I find it difficult typically to shop on, «the drive» in Wilton Manors because I think a lot of things look the same and much of it really isn’t my taste. What’s nice about this place is, yes, it’s another place to buy revealing swim wear, but you can get more than there here. Overall, I love the beach theme they have going on here. The store isn’t large but makes up for its size by using bright lights, colors and making good use of the space. They have a lot of fun t shirts with various sayings on them– tank tops too. They have brands I’ve only seen at this store and nowhere else on the drive which is nice. It can be pricey but I get that in this area it’s going to be. I love the changing room set up with the beach huts. The staff has always been nice. Very attentive and will help you pick out anything you need. Make sure to check out the clearance on the back wall. If you need a jock strap, they have those too. I’m telling you, they pretty much have it all. If you’ve got some money to burn or maybe some credit– go buy yourself something nice.

Ball had been at this very same location for over a decade but then completely moved out, took down all their signs just leaving a door note that they were out of Wilton Manors/Fort Lauderdale, going to re-establish at a new location in South Beach. Well, they were close, permanently, gone for months, busy re-establishing in South Beach but then things with their leases went sour, so with tale dragging between their legs they’ve come back. Essentially everything is the same with only a few minor differences, except of course, a different phone number. Now, for those who don’t know about Ball, it’s a men’s clothing store but being located as a part of the Shoppes of Wilton Manors, on «The Drive,» in the heart of the«Gayborhood,» much of their customer draw is based upon the fact that some of their clothing is gay oriented; but not necessarily what one might term«gay clothing.» Indeed, most of the items they carry are typical t-shirts, shorts, swim suits and what not as are very much worn by both gay and straight individual but also with custom like swim suits having an inner liner with an oval ring for a male to put his sexual apparatuses through so as to stand them out there, up front, as a more prominent display of «crotch bulge» or what others refer to as a «package.» Basically its part of the old routine of «If you’ve got it, flaunt it.» However, with the size of some of the shockingly over large flaunts seen on the beach, I have long suspected fiendish fraud in the form of sand filled socks, possible sausages from Publix instead of from God or whatever; a fact verified to me by various ex-boyfriends, roommates, street gossip and notations written upon nearby Alibi men’s room wall. And yes, there are also other telltale gay notes such as Nasty Pig jockstraps, a brand I can assure that you will not find at a Dickey’s or a Macy’s, and a shirt or two with certain printed hint wording such a «Catcher» or «Pitcher» that I highly doubt has anything to do with the sport of baseball. Overall it’s a good store. I like it as it has a pleasant staff, friendly to everyone regardless of orientation, and for what you get, reasonable in price.

Hey now… here’s a fun place to get one or more swim trunks if you like. Maybe a bit pricey but where else will you find this gear. Not easy to find. Also, some thin semi-see thru shirt. Super comfortable. The guys that work here are friendly, helpful, and cute! : —) The store décor is cool. The changing rooms are like the old time changing tents once seen on the beach. Not so much these days. A good shopping atmosphere. Have fun!

An excellent fashion center in the midst of the Wilton Manors LGBT strip mall area and about 200 feet from George’s Alibi. Ball Swimwear has(almost) everything one needs for swimming, going out fashion, relaxation and casual wear. We obviously went there at the beginning of low season, because the sale signs were spread out throughout the store, and some of the best brands were on sale. Staff was there when you needed them, and were absent when you wanted them to be absent. I really, really like that. Nothing worse than being at one of those places where you feel accosted or pressed into purchasing items you don’t want to buy. Ball had none of that. It was a nice place to spend some time browsing, and yes, shopping.
