Awesome room. Incredible service. We were in town for a wedding, and several of us from the party stayed here. When we drove up, we had no idea what to expect. It’s a very old style«Motor Court» type building, straight out of the 1950s, I believe. So our hopes were not high, but we figured, «Well, it’s only for two nights.» But boy, our first impressions couldn’t have been more wrong! This place is incredible! All the rooms have been totally remodeled, and are decorated in a «hipster chic» kind of vibe. If you ever find yourself in this little Texas town, make sure you stay this place!

What a beautiful place! Just like their pics on their website! Maybe even better! Everything is walking distance from where we are staying…

We went here for a quick getaway from Austin. They knew we were coming to celebrate my birthday and see the Trail of Lights. I was so pleasantly surprised to see flowers and a card waiting upon our arrival. This place is amazing! If you get a change stay here. The attention to detail was incredible. Who puts a turntable and albums in a hotel room? They do. And so clean. Not a dust bunny to be found anywhere! I could go on and on so I will just say I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away. Thanks Hotel Flora and Fauna for making our stay so pleasant.

Booked on a whim and I couldn’t have been more pleased. Décor is fun and contemporary — turntable in my room with K-Tel Superhits and a Men at Work albums to play. Rooms have everything you could need — kitchenette with coffee maker, coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, dishes, knives, wine opener, dish soap, microwave, mini fridge with freezer compartment. Snacks at reasonable prices(no $ 7 bottle of water here!) Cozy seating area and great bed with down pillows. I loved the basket with towels and plastic cups to take to hot tub/pool area. And the books, there are real books in the rooms that are actually really good reads. And the the lovely note and tiny plant as a welcome gift — shut your mouth! Who does that anymore! People have mentioned the noisy air units above the bed — it did not bother me, more like white noise but I did have to crank up the TV in order to hear it. Free WiFi! People also have mentioned the odd no office, just walk to your room, punch in the code in the door and walk in. I LOVED it! I hate the whole checking in process. I didn’t care that there is no one really around. My only complaint is the whimpy shower heads. I’d like something with a little more umph! Love, love, love. I will be back!

A fun, unique and modern hotel in the beautiful Hill Country! Located in a great location with relaxing features. The check-in process was swift and the simplest ever encountered. We were greeted with a cute, mini potted plant and a welcoming note upon check-in. They make every detail count here and we loved every bit of our experience. For example, the picnic basket filled with towels and cups were perfect to use outdoors. Our stay was relaxing, enjoyable and we highly recommend this business to anyone wanting to experience Wimberley at its finest.

«Modern» and«hip» are not words you would generally use to describe Wimberley, Texas. It’s a cute little town, good for antiques, galleries, hiking outside of town, and generally getting away from the big city. But it’s more about ornate furniture and old lace than it is about clean lines and cool surroundings. That is, until you step onto the grounds of Hotel Flora and Fauna. Because this ain’t your grandma’s Wimberley. You pull up into a shell and gravel parking lot that is walking distance from the main town square, and the first striking thing is an expanse of wall, covered by an equally large expanse of mural by an Austin artist. It shows local wildlife in a natural setting. Step inside the gate into a serene courtyard, complete with a small swimming pool, a pergola, and bocce balls dotting the green. A few standing stones contribute to the feel of a Zen garden. The rooms themselves are spacious with a king-size bed, a kitchenette with microwave and dorm-sized refrigerator and coffee maker(plus plates, cutlery, cups, and glasses for four as well as the essential corkscrew), a seating area that can comfortably accommodate four or more, and a bathroom with a huge shower. Little amenities are LED mood lighting on demand, a ceiling fan, and – just to burnish the hipster credentials – a portable turntable with a selection of ‘70s and ‘80s LPs.(Yes, Saturday morning found me sipping coffee and listening to Stevie Wonder.) The décor is retro modern – sharp, chic, and far more reminiscent of Portland, Oregon than Wimberley, Texas. And it works in spades. True to its name, Hotel Flora and Fauna does its best to be environmentally friendly, with recycling bins near each room and using Earth-friendly cleaners without any strong scents. The room was spotless when I arrived. There’s also the usual collection of snacks, bottled water, etc., on the kitchen counter available for a charge, like in so many other hotels. Unlike in so many others, however, they don’t gouge you on the prices. Most stuff is only $ 1, only a bit more than you might pay at the local grocery store, not the 300% mark-up you find at most hotels. Check-in and check-out are completely simple because there’s nothing to do in either instance. Booking is online, and the room doors open with a numerical code that the hotel sends via email. You can go straight to your room without needing to stand around a front desk. But don’t let that make you think Hotel Flora and Fauna is in any way impersonal. To the contrary, the management at this place is wonderful. Kharma, the manager, clearly cares about the business and wants it to succeed. Within an hour of our arrival, she was at the room with a folder full of suggestions about what to do in the area, complete with Google Maps directions(as well as an armful of extra LPs for the turntable). If it sounds like I’m gushing, it’s because I am. This is one of the coolest little places I’ve stayed in a long while, and they seem to have thought of everything. The price is right, the service is friendly, and the location could scarcely be better. This one’s a winner.

I’m not one to really write reviews, but man, this place really is fantastic. I came here with a few friends for a little getaway and Hotel Flora and Fauna truly exceeded my expectations. The property is a cozy, small sized boutique hotel that is located just a few blocks from the town square. The suite we stayed in was very clean, beautifully decorated, and super comfortable. I can’t say enough good things about it. Next time you’re in Wimberley, do yourself a favor and make sure to stay here!
