of sausage gravy for the biscuits(which is really very tasty, highly recommend) I also ordered a short stack of 2 pancakes that were super. Coffee is very good as well. 4 stars… I’m a fan of the white front and would recommend you give it a try if you find yourself driving towards downtown on Market Street. No surprises, just classic diner style breakfast food that to me is better than the goody goody.

I have nothing to complain about. The staff were very friendly and down to earth. The food was well prepared and served in a timely manner. I got the French toast; which was very good.(They even gave me JIF peanut butter when I requested it to put on my French toast), with eggs and bacon. I am a bacon fanatic so I’m not to picky when it comes to bacon but I lean towards the crispy yet delicious tasting bacon and let me tell you, on point! It’s a small place that wouldn’t really catch your eye but it’s well worth going into.

White Front is a classic diner with greasy spoon fare. Omelets are pretty good but hashbrowns tend to be run of the mill mush if not ordered extra crispy. Their corned beef hash isn’t bad and their French toast, as well as pancakes are good. But honestly just go for classic eggs, sausage with their grilled biscuits. They have a pretty good, inexpensive flat-top grill burger and fries. But the servers are the main reason to go, aside from the nostalgia of how diners once were. The gals used to be the«Flo» types. While they may not come straight out and say«kiss my grits,» they’ll serve em to ya with a nice«bless your heart.»

Um. In a word. No ok… three words no no no no no… ok. five. Don’t do it. old style diner with all the charm but none of the taste. A very sweet little old lady recommended this place. I guess she had been coming for many years and stopped noticing the food. Breakfast is hard to screw up, Bacon, eggs, pancakes biscuits… all American staples. Go if you want, I’ll say no more. Just don’t order the blueberry pancakes.
