I have been eating at Monticello’s for many years and their food has not changed — it’s still delicious and reasonably priced. I’ve always gotten great service and it’s still one of my go to restaurants!

Oh what a blunder I made at lunch today! I almost did an ‘eat n run!’ Well, I didn’t really run away, I came back. I did really! **WARNING** CASHONLY! NODEBITORCREDITCARDACCEPTED! Yeah. That was my blunder. Good thing I always keep some extra cash everywhere and I was able to pay the tab, otherwise this would have been rather embarrassing! Aside from it, this place is NOTHING like I imagined! From the«Monticello Café,» I automatically think of Café au lait and croissant, and free wi-fi with purchase of a cup 16 oz or larger. Oh no no no! This is a diner with character. If you live or been in Wilson for an extended amount of time, I would not be surprised to your name carved into the side wall and the wooden back of booth seats. Seems that’s the tradition. **CHALLENGE** Can you find my name? The food offering here is more than decent. You get assorted choices of sub/grinders, stromboli and calzones, and much prided homemade lasagna. I was a bit hungry today, so I got a R&F(names maybe?) sandwich and a daily special Buffalo chicken tender. The service is aloof and placid, that’s for sure.

Maybe not the nicest joint in town when you walk in and service is not very snappy but you will be happhy when you get your food. I got a steak and cheese sub that was really really good.
