While the Wilton Shoe Maker has done quality repairs for residents for years, my experience was outstandingly terrible. I requested that a leather folder of mine, open on two sides, have the bottom stitching redone. A few clarifying questions were exchanged and it was specified that I did not want any of the open sides stitched closed. When I come to pick it up, one of the open sides is stitched closed. This in itself is not catastrophic; every business makes mistakes. However, the side with redone stitching was disrespectfully bad. The newly stitched side was done a little better, but not much beyond what a careful amateur could have done. When I voiced my concern, they offered to cut open one of the sides to return it to its original configuration, however, they cut the side which was originally closed despite a logo in the corner showing the orientation. When the price for the ‘repair’ service came to $ 20, they might as well have slapped me in the face and said disparaging things about my mother. In sum, it was 20 $ for a horrendous and basic single stitch, though I got $ 10 back when complaining about the stitching with another customer in the room. That said, if you need high-end shoes repaired I hear they’re great, probably because they may actually put effort forth.
