We stayed in the lodge in the cats paw room. If rustic means dirty, I agree. Although it was a cute place, the stairs were a bit steep and the room and bathroom needed a thorough cleaning. The shower was tiny and mildewed. Wish they had mentioned there were cats in the house, as I am allergic. The breakfasts were really good, but 9am is a bit late for us. The view was beautiful, but the signage from the road could be a bit more visible. I suppose you get what you pay for, as the price was reasonable.

This is a nice little B&B which makes some pretty awesome breakfasts. We stayed here for three nights and the place worked out great. The price is reasonable and the bed was comfortable. Don’t expect a nice TV or anything fancy, that’s not what this place is about. But you might get some good conversation and have a relaxing get away! The only thing that keeps it from being a five in my book is that the private road/driveway needs to be re-done. It’s fine if you have an SUV or truck, but not so great for a sports car.

We stayed here for my 40th birthday and had a great time. It is very quiet and relaxed. Breakfast is good and delivered to the cabin. Our dogs were allowed and they even brought treats in the morning for them. We had a really nice get away. If you are looking for a quiet retreat away from noise this is a great place.

Horrible phone service! Why would a customer book for a one night stay when it gives you the option. The tag buttons built into the software for the reservations in the sight will not allow you to book if it’s a minimum of a two night stay. What would I be given the option for this? Why would I receive a email the next day for the cancellation when it should have notified me the same day? There loss on the money. I would book with Cypresscreek Cottages instead. They even have cool packages you can add to your stay making it a pleasant get away instead of a normal hotel stop.

This year will be our third Thanksgiving at this wonderful place. Kent & Cissy are fabulous, their breakfasts(delivered to the cabins) are great. The views from the porch of the Mariah cabin are superb — though I must admit I’m concerned about the drought conditions this year. Southwind is a great base to use for trips to the local wineries. They offer full kitchens, fireplaces, jetted tubs and their rates are considerably less than any other lodging in the area. Of course I probably shouldn’t post this review cuz now the world will show up on their doorstep. ~L

For close to 13 years, Bob and I have frequented this B&B at least once a year and at times we’ve managed three visits in a year — WELOVETHISPLACE. It’s nothing fancy, no designer chocolates left on your pillow, but there’s a very comfy king size mattress beneath it that will aid in a good night’s sleep. Simple furnishings and rustic décor. Again, we love this place. We come here to get away. No phones, no internet, no traffic, no crowds. Yea, they now have satellite TV, but we try and ignore it. There is nothing better than on a cold December morning to sit by a fire with a cup of coffee and wait in relaxed pose for a never-disappointing breakfast, along with a newspaper and a treat for your dog, if you brought one along.(They welcome pets!) We’ve stayed at all three cabins, but never at the main lodge. Just our preference. We started coming here when we had three girls and their histrionic teen years in full operation at home, so we went for the privacy and have never considered it any other way. Have I mentioned we love this place? It’s just three miles from Wimberley proper, so just a quick scoot and you have some great shopping(if you like art, antiques, great jewelry, etc.) and the latest addition to town square, the Italian place(can’t remember the name) is fantastic. Even their bread is fresh baked. A burger and a beer at Inoz’s is also recommended, especially in the spring sitting on their patio. Go pick fresh lavender, if it’s in season. Tour the only Olive garden in central Texas(and taste fresh olive oil). Check out local wineries. We love this place! What seals the deal are the proprietors. We love to chew the fat with Kent, and now Cissy, who is a welcome addition to the place. She compliments Kent’s style and has brought a needed«feminine» touch to the place. You have to love folks of whom the foxes aren’t afraid.(Seriously.) Compared to other B&B’s in the area, and around the hill country, its very affordable. Come to relax, and don’t be surprised if you check your calendar before you leave to see about scheduling a return… Oh yea, and for the record, we love this place.
