Mi Cabana

The first time we came it was because we needed a change of pace and it had good reviews on Unilocal. and for good reason. The nacho supreme was so big hubby couldn’t finish. .my fav. the fried chimichangas… mmmmmm. oh and the fried cheesecake, save room. Definitely a new hidden jem.

Finally got a chance to try this place out. Let me tell you guys, it was good! I ordered 3 carne asada tacos, and they came with freshly pressed corn tortillas. I think I went to Heaven briefly. My husband ordered half veggie fajtas, and there was enough food for both of us, fresh veggies and guacamole. MMmmmmMMMm The food was hot, fresh, and the service was spot on. The spicy sauce is a little bit SPICY, but in small amounts it’s pretty good. I even bought a take out cup of the sauce to take home. We will be back!

In my original review, I stated that Mi Cabana needs to figure out a way to differentiate itself from the numerous Mexican restaurants in Wilson. Since that time, the group that I lunch with has determined that Mi Cabana has found its niche: the taco. The Mi Cabana tacos are some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Both the chicken and the beef tacos are equally amazing, although I’d give a small preference to the beef taco. Whatever it is the restaurant does to flavor the beef and chicken is perfect. While the initial draw that brought us back to Mi Cabana was the Taco Tuesday offer (Tacos for $ 1 each with the purchase of a drink), I’m fine with going any day of the week to pay full price. While Wilson has numerous Mexican fare options, Mi Cabana has won me over with its simple but amazing tacos.

Great food. The fajitas are the best around. The service is great and your food comes out quickly. Cheese dip is the best in town. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Best mexican food in town by far.

I would honestly rate this place a 3.5! It was a nice atmosphere. The bathroom was clean. I had a hard time getting into the booth so we had to slide the table back and forth to get situated. The waiter was friendly even though he didn’t talk much. Food was delivered in good timing. We went on a Monday night and it was dead. Only two groups besides me and my husband. So their staff was kind of laying over the front counter not paying too much mind to customers.
I got the Mi Cabaña Express! It’s grilled ribeye steak, chicken, rice, beans and a salad in a small taco shell. But it also came with a slice of grilled cactus! I was surprised because I didn’t read it on the menu and the waiter told me it’s not listed on the menu. So okay, why did no one tell me? I tried it but didn’t like it. Not was on my chicken and the chicken ended up tasting like it (yuck). So I would suggest not getting the cactus. But the rest was great! Very authentic!
We also got Chimi Cheesecake and its was GOOD! Highly recommend it!
So all in all, a good trip! I would return again.

The flavor and quality of the food just wasn’t good. My poor waitress did provide much humor by consulting with the manager and remaining confused. Restaurant quality through Wilson needs to increase. «That’s just the way it is» should not be an excuse to pay your hard earned money for sorry service and quality.
